Pretty good, typical Chinese fare. I ordered the sesame chicken combo. The rice is very well seasoned...you can taste the wok! Delicious. But the chicken was a little over breaded and they use dark meat chicken. Good spicy brown sauce. Egg roll was just ok, pretty standard. The menu is small, but there's a few chicken, seafood, and beef dishes. They've built this temporary interior area with plexiglass and a wood frame, presumably for the pandemic. It makes the take out and waiting area very small. Then there's a narrow door that opens up and you can come into the dining room to eat your food if you're dining in. The setup is just a little odd. Glad we tried somewhere new, but I wasn't blown away. read more

Call ahead, online or at the window orders are excepted. Easy parking and pick up area although a little tight inside when it gets crowded. Extensive online menu offers a variety of Chinese standards from various regions. They will also modify menu options to align with dietary needs. My friend & I decided to stop here for supper. The sign said the dining hall was open, but when we walked in the side door, it looked like the place was under construction - a crude 2x4 with plastic enclosure confined customers to a 6'x8' area. We asked if they were open for dine-in. Rather than say "yes" a gentleman simply opened the crude door and waited for us to walk through. No greeting, no welcome, no smile. Nothing. When no one came to our table, we walked up to the counter to order. The same rude gentleman who begrudgingly opened the door for us continued to be just as rude. He refused to give me a glass of water with my meal, but said I had to buy a $2 bottle of water out of the refrigerator. The meal was okay. Not bad, but certainly nothing special. Nobody came to ask how it was. They acted like we arrived unannounced and uninvited to a private family dinner. The bottom line is that the guy up front was EXTREMELY rude. Even if the food was awesome I would likely not go back. But with extraordinarily rude service, and mediocre food, this is a "never again" restaurant. First and foremost I'd like to comment on the customer service. I know the area has a lot of panhandlers and people with mental health issues and those employed might tend to loose a lot of patience dealing with people. Outside of this, the employees need to find a better way to deal with whatever problems they are having and stop treating every customer that patronizes the business with bias and rudeness. Your customers are the ones that determine your success as restaurant owners. Try and be more polite. I ordered the broccoli chicken, crab Rangoon, and shrimp toast. Asked for sweet and sour sauce. Was given two which I thought was not enough for 6 crab ragoon and 4 shrimp toast..but ok?? Then when using the sweet and sour sauce, it was so watered down that it did not cling to the food. Which is probably the reason the worker felt two was enough. So thin, will go a long way without flavor. What a turn off. I know times may be hard, but try not to water it down so much to make it stretch. People are paying to enjoy the food that you have prepared. Then while eating the shrimp toast, it lacked consistency...no shrimp. So it tasted like flavored bread. Once again, dont overdue trying to stretch products. It wont benefit you. It will only make your customers mad and not want to patronize your business. Try and even out the portions. Broccoli is just as expensive as chicken. By you adding more broccoli, it's not saving you any money there. Its just gonna upset your customers and because there weren't even portions, most people will end up throwing the excess broccoli away. Try serving less rice. The crab Rangoon was on point. Once in a while, I stopped by China Taste. This location is new since the old location is near Creighton. The food quality is pretty consistent, from the dinner option to buffet option. The flavor is not much different with other Chinese restaurant. Lunch special is 6.95 with lots of choices: beef broccoli, general tso chicken, egg drop, egg fo young, some other items. No one can't beat the price at this place I think. I feel that the buffet is always greasier than if you order items off the menu. The inside is a little bit clean, but the floor is greasy. There is no place to put your dishes after you are done, so you just leave them on the table. This results on table filled with trash and employees don't clean them that often. read more

China Taste has a full menu, but the bargain is the Express Buffet which runs you $6.95 during lunch. Very good deal. Drink is extra. Order/pay at the counter and there is plenty of seating. Lunch is bustling. The Buffet has approximately 20 items to choose from. This includes two (2) choices of soup, standard egg rolls, crab rangoons, steamed/fried rice, lo mein, and a decent selection of entrees such as General Tso's Chicken, Beef with Broccoli, Pork with Garlic Sauce, Pepper Chicken, etc. Made several trips through the buffet and everything I got had good taste. So I went into this place seeing that it had good reviews. I ask what the lo mein had in it and he said chicken shrimp and beef. I walk back to hotel in 90 degree heat and I take a bite in the beef and guess what... it's pork. After calling them and asking why they put pork,he said they add beef for one dollar. He never mentioned the word pork when I ordered! I was really hungry and short on cash so I asked them if they can make me one without pork. They were going to charge me another $13!! I've driven by this place for a while now, but tried it for the first time today. I ordered online for a lunch pickup and it was ready immediately ... like within minutes. For $5.85, I ordered the "small" chicken and veggies and it was the perfect size... it actually was bigger than I expected. It came with a side of white rice (and a fortune cookie), and the meat/veggies and rice both came in those classic square Chinese takeout boxes that I love so much. We live nearby and they are a wonderful asset to have when I just dont feel like cooking or we have a late night hankering for sweet and sour soup. (good sign) I got the lunch buffet and friend ordered the shrimp egg foo young. I was very pleased with the buffet. All the items were fresh, warm, and really good quality. The egg foo young on the buffet was one of the better I have had in Omaha. Lots of greens mixed in and the brown gravy had a really good saltyness to it that I enjoyed. China Taste does not taste like it use to. My husband went to get shrimp fried rice with extra shrimp. Shrimp egg foo yong with extra shrimp, and shrimp egg rolls. The shrimp fried rice was ok but the egg rolls had NO shrimp and the egg foo yong with extra shrimp had little to no shrimp in them but a whole lot of onions. Of course he was charged for the extra shrimp in both. The food don't even taste the same, China Taste use to be my favorite restaurant but I guess I will have to look around for another Chinese restaurant. read more

I work just down the street from China Taste and have been many times over the past year or so but haven't reviewed it for some reason. So, here we go. I've only had the lunch buffet, so this review is of that. First off, the value for the dollar is as good as it gets. A buffet and water, if you pay cash, is 7 bucks as of the writing of this review. Great deal. The buffet is what you expect from any Chinese buffet you might have visited before. They typically keep the food hot and fresh and it's good. You've got several chicken and beef dishes, rice, lo mein, and two soups from which to choose. They have fried donuts for dessert, so what more can one want? The place doesn't look big from the road but there is typically plenty of seating. The folks that run it aren't going to knock you out with their charm but they are very nice and get you in, paid, and eating in no time. If you are looking for an inexpensive, satisfying, and quick lunch north of downtown, this is your spot. I don't eat in the quantities I used to, despite my robust waist line, but I do enjoy the variety of a buffet from time to time. If you do as well, give this place a try. read more

We use to be loyal to Red Dragon but they don't seem to be open or their phone number doesn't work because they never answer. So, we tried this place out and we love it! Their dining area is new, up to date, and clean but we usually just get to-go. Their food is always ready in a very fast manner while still maintaining its fresh quality. We've tried a few different things and we've found that the Sesame chicken and Crab Rangoon are consistently delicious. The staff is rude and was willing to take back OPENED food from a wrong order during COVID-19. This is a health hazard and the food did not taste like anything at all. Newly relocated to 17th/Cuming and recently opened it still feels the same. they are ready to seat you ar take your order right when you enter. Even though they are a Chinese restaurant, they have a pretty limited vegetarian section. One soup and about 4-5 items for me to choose from. I know they can sub bean curd (tofu), but there is a language barrier that I have a problem overcoming. foodwise, they are just fine for what they are and due to the new spot, they are closer and I should be coming in more often. China Taste is good Chinese food combined with some petty annoyances that keep it from being a truly great place to get Chinese food. The food is quite good and the lunch specials are generally less than $5. I particularly like their serving sizes of hot n' sour soup. The small is actually a vat, and the large is a double vat. But no Chinese restaurant is perfect. If you want to use a debit or credit card to pay for your food, they charge you 50 cents per transaction. Now I realize that most restaurants build this fee into their food prices, and China Taste does have an ATM (with it's own $2 charge, since no one banks at Jerry's Guns and Pawn). Nonetheless, it's annoying. Even more annoying is that they don't have fountain drinks, only bottles of pop or water for $1.50. So they you are with your extra salty Chinese food and only 20 ounces of liquid (No refills). It's like a bad game show. read more
