I was just going to try it and the next thing I knew I had eaten half of it, lol. The recipes for the sauce and dough were created by the owner - not just bought frozen or canned. They don't skimp on cheese like a lot of pizza places. A nice local, family owned pizza joint that I highly recommend trying. They also offer discounts for Seniors, Military, Police and Firefighters.

Sophia's opened about six months ago and the location is suffering as the previous owner was less than kind to the patrons of the nearby Walker Roadhouse. The owner knows a thing or two about fresh homemade local ingredients. The sauce and pizza dough are made fresh daily and many of the toppings come from local Sobie Meats. The 16" deluxe was at least 18" and was loaded from edge to edge with quality ingredients for $15.99. The crust was similar to New York style, but just a little crispier. The breadsticks were light, airy, and melted in my mouth! Food was made from scratch and ready to walk out the door within 20 minutes. There are a few tables and chairs for dine-in, and the decor is a little shabby, but it has a nice hole in the wall feel. Give this new local business owner a chance!

They also have one desert called Cinni Sticks. Gino makes a Sicilian pizza which he learned from his Grandmother. Gino makes his own sauce from scratch which is a family secret. He makes his own sausage, lasagna. He also makes his own chicken for subs and pizza. Everything is excellent here. The family atmosphere is amazing. They do not have dine in since Covid hit. My favorite is his Sicilian (sausage, banana pepper and bacon), and the Barbecue Chicken pizza (which come with onion and bacon). I get light onion but omg you're in for a treat no matter what you order. Ask Gino about the Sicilian and he will give you back the back story.

My pizza was given to me with the warning that the bottom of the box was still very hot. It was still plenty warm when I arrived home 30 minutes later. The crust was perfect, you could use the outer crust like breadsticks. Great amount of toppings, just the right amount of sauce, and the ordered addition and change of toppings were done flawlessly. The owner told me 3 times how long they had been open with pride. I agree, great spot I will return to, as should you. Recommended

If a pizza place fails at pizza then that's a bad sign. I usually just come here for drinks. And the revamp of their drink menu is impressive. So I went ahead with a 4 star. They now make a great old fashioned. You won't agree if you are one of those people that likes them almost as if you're drinking straight from the whiskey bottle. I'll move to scotch for that. They have a generous amount of sugar with the bitters. To me, that's how it should be. But many people have their preferences with this drink. The pizza I got was a 12 inch with a handful of toppings. About 26-27 dollars. Quite expensive for what is suppose to be a high end pizza. The biggest failure? Almost no sauce. I am not an "extra" sauce guy. But there has to be something discernible. And there was not. Add what seemed like way too much cheese and you have covered up what sauce you might have tasted. Would I get a pizza here again? No. Years ago I remember when they did a real cheap 10 inch pizza after 11pm for a few dollars. I enjoyed these immensely. There was never the same problem with these. Unfortunately they no longer do this. I still like this place for drinks. I will say that the dimly lit bar in such a giant place is unusual but very welcome. Some large bars have lights that are way too bright. There are not many people that want to stare into the sun on an evening out. I look forward to trying a few more of their new drinks. I realize there are scores of people that love the pizza here. And perhaps the person that made mine had an off day. I can only speak from my experience. But I likely will not try it again since my favorite pizza is at a different establishment. And I do not get pizza that often.

The Foolery came up on Yelp and figured we could not go wrong with pizza to feed our starving children. They have a great selection of Detroit style pizzas here. We didn't feel like being adventurous so went with the pepperoni. I've always loved Detroit style pizzas due to the thicker crust that's crispy on the sides and The Foolery passed the assignment. Pizza was really good! And as a Chicagoan, that means a lot! The size of the pizza is a little small - but you get 6 slices so if you're hungry or got a big group to feed, I would plan accordingly. Remember Detroit style is a rectangle pie, not circular like a standard whole pizza. We got the Elote dip as an appetizer and it was a clever take on one of my favorite Mexican snacks. It came with elote corn and chips on the side. Like I said, clever and not bad! Our server that day was awesome. We had a group of about 13 people and they just had small pub tables that fit 4 people each. But no problem because he was willing to organize the whole front room and put 4 of those tables side by side to accommodate all of us. He did it happily and without complaints. Our food did take some time to come out, but that's ok. I was amongst great company and had a good drink in hand, we were out of town and all was good. I would come here again.
