Hundley Cellars is a beautiful spot to come and enjoy a glass of wine. On the weekends, they seem to have a ton of live entertainment and numerous regulars who frequent the winery. We stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon and were happy to do a quick tasting. Tastings are $1/ pour or $2/ice wine tasting. I tried the Riesling and the Blonde Ambition (a Riesling/Gewurztraminer blend) as well as their Ice wine. The ice wine was the highlight here. The Riesling was very light, a pleasant sipping wine, but not to my taste exactly. The Blonde Ambition is certainly a sweeter wine and not something I enjoyed. The ice wine on the other hand was great. It wasn't too syrupy as many other ice wines can be and was a really great addition to the wines at Hundley. Overall, I didn't think the quality of wines was excellent, but they're decent and the atmosphere is nice and welcoming. In terms of the tasting, our bartender was sweet, but really didn't have anything to say about the wines that we were trying. We asked a question and she referred us to the wine maker. Not a problem at all, but certainly not your traditional wine tasting. In general, it seems like Hundley caters to repeat customers who come for a nice spot to hang out and listen to love music. We recently went on a wine tour of 5 places in the Geneva area. Hundley Cellars was our first stop and it was my favorite. This winery is family owned and operated, and it's clear that they love what they're doing. It's a relatively new addition in the area, set in a sort of log cabin with a pond and seating areas out in the back. Super cute. Very clean and with the nicest restrooms that we saw on our tour! Their wines include both reds and whites, dry to sweet. We tried literally everything they had in stock and we enjoyed all of them. Came home with a bottle of Niagara and one of Merlot. I'm not sure why, but Ohio wines do not taste like CA wines - the Pinot Grigio is much more "grapey" than an Italian or Californian version, but we enjoyed it very much. Did not eat any snacks or foods but we will definitely return to this spot. A new fave! read more

This review is based on three visits in three years. On each visit we were greeted by super-friendly employees who were anxious to please their customers. We were offered a taste of a couple of their wines before we bought a couple of bottles. Really nice hospitality. Their food is quite tasty also. I don;'t think I have EVER liked brussels sprouts. This place is not just another pretty winery (though it is!), it delivers with the best food I have seen at any Northeastern Ohio winery! I have eaten here twice now and the the chef behind the scene has made his way around Cleveland from places like The B Spot and the former Metropolitan Cafe and I am just going to go on the record and say the food here is better than both of those restaurants. Yes, I know this is a bold, brash statement in the land of Michael SymonLand but there I said it! Besides, I will trade wine here for a B Spot Milkshake any day...its a better value for sugar calories...lol. Their Traminette wine here is delightful and fresh and the Blonde Ambition is also a highly drinkable white. Top to bottom the wines are highly drinkable and fun...what more can you ask from a winery. Hundley does source some of their reds from other areas (like California) and to me this makes sense since it is a weakness for our wine region to produce depth with fruit-forward reds. This may not always be the case here so be sure to ask and they will tell you. Oh, did I tell you how good their food is here??? Portobello Flatbread, Hunter Sausage Board, Shrimp on Toasted Garlic Crostini and some of the best potstickers I can remember eating in ages. Welcome to Ashtabula County Hundley Cellars, you not only have added a great local winery and yet another tourist attraction to our county, you have also given us one of the better restaurants in the county. The building is beautiful inside with all the wood, love it! And so were the people working there! Friendly and engaging. They tell you off the bat they don't do really sweet wines, and they don't. But even I (who loves sweet wines) thoroughly enjoyed their wines, especially the Harvest Red, mmmm. Their food is great too. Unique and wonderfully flavorful. My husband and I decided to tour and taste at a few Geneva wineries yesterday. Of the three we stopped at, this was, by far, our favorite. We were welcomed promptly (despite a packed tasting bar) and given the wine menu to look over. The woman behind the counter was very knowledgeable and made suggestions to bridge my love of dry wines with my husband's preference for sweet. The wine list is quite extensive and her suggestions were perfection. We settled on a bottle and charcuterie plate and proceeded to the back deck that overlooks the vineyard and grounds. Seating is plentiful and the grounds have picnic seating and fire pit seating, if you so choose. I loved the Pinot Grigio. We each had a glass and corked the remaining bottle. I could've stayed here all day, but it would've made for a long drive back to Cleveland. I would recommend this spot without hesitation. Lovely people. Lovely winery. Newer to the area, this winery is a hit on all 4 items that are important, in my opinion. 1) atmosphere - inside...a great big seating area with live music as well as a nook for a cozy retreat if you want a fire and a little more quiet. Outside - a deck and a pond with tables galore. Many options...what more can you ask for? 2) wine - great wine, that's what more you can ask for. They have talent and it is nice to have some new sophistication in the area, but it's not snobby sophistication, it feels comfortable and friendly. 3) service - just plain old good people. Busy, but service with a smile and the patience to step back and explain wine and food for those that wanted to know. 4) food - delicious. The butcher, the baker, the pickle maker is a must have.
