Quality has decreased over the past few years by way of cutting corners. Moo Goo Guy Pan now arrived with no sauce of any kind. Very dry. Chicken and veggies appeared to be steamed since they showed no evidence of being cooked in a wok. Shrimp with lobster sauce had much smaller shrimp and the sauce had no flavor. Salty, salty, salty ... The fried pork dumplings were not fully cooked. The stuffing was ok but the non-fried side of the dumpling was not fully cooked. The General Tso's chicken breading was soggy. Happened to see this place in the plaza by Drug Mart and thought we would give it a try. Called in an order and picked up to take home and eat. Both meals were dry, chicken had an odd taste to it and the cashews tasted stale. After a few bites, we were done. Not sure if this place is under new ownership in the past few years or what. We heard it was a great place a few years ago. Definitely disappointed in our experience. As a first time customer, we also felt the restaurant was pretty dirty inside. Definitely didn't give a good first impression. Sorry Hunan, we won't be back. read more

This place is below average and only quantities are large. The lady over there forced us to order large portion of "Vegetable Delight" for two of us which was huge and almost all broccoli after ordering "Broccoli & Shrimp." I swore I'd never go back after I got a horrible meal two years ago. I actually took it back to the restaurant the next day and demanded my money back. It was inedible. One of my favorite Chinese dishes is General Tao chicken. Two years ago my dish had chicken that was so over cooked it was like leather. So I'm a glutton for punishment and I decided after two years my wife and I would give it another try. (Only a mile away) The chicken again was very tough but not so far as to say it was like leather. So now I realize what this restaurant must be doing, I would bet that they have their chicken pre-cooking all evening in some pan so they can expedite getting out meals faster. It looks like the little Chinese lady that owns the place is also the cook and the dishwasher. The restaurant has become takeout only. Anybody who thinks they can simmer chicken pieces for a couple hours must not eat chicken or have any taste whatsoever. As I was leaving with my carry out meal last night, $35.00. The lady told me she remembered me bring back that meal and that she wished that I would never come back. For a restaurant not to cook fresh and tell a customer not to return because they do not cook fresh is suicide in this market place. Chinese restaurants are a dime a dozen and they come and go and this one is ready to GO! One would think that if a meal came back that the owner would look at it and figure out what was wrong and correct the issue. But not here. My all time favorite Chinese take out location of all time. I was introduced to Hunan of Chester 2 years ago and can't get it out of my head! It is so unique in flavor even though they make classics that you've probably had a million times! They have the best eggrolls of all time! I personally love their pork lo mein, general chicken, and beef with broccoli. I was not a fan of their spare ribs but they weren't bad I just prefer the boneless ones you get at other Chinese takeout restaurants. Some favorites of my family are the sesame chicken, wonton soup, Kung Pao chicken, and sweet and sour chicken. I haven't ordered something I haven't enjoyed yet. I went to visit my friends in OH. My friends recommended Hunan Chester b/c the owner May is well known in this community. She had this place for like 20 years and knows the customers by it's dish. I went in there with a few of my friends and we had the crab ragoon, general tso's chicken, (can't decide over governor's chicken or general tso's chicken" and beef lo mein. It was all delicious! The services was excellent! We met May, a friendly, happy spirited person! You can tell she LOVES her job! She tended to us to make sure everything was good. I eat here more frequently than any other place. Mae will get her hubby to make the food as spicy as I want. The major problem is they don't have two of my favorite dishes. Chinese Eggplant, and Wor Dip Har (butterfly shrimp). Everything they do have is better than almost anywhere else. TERRIBLE service!!! We were there tonight and there were less than 20 people in the restaurant, so it wasn't too busy. Our waitress brought out 1 of 4 things my husband had ordered and said she'd be right back. After 15 minutes we flagged her down and asked if the rest of his order was coming. She said yes, and walked away. After that she ignored us and avoided us at all cost!! I was finally able to get her attention after 20 more minutes and asked if his order was ever coming. She looked like a deer in the headlights and didn't have any response. I asked if she could take it off the bill. She NEVER once apologized for not bringing out 75% of an order!! Acted like it was no big deal at all. We will NEVER go back there again! It was dirty and the staff was not helpful. When the cashier found out what happened, she told us they didn't even have one of the things my husband had ordered and our waitress was supposed to have told us that.
