Today I took it back OLD school and had a taste for Hungry Harold's I don't know why because I haven't had it since I first moved out here from Chicago in the late 70's!! First I had to navigate through traffic from my house on Centinella and LaBrea to Crenshaw and Slauson which was definitely a mission dodging 5 o clock traffic, in a Monday, a hour before game 4 of a possible Laker playoff elimination playoff game! So the pastrami was a little from what I remembered I could've had 2 and I forgot they add chili it wasn't what I remembered and could've left this memory in the past, it wasn't bad it was just so so not what I'm used to having.

My homie stayed right down the street. When his mom would make vegan meals we would dip to Harold's. We'd spend our change at Slauson donuts. Won't miss them, but glad to see they're in a spot across the street in Woody's lot.

Need something tasty to eat if you're near Slauson and Crenshaw? Hungry Harold's is one of many places in the area that would be a good place to stop. If it's the morning, you can't go wrong with a breakfast burrito. Afternoon, there's always a chilidog, chili burger and/or chili fries. Friendly staff and it's easy to get in and out of. Ample parking and if you need something sweet, there's a donut shop across the parking lot. (not promoting them) Give it a try.

    Pastrami Sandwich Meal

I've driven by this place idk how many times but just never pulled in. Was in the mood for a pastrami sandwich, so I called in my order, asked to have my pastrami grilled and bread too. Let me just tell you it was amazing. Not a lot of places do grilled pastrami but it had the perfect amount of mustard & pickles..... the little peppers that came with it were so FIRE, had my tears flowing n nose running. Yummy shoe string fries with generous seasoning salt. Can't wait to go back and try something else. Hope you enjoy too.

Definitely an LA staple for a reason! Get the patty melt! The fries were good too! I felt like I was eating a patty melt made in heaven. I f**'d my plate up!

I actually never saw that many seagulls in the city side. Parking is at Ralphs though I'm unsure if you could park there or not. The bathroom sink has the most narrow faucet ever. The faucet is 1 in above the sink so I don't know how people wash their hands. These are what we ordered 1 Plantain + Crab $20.00 - 3/5. I fried plantain is good with the little bit of crabs on the side. Dish is creative but overall not extraordinary. 1 Root Beer Braised Short Rib - $44.00 5/5 this is the most delicious and my favorite dish. The mashed potato is so creamy and beef is so soft. It is the most creamy and buttery mashed potato I've ever had. 1 Jollof Platter $28.00 + Berbere Shrimp $12.00 - 4/5. The spicy rice dish has enough moisture and dryness. The shrimp was grilled in creme sauce. 1 Garlic Noodle $22.00 2/5. It tastes like soy sauce noodles because I couldn't really taste the garlic part of it. 1 Plantain Sticky Cake $15.00 5/5 toffee pudding style and is amazing. Moist and creamy. Overall I would definitely come back. Service is outstanding and water is filled with bottle and we could constantly refill it.

The place itself is very modern and nice. Overall the vibe it basically a Houston's-type place. And service was good. All of the food overall was very good. Nothing really too crazy. To me, the menu is a little... boring. But, I will say everything was tasty. We got the Cajun shrimp salad (which was simple and clean but tasty), a cheese pizza for the kids (which was good!), a brisket French dip (very tasty and a horseradish sauce with a LOT of bite), a vodka pasta (was good but it actually is TOO big a portion to eat by one's self), the Ahi Tuna frites (the tuna was good and served with a nice green sauce), and the grilled cabbage side (with brown butter and some pomegranate molasses--it was actually my favorite thing!). The key distinctive thing about Laurel Grill seems to be that a lot of things get cooked by that fire which really adds a nice smoky touch (like the shrimp and the ahi tuna and the cabbage). My only major complaint would be the fries were just okay. After a minute or two they weren't crispy anymore. As good as everything else was, I thought they would step things up with the fries but they were just average. Anyways, while I overall am not that excited by the menu, it definitely is a great place to go where everybody will be able to find something tasty to eat. And overall, the portions were pretty fair.

The security at the door was very nice, and the host was welcoming. She told us we could sit anywhere since it was pretty empty, so we chose seats at the bar to watch the large screens. After we sat down, got comfortable, and started looking at the menu, the bartender came over and asked us to move to another area. She explained that the other servers did not have any tables and did not want to be the only one serving. Meanwhile, other people were also choosing to sit at the bar, which made it confusing why we were the ones being asked to move. That interaction felt frustrating and unwelcoming. When guests are told they can sit anywhere, they should not be asked to relocate for internal staffing reasons. That is something management should handle behind the scenes, not something placed on customers. It completely changed the experience for us. We each had one drink and decided to leave. Very disappointing first impression. Staff should be better trained on how to handle situations like this without making customers feel unwelcome.
