It's been 13 years since I last ate a pizza at this place and I'm just amazed that they never disappoint! I always used to order the thin crust veggie and boy they are not stingy with their toppings. The quality of fresh vegetables is phenomenal. They do not over load it with sauce and it's cooked to perfection. And eating as much good food as you can without killing yourself in the process, so you can keep doing the above. As such, pizza isn't a permanent fixture in my diet, but when the non-bougie pizza craving hits, take out Hungry Howie's is my go to for chill evenings in. Their crusts are legitimately delicious, and the flavored options are a genius move. I've been told by pizza connoisseurs this place is better than Pizza Hut, Dominoes, and the like. Wings are meh , so we don't get that. And have never tried their other menu items. There's nowhere to sit and eat inside. There are crappy tables outside the now defunct wings spot next door but zero vibes, you couldn't pay me to sit and eat there. Since I'm trying to balance indulgence with self preservation, I usually go for their thin crust gluten free pizza with chicken, mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions. Add some jarred jalapeños when you get home and suddenly Friday night feels like an event worth surviving the week for. Tip: download their app and order ahead for pickup. Growing up in Detroit, this was a favorite of mine as a kid. I loved Little Caesars but nothing compared to the flavor crust for me. When I first moved to California, the one in the valley was a disappointment. We didn't go back. But years later I found this location, and it has been a staple for a decade now. First of all, you have to go in knowing what you will get. Seeing the reviews, I'm guessing people are comparing this to Prince, Prime or Purgatory. But this isn't that. HH is a fantastic family friendly pizza joint. Think Dominos but with taste. Their sauce is fantastic. A bit sweet like I like it. The bread is always a hit. We order ours with extra Parmesan. I can't speak so some of the issues other have had, but to me that staff has always been great. Very friendly and always delivering a fresh hot pizza. There's no place to eat inside. A few tables outside but really your car is about the best option. And you definitely want to eat at least a slice while it's hot. Beware though, I'm still recovering from the burn on the roof of my mouth. All in all, I would highly recommend it for a family friendly experience at a good price. Be sure to check out their deals. Went to this place on a whim because it was open and close to where I live. At first, I didn't expect much because it looked like any other pizza spot and the reviews were iffy but the Detroit style pizza and wings were incredible. Honestly I barely get on Yelp to write a review so you know when I do the food is insanely good. This is by far the best casual pizza spot in SoCal. This was my first time at a Hungry Howie's, so he took the time to explain the menu and recommend what to order. He even made it all himself! Hardworking man with a great backstory just trying to support his children. The atmosphere felt like family. He even set up a table for my friends and I outside. This type of hospitality would never happen at a Dominoes or Pizza Hut (do they even still exist? Wonder why!) fresh ingredients, even better vibes. But let's talk more about the food itself. I've never been a fan of stuffed crust pizza but this place changed the trajectory of my future experiences with stuffed crust pizza. Fun fact - they invented the flavor crust pizza! I had a really disappointing experience at this Hungry Howie's. The employee helping me was wearing an AirPod and clearly not listening when I spoke. When I asked for ranch, he immediately cut me off to say it cost extra, even though I had already paid. Over 10 years ago I made a pledge that my stomach will no longer be a graveyard for animals. These days it is only a graveyard for various pills I purchase in Mexico and an abundance of alcohol. With that being said, I am so happy that hungry Howie's pizza offers so many amazing vegetarian options. I loved their vegetarian pizza and today for the 1st time I tried their vegetarian sandwich. I ordered for pickup online the day before Valentine's Day for 2pm. The online process was easy. I got two small pizzas - 1 cheese w/butter cheese crust, 1 pepperoni with ranch crust (my personal favorite) and they're limited time heart shaped pizza. MY KIDS LOVE'D IT! I ordered smalls because I prefer a more prominent delicious flavored crust ratio. I also opt for the small cupped pepperonis rather than the regular ones. The heart shaped pizza was cute yet not pre-sliced, but that's no biggie. It was like a mini deep dish pizza! HH also offers a limited time additional crust flavor, right now it's Dill Pickle. One time I had the limited time Hot Cheetos crust and it was SO GOOD. This is a fun place if you want to level up your pizza game but still stay within the Domino's/Pizza Hut/Papa John's budget. We order at least once a week from them, and the owner kind of knows my voice and my order, so we are a good client of his. But today I clearly ordered regular wings (besides the pizza) but he had given us buffalo instead. When I told him I clearly ordered regular wings and he should change it, he was very rude.
