I have ordered here before and notice that the last few times the food quality had changed and that the service was not so good. So, I decided to order something simple.. Beef fried rice, how could you mess this up. Opened the container and the beef was white. Seemed concerning to me so I went back. I explained that I was concerned about the beef being white and was immediately approached by the manager with attitude and told unless sauce is on it won't have color. The manager kept saying it's steak, well in all my years I never seen white steak. Again, with concern of getting sick I asked for a refund, but the manager kept saying you have to get something else. Anybody in their right mind wouldn't want any food at this point. She wanted to go back and forth and I said I don't want to argue. Very unprofessional. I will never go there again. What type of meat are you really serving First Wok? read more

Crab Rangoon was hot and not bad. For just under $15 I got the crab rangoon and teriyaki chicken. The chicken was hot but entirely completely average. It was just chopped chicken with a couple broccoli florets and a soy sauce flavored sauce. It wasn't really sweet or teriyaki at all. I ordered the fried crab sticks appetizer on Sunday, June 4th to find that they had been battered, and deep fried in the cellophane PLASTIC covering! I had taken a bite and noticed that I was chewing on something that didn't feel right in my mouth. Upon discovering the crab sticks were cooked in plastic, I returned to First Wok. The manager informed me that they would not refund my purchase, ($6 Bucks & 25 cents) and offered a "new" order of the sticks, to which I declined. (Why would I order another batch of that? huh?)..anyway, they gave me 3 egg rolls in the place. The egg rolls were limp, not crunchy, flavorless and bland ( I can't think when I've ever had a bad egg roll)....anyway I wanted to post this, so Buyers Beware! read more

For the past eight years I've been getting Chinese take-out from this place with no issues. In fact, the food was so good that I raved to everyone about it. Unfortunately, my most recent visit ended differently. I noticed the food seemed greasier than normal, but ate it anyway because I've never had a problem with the place. Long story short, I wound up with food poisoning, and on my birthday, to boot. On top of that, the staff was pretty unpleasant, which I've never experienced from them before. It's run by a husband and wife. The wife normally doesn't speak much, but the husband is always talkative and friendly. This time, the wife shushed me when I walked in the door because she was on the phone (I hadn't said anything...) and then some man who wasn't the husband asked what I'd ordered and grabbed it for me. When I paid and said, "Have a nice day," he just completely ignored me and walked away. Totally disappointing. Worst birthday ever. I won't be returning. read more

I gave one star because I had to choose something. Otherwise, it's no stars at all for me. I placed an order for shrimp egg foo young without bean sprouts and a shrimp egg roll. When I got home I fixed my plate and my food had bean sprouts. Which I don't eat. I then attempted to eat the egg roll it was dry and it only had one shrimp in it. I called the restaurant and advised them if my order. I was transferred by a gentleman to the so called manager by the name of Persia. She stated she would have to speak with the manager about my return. She stated to me to bring the food back. I advised her that I live across town and was not coming back as it was late. She stated in order for me to get my money back I would have to bring the food. She said her manager was out and she would give me a call back in 55 mins. Tried this place for the 1st time today, my brother recommend them. I have to say that this is the best Chinese place in the area. I order ham egg fo young combo with house fried rice, general's chicken combo with pork fried rice for hubby, fried wings and fries for the kids and a order of crab ragoon. Everything was on point! It's hard to find a place that makes good egg fo young sauce ( its all about the sauce!) and theirs was good. The rice was slamming and so was the crab ragoon. The food is waaay better then China Mountain on St clair. Also the kids said the wing and fries were good as well. Oh I almost forgot about the egg rolls. Yum, get you some. I just had the most jarring experience at this place of business (if we can call it that). I ordered something online and called immediately after to revise it. Normal right? The manager who took my order creates two orders instead of revising the first one. I go to pick up, pay, and leave and get chased out by them saying I had two orders when I only ordered one. The woman is screaming at me saying that I wasted their order when it seems it was the order takers incompetence that led to it, not mine. She proceeds to rip my door open, shove the two receipts in my face. Then slam the door back (almost slamming my finger in the door.). First timer at First Wok and we were very pleased! The service was fast and very friendly (The friendliness alone would keep me coming back since that seems like such a rare occurrence these days). But the food was also very good. Served super fresh, steaming, and delicious! It did not taste like frozen, reheated junk, rather fresh and made to order! This is a nice little Chinese take-out place. Although it does offer dine-in service, most of their business comes from take-out. The food is good, and the portions are big. It is not the type of place to drive across town to go to or take a date to, but for a quick cheap meal it is a great place to call in an order to or stop into on the way home. read more
