This is the THIRD time using this company. Do you think I would be calling again if I wasn't completely satisfied the first time? Scott is a master of his craft- big and small jobs. He is so happy to make his customers satisfied, and they are equally happy to pay for a job well done. ( kinda rare today!!) read more

We can't count how many jobs we have used Scott's expertise to complete. This time we had a settling crack on the ceiling that was continuing to extend. Always responsive on his quotes, we send photos via text, and he responds usually in less than an hour! Best price, definitely more than fair price for the top notch, guaranteed quality. This job, as all the others, was done meticulously. He cleaned out the crack, installed drywall screws and mesh, applied coats of mud and texture, then cleaned up well. Provided instructions on how to sand, prime and paint including photos of the the best primer and recommended sanding block. Scott focuses on his work, completes it quickly and it is perfection. Would never use anyone else for drywall work. read more

1st choice drywall repair - Prep work to make sure my walls and carpet dont get dirty - Handyman Near Me - Mesa, Arizona

1st Choice Drywall was a weird exchange from the beginning to the end. I was moving an outlet in bathroom basically from a vertical orientation to a horizontal orientation. I contacted 1st Choice through email as stated on their website. I sent pictures and told them what I wanted. They said they didn't touch the electrical part of it as they weren't electricians - that is fine, I can do that myself. But after about 17 emails back and forth the job wasn't all that clear to either party. 1st Choice kept mentioning the electrical part of it which I didn't understand because they clearly stated from email #1 that they would not do the electrical. But still, I needed to communicate to them that part of the job was to ensure that there would be a hole cut out for the electrical. Surely that part of the job needed to be expressed? Finally a deal was struck for $120. This is better than other companies that charge $250 minimum so I went with it. Because I was reorienting the receptacle the hole was only about 4"x4". So for $120, that seems pretty steep. When he came I didn't have the plug reoriented because I thought that the deal was he would patch the entire hole and cut out the new receptacle hole. That was not what he understood - he understood that I'd have the receptacle in the new location. So I had to redo the receptacle on the spot while he prepared other things. He was not happy. He patched and did the texture spray. But to my surprise left the spray on there and left the sanding and "knock down" to me. Being a DIY person I did as instructed. I would say that the texture is not matched as I expected. I am sure we could debate on whether it is my fault for sanding too much or because he sprayed the texture too much - but to me the fact remains... why am I finishing the job in the first place? In retrospect if I had known that I was going to pay $120 for someone to put a 4"x4" piece of drywall in, I had to cut the new plug hole, and I had to do the texturing then I would have just done it myself. I had already done other areas but since this was in a super obvious area I wanted it to look a bit more professional. In the end I am sure that 1st Choice might be good for big jobs. But for small jobs it isn't worth it, especially for a DIYer like me. I'm including pictures of the plug reorient and the texture for you to judge. read more

I went looking for a drywall repair company to fix small areas on the walls/ceiling where I removed a room in my house. I reached out to 1st Choice Drywall Repair via their text line in hopes of getting a quote. 1. OVERPRICED When I texted them, I sent pictures as instructed and asked for a quote. They quickly got back to me and told me it would cost $1700. I had talked to several other reputable companies who all quoted me around $1000 ($950, $1050, etc) and theirs was extremely high. 2. DISRESPECTFUL When i told them, "Okay I'll pass as I've gotten quotes for around $1000," they replied saying "good luck, I doubt they will do quality work." All they could have said was "thank you for your time, good luck" but they didnt. They then continued to message me regarding lower prices (Down to $1500), even though I told them I would pass and continued to degrade other "said" companies who do bad quality work, despite never knowing which company I went with. At one point, I pointed out that it was rude of what they said and their reply was "its just the truth." I ended up blocking their number because it felt toxic. I ended up going with a different company who did the work really well, but I am disappointed that a company with so many reviews did this and treated a potential costumer this way. read more

Great job by Scott! Very professional, fast, good communication and affordable. Fixed our drywall hole with texture in less than 30 minutes. Guy is amazing! Will definitely be our go to drywall person! Thanks!!! read more

I've used this company three times so far within the past five years. The first time was to remove a dog door and repair the drywall and stucco. The second time was to repair drywall after having removed a Murphy bed. The third time was to perform a bunch of stucco repairs around the outside of my house. All of his work was expertly done and it's impossible to see where the repairs were made. I highly recommend. read more

Awesome! I had to call after my daughter attempted to "wall run" which is exactly what it sounds like ‍. He came the following morning (which was this morning) and worked quickly and neatly. Here is a before pic along side the pic right after he finished. I still have to let it dry, sand a little and paint it but I'm so happy this is done. The cost was $100 which I think is fare. I got 5 quotes and $100 was the cheapest. I highly recommend. I do NOT recommend wall running though. Lol read more

Scott was very informative thru the entire process. He texted me earlier than he had originally said so that was a bonus. They repaired my wall between my tub and toilet and replaced baseboard on both walls. They were efficient and fast and did not leave any mess behind. I am very pleased with the work and the price. They did this without having to remove the toilet which to me is impressive. He also took time to tell me what I needed to do and even the product I needed to get to finish the job that was not part of the quote. read more

Good work but horrible attitude and demeanor. For me, customer service is everything. Coming into a job, you would think someone is upbeat and friendly, but that wasn't the case. He Seemed upset to be working, cussing at times when he spoke, which I didn't appreciate and found unprofessional. My wife arrived and said, "hello," he gave a smug response, which made the afternoon awkward and we couldn't wait for him to finish. He also seemed to talk down on the work we attempted to do and criticized the house which we recently purchased which is funny because the "need for work" is why we solicited his services. As much work as we still need done, won't be calling him for any work in the future. read more

I hate to be that guy to give a bad review, but this guy is pretty unprofessional for several reasons. He responded quickly, called the night before to confirm, showed up on time and did a good job for a fair price. I will give him that. But, here's my issue: His attitude is a total grump. Nobody forced you to come to my house. He was kind of rude to my wife and talked to my brother like he was an idiot. I was going to let it slide until I came home and saw he ruined a shelf of mine by leaving a wet sponge on it, and he dumped out his bucket of drywall mud in my grass!! He even seemed to complain that I added an extra hole in the wall by telling my brother (who was home while he was working) "Its $340, even though I did more work than I was supposed to." How? I sent photos of every repair except the one he inspected on site and quoted separately. Because of this there's no reason for me to put up with his attitude and ever use him again. Its just drywall repair, not rocket science. I only hired him so I could finish other projects in the house faster. Well, add getting a new shelf for my cabinets and some more lawn work to remove his garbage. read more

I used 1st choice to repair drywall damage in my bathroom. He was on time, clean, thorough, and professional. Highly recommend.

Scott was quick to respond, stood by his original quote, easy to schedule quickly, and got the job done in a few hours (faster than I expected). He patched two holes where medicine cabinets were removed, and some holes where a towel hook was removed. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the texture seems to be much wider or larger than the rest of the wall, but I've heard matching texture is difficult and an art. Still, I would definitely recommend this company for any drywall repair and would use them again myself. Finally, be aware it is cash only, as I expected. Update: Thank you Scott for the info on the texture shrinking after today. I'll definitely take your advice on the sanding and pva drywall sealer before painting. read more

We had texted back and forth a few times and settled on a price and day for the repair. On Saturday I received a text that he was able to come out a day early and in our area. We agreed but asked him to wear a mask. I've never witnessed an adult throw a tantrum like this guy did. He was rude and slammed our front door going in and out numerous times. Even our three kids asked what this guys problem was and why he was being rude. He tracked a mess on the floor and left a mess. I'd imagine when there's a pandemic going on he would have been more willing to wear a mask. Was disappointed and wished we had went with a different company. Overall the repair itself is good but the experience was bad. I would not recommend this company. read more

Scott was excellent! He responded to my text right away and provided an estimate and I scheduled for the next morning. He was great at communicating with me and did a superb job in the drywall repair to my patio ceiling, and provided tips for longevity in the future. Beware! Horrible customer service. First I text pictures and get a generic estimate but then want sure he could do the job due to the ceiling height. So setup a time for them to come by and check the height and give a better estimate, I asked for a Sunday time which I appreciated since I know it was the weekend. The guy ended up going to the wrong house and was 2 hours late. And I asked to not ring the doorbell, multiple times, due to my kids napping. Not only did he ring the doorbell but gave me attitude when I called him out on it, he didn't even have the common courtesy to apologize and gave me a lame excuse that his phone had died even though he replied and got my text messages about not ringing the doorbell. And then he left without checking out the job and giving me a proper estimate. So late, poor people skills plus unreliable when he makes an appt. Scott, I'm apologize if you thought I was rude to you answering the door. Having 2 kids under 2, most parents, like myself, don't get a lot of sleep and are tired and exhausted and to be honest, you were lucky I even opened the door since you woke up my kids. And maybe next time, when you reply to comments, you should think about the customer first and apologize and ask for a retraction and ask how you could make it up. That would have been more professional on your part for thinking of the customer first and "the customer being right mentality" goes a long way these days since so few companies still believe in that. But you have every right to refuse service and I have freedom of speech to log my account of what happened. If anything I said above is incorrect, please let me know but from my recollection that is how I things happened from my point of view. read more

Most places were a week out just to get a quote for a small drywall repair. We had a couple of places that needed to be fixed before we painted/remodeled a small bedroom. I texted Scott and he responded within the hour with a couple of simple questions and a quote. The quote was reasonable and he came out a couple days later to get the job done. I also had a question after the job about some advice he had given me and he responded quicker than I had hoped, with pictures and everything. Needing a few stress cracks repaired as our home approaches eight years old, I immediately turned to Yelp to start my search. The sheer number of positive Yelp reviews for Scott was a great sign. I read many of them and the themes were consistent: quality work, fair price, no-nonsense approach. Scott gave us an estimate over email, offered to come on a Saturday (which wasn't necessary), and arrived right on time. Upon his arrival I gave him a quick tour of the places in need of repair and he went right to work. If you want someone to chat with, wait until he's done because he's all business. He has a rhythm to his work and will happily give you a full explanation of what he did and why once the job is completed. It took him just under 2 hours to complete our project and the quality lived up to the Yelp billing. He cleaned up, packed up, and then took the time to explain not only what he did but also how to prep and paint the areas once it all dried. I definitely recommend him for any drywall repair work you might have. read more

Baseboard repair and tall wall around bathtub repair. We have used Scott twice now, he is truly an artist, his work is amazing and he works super fast. We are one of those stories that we had two sets of bad handymen come in and tore our house apart. Scott repaired our walls after we had to remove the bad floor ceramic tile job that was done to us, also the bad install of baseboards having to be removed as well. 2nd job was when the glass tile around our bathtub got installed so badly that it had to all be removed. Scott came in and put the wall back to its original state. He does such an awesome job blending that you cannot even tell where his new works blends in, an incredible craftsman! He makes everything very convenient, asked for photos and then gave us a very reasonable quote within the hour too just like many others have stated. read more

The repairman texted me with an ETA and arrived within his estimated window. He went right to work. It took him about 30-45 minutes to repair my ceiling. He did a great job of patching, matching and blending. He gave me a regimen to prep for painting. The materials I had to buy were very reasonably priced and I had no trouble prepping and painting the repaired area. Overall, this was a very good experience. One thing...he stapled a plastic protective cloth to my ceiling but left a number of the staples in the ceiling. I noticed them after he was gone. Attention to detail. read more

Scott is a very professional tradesman. He worked with me on my budget, allowing me to hang the sheetrock and only charging me $375 to tape and texture 3 areas; one kitchen area and two areas in the bathroom. He was in and out in under 90 minutes with no return time required. He said to let it dry over night and recommended the sealer to use before painting. It took me only about 45 minutes to clean-up and I am ready to paint. We don't use baseboards so I will have to fill-in the gaps around the bottom of each area, but overall it looks pretty good.
