We had a fantastic dinner from this Chinese restaurant, completely satisfied! Everything we ordered was hot and fresh and tasty, even though we ordered carry out. The soups are excellent, great broth and plenty of won tons that the kids love. We got General's chicken, sesame chicken, and sesame shrimp, and they were all spot-on. The General's had that great balance of heat and tang, and the sesame dishes were loaded with flavor. The pork fried rice is excellent, and the chicken rice noodles are also a favorite. Egg rolls are both crispy and delicious. I am also a fan of their egg foo young. Service is genuinely great when dining in, attentive, friendly, and quick. Ordered Sesame Chicken and Hot n Spicy Shrimp. Both were heavily battered, I was expecting the Sesame to be like that but spicy shrimp I got specifically because last time I order it, it was not breaded and it was whole shrimps. Ordered 2 general's chicken meals and was very dissatisfied. I wouldn't really consider this Chinese food, the chicken they gave us seemed like they coated it in pancake batter or something. The coating was almost thicker than the small pieces of chicken inside. If I would have went to giant eagle right beside I could have got frozen general tso's that tasted better. We went Saturday 12/14/24. It was horrible!!! Waited 15 min to.be seated, another 15 b4 a wateress showed up,another 30 min b4 horrible food ( if you can.call.it that) came.the place had maybe 4 tables with customers. Our food cold hard rice,cold eggroll,Luke warm sweetsour,... everything was either cold ,old, Luke warm. We complained ,they nuked out inedible meal. Made it worse!! Really good food an attentive service! It's in a very unassuming location, but it's super nice when you walk in. I had orange chicken, steamed broccoli, fried rice, and crab rangoons. Ordered some Chinese food around 3pm, the order was for couple egg rolls shrimp fired rice and sweet and sour pork, a smaller pint of fried rice all so came with it. Had some good ratings on google so figured why not? Well the sweet and sour pork was way over cooked like hard rocks, I couldn't even cut one with a knife, and if I threw it at the wall I might knock a hole in the wall. The shrimp fried rice was so, so, not very tasteful and the egg rolls were WAY WAY over cooked hard and dark like someone walked away from the fryer for too long. I don't understand why people like this place the food is not very good for Chinese. I won't be going back and suggest you don't either find another place until they get a better cook. read more

If you're looking for a great Chinese restaurant in the middle of Amish country, look no further. Tai Pan is surprisingly delightful and delicious, with enormous portions and great prices. I've been going to Tai Pan since I was a kid and the food remains unchanged. It's very good food. I haven't had anything on the menu that isn't bad, but my favorite is the sesame chicken and kung poa chicken. The nice thing about their spicy dishes is that you can get killer spicy is you like it that hot. The chefs don't hold back, and it will burn a hole right through your tongue, I love the wonton soup which has a flavorful chicken broth and homemade noodles which are thick and you may need a fork to eat them. Prices are very reasonable. You can get a lunch for about $6 or so, and dinners are about $10. Plus they give you enough food to last for another meal, so box it up and save it for later. You will probably spend less here than at McDonalds. Tai Pan also supports the local community. They are always happy to provide a gift certificate for a local fundraiser. I am very disappointed in Tai Pan. I have been going to them for probably 20 years. And always thought that they were the best restaurants in Middlefield. The last two times we ordered from them the food was horrific. The eggrolls were burnt our food was very bland and the potstickers were less than OK. The best part of our meal was the shrimp chips. I am disappointed I have to give this review one star. This place deserves negative stars. I have unfortunately eaten at this place more than I would like to admit (girlfriend likes it for some reason). The best part was the crab rangoon that was only slightly overcooked. The hot and sour soup had absolutely no hot or sour taste. It was just a thick tasteless mess. I like a spicy dish and have requested "hot" on previous trips. It was not spicy at all. This was the case for many different dishes on different visits (girlfriend). I have eaten Chinese food in many cities and countries and this is the worst crap I have ever had to try and eat. I guess this what I should expect for Middlefield Ohio. If anyone opened a competitive Chinese restaurant with any experience, this place would collapse form lack of business. Compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area, Taipan has the best quality of food. I was sad they moved from G-ville to Middlefield about 10 years ago, but I still order from them when I'm in the area.
