Hadn't been to HuHot in a while and decided to stop in. We started with crab rangoons and dumplings, then I went with hot and sour soup before heading to the grill. The food itself was OK and the service was a bit lacking after the initial order was taken, and our drinks definitely suffered because of it. The ambiance left a lot to be desired. We were seated near the hostess stand and noticed chipped walls and a mop left out, which made the area feel a bit dingy. It didn't seem to slow the crowd down though, as the place stayed busy. I probably won't go out of my way to come back anytime soon. read more

My sister and my husband and I are in town from out of state due to our father's sudden death :( We met our cousin Evan and his family at this restaurant tonight. This restaurant is a favorite of their family, so we met here. Hu Hot really facilitated a wonderful family reunion under difficult circumstances. I really want to give acknowledgment to our wonderful waitress Ashley. She was amazing and so attentive to our group the entire time we were there. Additionally she was a very effective waitress and very good representative for this restaurant, providing outstanding customer service. The food was wonderful and reasonably priced. it's been a long time since we've had Mongolian barbecue food so it was nice to have something different for a change. The kids in our group both got a piece of cheesecake for dessert that looked very delicious and they sure seem to like it as they ate every bite. The restaurant is well organized as far as the seating arrangements . Everything looks very clean and orderly and the restaurant and all employees were very polite. We really liked the room that they had us sitting in because it was off to the side and we had a group of seven. This gave us some privacy and a chance to catch up after 20+ years of not seeing each other. It's hard to find good Mongolian BBQ where we live, so when I saw this place on vacation, I knew we had to try it! While it's definitely an Americanized version, there are lots of options to choose from and a wide variety of sauces. They also let you eat as much as you want for $15/person. That's definitely worth it - most places I've been to only let you have one serving so you have to pile as much as you can on one plate. Suggested sauce recipes are posted, but I recommend following your gut. The sauce combo I came up with the second time was better than one posted. I had only gone to HuHot once about 15 years ago, and I don't remember being super impressed. I was young and broke and at the time thought it was overpriced. Flash forward to now- my boyfriend had mentioned a couple times that he loved it, so when our New Year's Eve plans were cancelled I suggested we give it a try. We've been to this location a total of two times now and it's been great both times. The employees are friendly and we've had no issues with service. I was just in the mood - the price variations always throw me off but I like to go on the weekend lunch because typically you can get the spicy sausage. First time ever visiting HuHot Mongolian Grill and it was surprisingly good! We are from Seattle where there are lot of Mongolian Grills so we had high expectations. If you have never been to HuHot it is unlimited so go hungry. You pick out your noodles, meat, veggies, and sauces. You also get a side of rice. I will say that the sauces were a bit disappointing to what we are used to in Seattle. Definitely take the recommendation to put at least 4 scoops of sauce on. I ended up putting closer to 6 scoops, but still didn't feel like they were as flavorful as we were used to but I think that also is because in Seattle they put the sauces on after the meal has been cooked. Definitely will visit again when we have a Mongolian craving! read more

I started working here in March 22nd 2023 and I worked hard the staff was very shady wouldn't help anyone out the whole time I work for this company not once did I get a free meal or any breaks the third day I was already working here before I ask where I could maybe get a drink they give me a paper cone cup and fill it with tap water said here you go one of the worst most selfish staff that I have ever worked with and I would highly suggest nobody try to make a career here yet alone a first time job because you'll just end up doing everyone jobs for them because that what kind of people are at huhot council bluffs also the back kitchen conditions and filthy and disgusting and the staff never cleans the dishes right and the walls are covered in gease and ol food and their very unprofessional lazy rude inconsiderate and the Manager is a pervert who's supposed to be a pastor making degrading and sexual comments about female staff on the job. It's very disturbing and made me feel very uncomfortable. Not at all a good place to work for nor would I recommend anyone to work for them. You will have no benefits for your future and if and when they fire you you will have no compisation for your hard work and generosity. read more

I love this hu hot! I live in Omaha but every time I get my car serviced at Edwards in CB I always stop by for a 1 trip to go box. Every time the servers are nice and the food is always right. I get a lot more rice to go than I do sitting down. Satisfied every time! read more

The food is good as always but the cleanliness leaves a bit to be desired. All the ladles were sticky, the floors were sticky, bathroom was not the best, found some of the bowls that weren't clean. My wife and I ate here yesterday, in celebration of an anniversary. For appetizers we had 4 crab rangoon, and then we had their create your meal grill. We love the ingredient selection, but our favorite ingredient are the mussels. We arrived at their 11 am opening time. Even after more people arrived, the line moved fast so there was very little wait time. The food was fresh, and was excellent. Our waitress provided us with superior service. We like this Council Bluffs, IA location, which we feel provides the best atmosphere and service. We will return. read more

This is average Mongolian Grill fare. The price is right ($12.95 for dinner, with a salad or soup), and they don't gouge people for beer ($3.50 for Michelob Ultra), which is why it gets four stars. The stir fry mixings were fresh, and kept cool (nice for food sanitation!), and I got there when it was kind of slow, which meant I waited about 2 minutes for my food to be cooked up. (Don't forget to tip the chefs). I ordered steamed rice, and it came cooked properly. The food I ordered was good as well. I love HuHot, the fresh ingredients, the selection, the setup, everything! I feel like the grill guys deserve more tips than the waitstaff do alot of the time. The grill cooks are always consistent,friendly, entertaining, and fast. The waitstaff service is usually good. The food is something else. You get to experiment with different ingredients, meats,beef,pork,chicken,shrimp,fish,sausage, etc veggies,broccoli,potatoes,onions,peppers,bean sprouts,tofu,baby corn, carrots,spinach,mushrooms,cabbage,etc,etc, various kinds of noodles, loads of different types of sauces, peanuts, sunflower seeds,etc. Lunch is cheaper than dinner because they offer different items on the bar, and because you have the choice of soup or salad with dinner. We have had servers not remember to offer the soup or salad. This is frustrating, especially since you are being charged more for it! They offer a bowl of sticky rice on the side for the table if you want one, and have several dessert options to choose from as well, assuming that you have any room left after stuffing yourself! read more

Really nice & clean with wonderful attentive staff I like the concept of choosing your own ingredients & then handing them over to the friendly chatty chefs,who quickly cook on this big round stone looking table. Brings a very exciting dimension to a regular lunch stop. That said, it didn't get 5 stars because their strength may also be their weakness. Too many choices in sauces & food combinations. I know I know choice is a good thing, however it would mean you would have to come here a hundred times & try hundreds of different combos before you get your perfect plate. I don't think I have the endurance for that much commitment. If that is indeed their weakness than maybe that might actually be a brilliant business plan! Who knows? read more

I could eat Hu Hot every day of my life. May not be good for sodium levels but that's just my preference not a reflection on their options. If you have never been, this is an experience you need to try. Take a bowl (or two) fill it with a variety of meats then your choose of noodles, then with the vegetables (and pineapple), lastly typed with sauces so that it can fry. Take it to the chef and they'll fry it up right in front of you! Go back for another plate and if you're really ambitious a third one- though I'll warn you, you might regret it. Having been here twice, I can now definitely say that I'm a fan of HuHot. There are tons of options available for your dishes, and it's so cool to watch them cook your food. I was still starving when I went up for my second plate, and when I handed my bowls to the cook, he nicely asked how my first plate was. Delicious. Excited to see a HuHot while on the road. Stopped to get one last pad thai before heading home to a state without HuHot. The restaurant appeared clean and nicely designed. Went for our first pass and realized they don't have any recipes out. Strike one, but we have the app, so it's all good. The black Thai peanut sauce in the front of the bar looked brown from surrounding sauces dripping into it. No problem, the back was more normal colored. Bad design with the sauces packed in so close, but not a strike. Ask the attendant where the garlic broth is because I'm not seeing it in its usual spot by the ginger broth. She repeatedly pointed to the garlic oil, so I decided to make do without. Strike two, as this is a component of my favorite HuHot recipe. Then we see the same attendant take a pitcher of water and top off the different sauces with it. Strike three! (and 4) I waffled a bit as this was my last chance for HuHot for a year, but my mind was boggled. I couldn't justify staying. Absolutely no quality control or consistency if you're just dumping water into the sauce instead of using proper measurements. And if you're going to do that anyway, at least do it in back, not right in front of the customers. Contemplated doing three stars to be fair as I hadn't tried the food and the staff seemed nice and the decor was pleasing, but that was a big strike. If i'm going to pay $10-15 for food, I don't want to pay for stuff watered down to save money. read more

Absolutely fabulous food. All of their sauces are gluten free. They clean off the grill for allergies and use separate utensils and plates. The food selection is phenomenal. So happy we stopped here. The service was amazing. We had spent the day at the Children's Museum and the Zoo in Omaha Nebraska and were so parched. Our server kept our drinks filled the entire meal. Excellent restaurant. I've been to HuHot a couple of times, but this was my first time to this one. I was quite impressed with the General Manager above all else. He was awesome! We first saw him when he asked us how our food was and thanked us for coming. We then saw him at the grill, taking food, scraping the grill, greeting customers, and asking how each person was when he took their food. He helped facilitate and expedite the work of the guys at the grill with cutting the wait time down quite a bit. Once there were very few people waiting with food he left to help out elsewhere in the restaurant. Ashley, our waitress was also great. She was very attentive to each one of her customers that ensured everyone was well taken care of. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. read more

I have a love hate relationship with HuHot. I always eat more than I should and leave the place feeing worse than when I got here. The food is always good and when it isn't it's because I picked the wrong ingredients. Right after I sat down with my food, the place was attacked by a zombie hoard that smashed through the front door. That's when the legendary HuHot customer service came into play. Our waitress, Christina, who is 9 months pregnant, grabbed an MP5 off a rack behind the hostess both and started spraying. She smoked seven zombies before I had taken my first bite of Kahn's Revenge.
