Just ok. Probably will not return. Because of the texture of the dough, I think the dumplings were frozen. Though fried, they also seemed soggy. Sauce was not flavorful. We also tried the egg roll which was good but did not come with sauce. This was take-out, so the sauce packets may have been lurking somewhere in the restaurant. We really love Hop Hing and it has become a go to place when we want to treat ourselves to something special or just looking for a great meal. We love their soups, especially the Won Ton or Chicken Rice and I love all their shrimp options. The combination dinners are a great value. We got a chicken chow mein combo, there was more rice than chow mein and there was only 1cup of chow mein and it was mostly onions. Very few other veggies like traditional chow mein. Our S&S pork was the size of a quarter and only a dime size piece of meat inside and it was horribly greasy. The pork egg foo young, was as thin as a pancake and it was FULL of all vegetables, again an over bearing amount of onion. The few pieces of pork that were in there, were tough and tasted old. The egg roll was full of grease and was inedible. The only good thing about our dinner was the spare ribs, they were delicious, what parts were not fatty. Spending $42 for dinner and having it taste like grease was a huge disappointment. They've really really gone down hill, from the first time we tried them a few years ago. Sorry to say, we won't be going back. It's a shame how they take advantage of their loyal customers. I hope they raise their stands and stop ripping people off. read more

First-time visit! Food is typical American Chinese fare, served piping hot on 9" styrofoam plates. Diner tables, no tablecloths, very limited seating, mostly a take-out place. Most items marked spicy can be made with little or no spice, if desired. Lots of cold canned soda pop flavors, Coke, Sprite, Cherry Coke, Dr. Pepper, iced tea, etc., but bottled water (only $1) is unrefrigerated. Hot tea is not served to everyone automatically, but you can order it. We were uncomfortably cold inside the restaurant tonight. read more

My family and I came to Hop Hing a little after they opened on Saturday. We ordered about $30 worth of food and it wasn't good. The lo mein smelled old and tasted that way too. The fried dumplings weren't fried at all and the pork inside tasted funny. The woman who took our order was rude and short with us when we had questions about the food choices. Food is ready really fast - the food is good - the menu is pretty much the same as other Chinese restaurants of this kind. The food is pretty consistent and we have eaten here several times. Food is great, but so much inconsistency with phone orders. Sometimes there's no answer, other times it rings and rings ... or when they answer they ask you to pay cash bc system not working. Has happened multiple times w to-go orders. They need to fix the phone issue. read more

Wow. I've been to mentor to eat for the last 20 plus years and have never been to Hop Hing Chinese Restaurant! It just always looked like all the others and I generally eat healthier food now. It was 9:15pm on a Wednesday and I was hungry for dinner. I called and ordered steamed shrimp and vegetables with sauce on side. I couldn't believe how much I got for less than $10! The portions were great and shrimp and veggies were fresh , crunchy and delicious! Lots of green veggies which I love! I had three small plate portions and was stuffed and still had another serving left for the next day. Having sauce on side was great cause I could just drizzle a bit over my portion! Ordering and picking up 20 minutes before close I wasn't sure and they did amazing! Great COVID procedures with hand sanitizer, too for pickup! Really good food and a great selection. I would say the food selection stands out among other fast/ convenient Chinese food restaurants. The real Advantage here is the friendliness and personality ( which are not the same by the way) of the staff. They're professional and attentive while being funny and personable. Depending on the level of the restaurant in the atmosphere this may or may not be desirable. And this case it's a very pleasant and welcomed surprise. My wife used to get lunch from this place all the time. She used to work nearby so it was convenient. We live about 20 minutes away so cannot go here all the time, unfortunately. It was ok. Wonton soup was good. Ordered the ribs as an appetizer. just so so. Felt like the sauce was just poured on after cooking. Fried rice was not so good. It was very yellow in color and barely any pork. Couldn't even see any egg. Only small pieces of onion. Very little of flavor. main dish was supposed to be Szechuan in flavor . But it wasn't. When I picked up I saw the daily special on the wall as chicken mei fun. I asked the girl why didn't you offer fun when I asked. She said you asked about fan not fun that'll be 26.50. Don't be fooled by the strip mall area that this place is in. I wasn't too sure about going in when I first saw it but I'm glad I did. My wife and I ordered General Tso's chicken, some fried potstickers, and a couple of eggrolls to share. The eggrolls were nice and crunchy on the outside and full of flavor on the inside. The potstickers were full of meat and delicious. The General Tso's was exactly the way we like it. A little more sweet than spicy and lots of sauce with large chunks of chicken.
