Today was my first time ordering to-go from Huong and I'm extremely pleased with how quick and efficient the staff were with my order. I called in 15 minutes to grab sautéed clams with garlic, chili & thai basil for my 97 year old grandma who absolutely loves that dish. I later called again 5 minutes later to order shaken filet mignon beef with fried rice because my dad was craving a delicious hearty meal for lunch. I made sure to ask my mother if she was 100% sure she didn't want anything, only for her to ask me to buy her bun mam... And thus, I added on another order at the desk. Upon walking in, I noticed that the whole place was remodeled into a perfectly low lit gorgeous interior with brand new chairs & booths. I was caught by surprise! Anyway, the staff team weren't upset or annoyed with my last minute add-ons, rather they were sweet and made sure I got everything that I'd ordered within 5 minutes of waiting. The bill came out to be $56, which in this economy, is an absolute bang for your buck! They made sure I got everything and even helped bring the packed food to my car, too! Outstanding staff, as always. Everyone loved the food and it is always a blessing to enjoy authentic, delicious meals from Huong and the kindness of their staff. Fermentation fish hot pot.. boy does that sounds like a big N O for some people. It doesn't sound appetizing when you first hear about it, and for the non-adventurous eaters, it definitely does not smell like rainbow and butterflies either. It's has a very strong odor and the stringent taste can be very off pudding, but this dish is only really meant for consumers who are open to things like durian, stinky tofu, offals etc. It's not for the feint of heart, so eat with caution! You'll love it or want to bury it 6 feet deep under lol. I've been to Huong a few times and every time I go, I always get inadequate customer service here. It's like their servers are not where to be found when I need them and they forget fairly easily. But the sad thing is that they're ever busy when I go so I don't get it and maybe never will. I do return because my traditional Vietbamese mother likes a few of their dishes. Lau Mam being one of them. They provide a lot of fresh vegetables (eggplants, and cabbage) and good amount of proteins(catfish, squid and shrimp). The broth, imo, is good. Not water down and flavored as it should be. Umami packed, subtly sweet and savory. You would eat with vermicelli noodles since you'd need something to tone down the flavored bomb broth. I am pretty sure there's better places out there that make it better but I have yet to find one yet. read more

Stopped by on a Saturday evening, and while it was crowded, my party of 3 didn't have a wait time to be seated! We parked at the adjacent shopping center. The ambiance inside was lively and full of groups, mostly families. The menu had a large breadth of items, reasonably priced: special dishes, appetizers, vermicelli, egg noodles, rice cakes, rice lpates, hot pot, vegetables, soups. As the portion sizes were huge, we ordered the mi xao gion bo (stir fried egg noodles with beef) and com bo luc lac (rice with shaking beef). Both dishes were packed with flavor and easy to share. Fantastic experience last night at Quan Huong restaurant and I even met the owner there too. Thursday night was not busy as Friday night but the food was simply delicious and impeccable tonight. I ordered the stewed catfish with fish sauce and the River snails and Bun Mam or stinky fish noodles soup. And pork belly stew with eggs for lunch tomorrow. Everything came out great and on time. With 3 male servers they got it under control and good atmosphere for a nice quiet evening. Coachella vibes on the TV and music playing a pretty cool place for dinner. Come and enjoy your favorite comfort food from South Vietnam mainly Saigon. I did not get sick because they have nice clean restroom and they have been in business for 10 years now. This is one of those restaurants that put 0 effort in the looks (paper cups, strong fish sauce smell everywhere) because they know it's all about the food and the food speaks for itself lol. We got the canh chua with catfish and tom rim thit ba roi (caramelized shrimp and pork). Both were flavorful. The canh chua is sweet and sour from the tamarind and pineapples. The catfish is super tender. The caramelized shrimp and pork is salty, sweet, sour, slightly spicy and goes so well with rice. The sauce is similar to a tomato based sweet and sour sauce. I was introduced to this place by my in laws and this is where you would get traditional Vietnamese food - not the pho or bun bo hue that you know, but rice and soups and dishes that aren't super well known. Walking into this place, you get greeted by a strong scent of something fermented which threw me off at first, but if you can get past the smell, you'll have a really great meal with very friendly service. There are random days that this place is super busy and other random days where it's super empty, but there's always at least a couple families in there having dinner. My favorites from this place is the canh chua, the caramelized catfish, bo luc lac, the garlic beef with vegetables, fish sauce chicken wings and the caramelized pork ribs and shrimp. I forgot my phone at home and didn't realize it until I was almost to the freeway so I had to turn around, and of course, I was really late and everyone was almost done eating by the time I got there. :( I ended eating whatever was ordered and available on the table since I didn't want to order a big plate and sitting there eating by myself. I had some of the lotus salad, rice noodles stir fried with seafood, chow mein stir fried with seafood, ong choy stir fried with escargots, snails cooked in coconut milk, and some of the hot and sour soup with catfish that was brought out last. Everything that I've got to taste was good. The scallops in the rice noodles and chow mein plates were very good, so were the vegetables that they used for those dishes. They were perfectly seasoned and not too salty. The sweet and sour soup was delicious as it was still piping hot when they brought it out. Wanted to get a Vietnamese homely style cooked meal and stumbled upon Quan Huong. Upon arrival, you'll be hit with a strong and pungent aroma of bun mam (Vietnamese Fermented Fish Noodle Soup). Apparently it's what they're known for and the smell is apparent throughout the restaurant. Braised Catfish (3/5) - The fish is braised with pork belly and sauteed onions. It's overly salty that I couldn't taste the fish well. The fish sauce is a little overdone in this dish. You'll have to order rice to balance out the saltiness. Fried fish with mango (3/5) - Crispy fried whole fish with mango. It's paired with a nuon cham (dipping fish sauce). Hot & sour hot pot with catfish and banana blossom (3.5/5) - Fresh meaty catfish in a hot & sour soup. Comes with banana blossom, celery, elephant ear stalk, rice paddy herbs, tomatoes, tamarind, and side of vermicelli noodles. The soup is a little on the salty side so you'll need to pair it with the noodles. Service was so-so with limited interaction besides bringing out the dishes; as expected in this type of restaurant. Came here at dinner time and it was busy with lots of families but luckily was able to snag a parking spot. Let me preface this review by saying that I have only eaten here to go and never for dine-in. The bun mam is what brings me back every time. Outside of my mother's bun mam, nothing can even compare until I tried Huong's version. Pretty similar to my mom's, and that in and of itself is a pretty big compliment. The broth is so deliciously fishy and has incredible depth. They give you enough fish and heo quay to keep you satisfied. Shrimp, and especially my favorite, the eggplants. If they don't fry them up first it won't taste right. Just pure amazing, good old country Viet food. Went to QH for dinner last night. It was crowed but they are really quick to get you a table. Rsvp is a must if you go more than 4. This restaurant belong to a Vietnamese famous comedian Hoài Tâm ( you can check his YouTube) he is very humble and lovely and if course he will make you laugh while eating:) he greeted us with a big smile and even let us take pictures with him. The foods are very very good, we ordered 9 dishes total and all of them are so delicious and the price is very very reasonable. This place used to be good for com Gia Dinh dishes but when we came last night it wasn't our best meal. Our favorite was the tamarind shrimp out of everything else we ordered. The clay pot fish and ribs weren't the best either, they were both somewhat bland. The stir fried water spinach wasn't as flavorful. Pricing were a bit steep for being in gg/westminster area and the food quality. Not to mention a huge cockroach in the restroom so imagine how dirty the kitchen would be, prolly not coming back after last night. I ordered from here per my uncle's request for a Lau Canh Chua Ca Bong Lao (sweet and sour catfish hotpot), and l also ordered other food items to share with my uncle's family and mine. The following was ordered: 1. Lau canh chua ca bong lao (sweet and sour catfish hotpot), Large: Surprisingly, it tasted home made. Not too sweet, not too sour. Just right. The only thing I really didn't like was that it had bamboo in it, which is not the usual vegetable that goes with the soup. I would rather prefer the traditional bac ha/giac mung (a sponge like celery stick). It would have tasted it even better. 2. Suon rim man (caramelized pork spare ribs): This came with a complementary side of cucumbers and pickled mustard greens like you're wlesting at home. The meat is decent with a good flavor, though not super flavorful (dam da). However, the meat was tender and soft. 3. Goi Ngot Sen voi tom thit (lotus salad w/ shrimp & pork): I didn't eat this, but it looked fresh and good. 4. Muc chien don (fried squid): I was looking forward to this as I love anything squid/octopus. By the time this got onto my uncle's table, who lives less than 2 miles away, it was already warmed and soft. It tasted really chewey once it was cold. 5. Dau Que xao tom va thit heo (string beans w/ shrimp and pork): It was the string beans were nice and crunchy. It's not overcooked. 6. Canh ga chien nuoc mam (fried chicken wings, fish sauce flavor): Not sure if the chicken was marinated in the fish sauce or if the sauce was cooked and poured over but it was too saucey. The chicken wasn't as crunchy, but the flavor is good, though I feel it tasted more soy sauce than fish sauce. Maybe less sauce would be good so that the chicken doesn't lose its crunch. 7. Pho Ap chao bo, mem (stir fried noodles w/ beef, soft): When we ordered this, we were asked if we wanted this hard or soft. We wanted it soft for my boys as they enjoyed eating the big white rice noodles. Because it's the "ap chao" style that it was pretty saucey, but I was glad that they separated the noodles from the sauce. This dish came with beef, broccoli, and mushrooms. It's very flavorful and savory, just the way I like it. Often, many places make the sauce too sweet for my taste. Add some sriracha to this, and it's perfect! Since we ordered to go, I can't comment on the service. However, I am expecting them to have good service based on my observation while waiting in the car for my food to be ready. I observed a bit of their service. There was a large party eating outside, and a staff member stood to the side the entire 15 mins I was waiting. He cleared the dishes as they were empty and returned to his post. He seems attentive and responsive to that party's needs. Most of the dishes I ordered were good and tasted like a home-cooked meal. We pretty much finished all the food with some leftover soup. My husband and I were pretty satisfied. read more
