Its a sad day in the hood. I drove by here the other day and noticed a piece of paper in the window. So i came back to see what it was. Sure enough there is a demo permit in the window. Man im hurt, i grew up in this place with their breakfast sandwiches, burgers and chili cheese fries. This place is a hood staple. Ill definitely miss it. The lady inside was always really nice. Not to say that sometimes it cant be dangerous to come here but sometimes it was worth the risk. I hope to make it back again before they are gone. read more

Today I took it back OLD school and had a taste for Hungry Harold's I don't know why because I haven't had it since I first moved out here from Chicago in the late 70's!! First I had to navigate through traffic from my house on Centinella and LaBrea to Crenshaw and Slauson which was definitely a mission dodging 5 o clock traffic, in a Monday, a hour before game 4 of a possible Laker playoff elimination playoff game! So the pastrami was a little from what I remembered I could've had 2 and I forgot they add chili it wasn't what I remembered and could've left this memory in the past, it wasn't bad it was just so so not what I'm used to having. read more

But i'm here to tell you, ITS NOT. I ordered 1 cheeseburger combo, and one cheeseburger by itself (it was a long day). While the fries never withstood the test of time they did satisfy me (not crispy, under salted, still good to me). The two burger came out fairly quick, given there were no other customers. ONly about 5-6 minutes. They were fresh and i like the onions and other ingredients they used. The patty WASN'T a smash, but it was thick like a hockey puck. Great quality burger, glad I got two. It's not the same! This is only my 3rd time. They moved across thr street. The hamburger patty was AWFUL. it's frozen pattie, no seasoning AT ALL. CHEWY because it was probably frozen, so I am beyond disappointed. Fries were cold, like Luke warm. My fruit punch was watered down no ice. I was driving or I would have gotten ALL MY MONEY BACK. Usually, it is amazing. For the first time in years, my food is bland. I'm not sure what happened. Maybe they're getting too popular. I don't get it. I was told to go to the back door to pick up DoorDash while I'm in the front looking at my food. That was fine, but the taste is very bland this evening guys please I don't know what happened, but I wasn't happy. Also, I thought curry chicken has potatoes. Where are the potatoes? I used to come here when I was younger and the same items are served but management has changed... that means smaller portions and of course higher prices. I would usually go for their bacon and egg sandwich or their pastrami sandwich. I recommend driving up and looking at the menu IF you want to try it or have questions. If you call with questions, the asian woman that is usually there can be a bit rude over the phone. She does not like to provide information on prices or details or the menu. I love supporting small businesses because it keeps home in the neighborhood but sadly they lose sight of customer needs and only focus on the money. read more

I've driven by this place idk how many times but just never pulled in. Was in the mood for a pastrami sandwich, so I called in my order, asked to have my pastrami grilled and bread too. Let me just tell you it was amazing. Not a lot of places do grilled pastrami but it had the perfect amount of mustard & pickles..... the little peppers that came with it were so FIRE, had my tears flowing n nose running. Yummy shoe string fries with generous seasoning salt. Can't wait to go back and try something else. Hope you enjoy too. read more

This is the the breakfast burritos. I love their pastrami but the bacon breakfast burrito was not good. The bacon is ok I guess but there was barely any cheese, and the worst of all the hash brown was mush. Ugh I specifically asked for them to be crispy. They also didn't include salsa and the burrito really needed it. I'd never order this again. read more

I come to Hungry Harold's at least twice a week for breakfast. Their breakfast is solid. I get the egg and cheese sandwich ($3.49) and breakfast burrito ($5.76) often. I have met a number of people who've been coming here for 30 years. The new owner, Susan, is fantastic. The pricing is extremely affordable. There is plenty of parking. To the new owner: I been coming This establishment called- hungry Harold's since I was in High School way back in the 80s Way Before you came the 10th owner of hungry Harold Now on this day 9/4/2021. I went to hungry harold's and ordered my usual chili cheeseburger combo with A extra side of fries now here's the problem He put my extra thing of fries on top of my box and the fries fail off the box when I was walking to my car when I politely went back to him to let him know that my fries fail The owner told me that it's my problem in a soft manner voice but at the same time "NOT" given a fuck! instead of just giving me Some more Fries knowing that I paid my money to you, but it's OK you don't have to worry about me coming People of all color support your business and have for decades but by you being a new owner this is how you treat your customers you're gonna lose a lot of business. read more

I can't lie, when I first saw this place I was scared to try it because I went to other spots around the neighborhood (not naming any names) and had bad experiences including food poisoning! But not here folks, I was surprised with excellent customer service, great prices and man do these guys know how to cook an egg! Don't judge a book by its cover. Why would you ever go to McDonald's for breakfast when for much less you can get a gourmet breakfast sandwich and OJ. Tip: You can always do the Slauson / Harold's special and grab some crumb donuts across the way and use them as buns. read more

We had a variety of beef sliders, loaded nachos with shrimp (OMG so good!) and their fried salmon bites with garlic fries. The salmon was cooked to perfection and we're not dry like some fried can cause. We also had a few cocktails and my fave was the Red Bottom but with Tito's vodka. The service was super friendly and helpful and always checked in on us. Highly recommend if you're in town to visit the Sofi Stadium or another nearby venue as it was only 9 minutes away.

The security at the door was very nice, and the host was welcoming. She told us we could sit anywhere since it was pretty empty, so we chose seats at the bar to watch the large screens. After we sat down, got comfortable, and started looking at the menu, the bartender came over and asked us to move to another area. She explained that the other servers did not have any tables and did not want to be the only one serving. Meanwhile, other people were also choosing to sit at the bar, which made it confusing why we were the ones being asked to move. That interaction felt frustrating and unwelcoming. When guests are told they can sit anywhere, they should not be asked to relocate for internal staffing reasons. That is something management should handle behind the scenes, not something placed on customers. It completely changed the experience for us. We each had one drink and decided to leave. Very disappointing first impression. Staff should be better trained on how to handle situations like this without making customers feel unwelcome.
