Not the best chinese joint in town, but a-okay in my book. This place has been in this strip mall for quite a long time, and for the most part, their food is good. The only thing I avoid on their menu is the fried rice. Not that it tastes bad, but it has this yellow-ish, doesn't look like "traditional" fried rice consistency. I was not disappointed - the Kung Pao Chicken was made just as I requested (without peanuts, extra spicy). The right balance between vegetables, chicken, and sauce. China taste lunch buffet is the best for the price. For under $7 you get a plethora of food and definitely get your money's worth. Bring cash and you save an extra 50 cents. Food is always hot. I've only done take out here. It's pretty close to my job, so I tried it out. I had veggie fried rice on my most recent trip. Nothing fancy about this place. It's pretty simple inside. Not a date place, by any means. But, the service was fast and the guy at the counter (youngish looking guy) was really nice to me and even joked around with me a bit. If you're looking for a quick, decent Chinese food place and you're near the Creighton campus, this works pretty well. read more

The sesame chicken seemed like it was soggy, the egg roll tasted weird, the crab Rangoon was legit, and the person checking us out was not really friendly. It's near my place so I guess that's the redeeming factor. I'll be going here for my crab Rangoon fix in the future but that's about it. read more

This place is better then most I have tried in this town. The chicken cashew is dead on. Which is rare to find in this city I was pleasantly surprised. The lo mein could use some work it was like eh... in the flavor department. The dumplings are homemade and actually have flavor not just boring or the store bought pot stickers. When i crave chicken cashew I know where I'm getting take out from now on when I'm in town. Found this nice gem in downtown. The kung pao chicken is delicious, and some of the best I've had in Omaha. A very fresh and clean family owned restaurant. Prices are very reasonable. Ordered delivery. I got Kung pao chicken from lunch menu. There take on this recipe is completely different from what I know to be Kung pao chicken. Just had lunch here today. Was very satisfied with the buffet that now costs $7.50. My friend and I were impressed with the value for the price. I especially liked the General Tso's Chicken, and we both enjoyed our egg roll. There were many people either eating in or taking out as we placed our order. Sooooo about a couple of weeks ago my boyfriend and I decided to order China Taste. He goes in to pay and pick up the food as I sit and wait in the car I can see the back door to the kitchen is wide open. For 1 they had a huge bowl of what it looked like was rice (which I'm sure they were serving that cause I seen them scoop rice out each time) just sitting right next to the wide open door. Clearly bugs can get in there. Second I watched them bring out a dead rat from a room and placed it on the counter. So I don't know if they planned on using that to cook or what but I'm wondering why they have dead rats just sitting on counters. I ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice it was pretty good. But I don't be ordering anything that may be cooked with rats. read more

This is the best Chinese lunch buffet this side of the Mississippi. The fried chicken wings could sustain a business of their own. They even have gravy available if thats you're into. Me? With it being right across the street from Creighton, it's an awesome alternative compared to what they serve on campus! You get a good amount of food (I usually get Kung Pao chicken or Brocolli Beef), maybe a bit too much for lunch honestly, but it makes for great left overs. Yesterday (12/4/18) we decided to have the lunch buffet at China Taste. As I went to put white rice on my plate I noticed a long strand of black hair in the rice and on the serving spoon. I brought this to management attention hoping they would change out the rice and clean the serving spoon. I listened as the elderly Asian woman yell something in chinese to the others in the back. She then proceeded to head back toward the kitchen area. I saw another consumer getting ready to get some white rice, I rushed over to tell him about the hair and he replied "yes I saw that and decided against it" we both chuckled at his comment. I went and sat at the table to wait and that's when I observed the same elderly lady with a silver pot. She put more white rice on top of the contaminated rice and serving spoon. She did not even bother to change the spoon. I asked to speak to someone else to no avail and saw them continue to take money from people and allow them to eat contaminated food. Needless to say I loss my appetite and I refuse to eat there again!! read more

I had their Singapore chow mei fun and it was good at first but made me drink more than 2 bottles of water and still feel thirsty. It must've been laced with salt or even MSG. Visiting from out of town I found China Taste on the hotel's delivery list and I'm impressed. On the phone they said 20 minutes it arrived in 10, fresh and steaming. The crab rangoons were crispy on the outside and sweet and creamy on the inside, the vegetable lo mein was excellent - light not greasy at all, and the beef and broccoli was everything you can expect in this classic. Portion sizes were not overwhelming, everything was fairly priced and the delivery person was nice and respectful. If I was a local I'd get take out from here all the time! read more

Well I read all the other reviews some right on some not so much. If you like cheap buffets then yes it will fill you up. Went there yesterday for the buffet, selection was ok could be better. No beef to be found, Vegetable lo mien not a fan, So for the buffet I wont be going back any time soon, As for the take out or regular menu the food is very good I love the Beef lo mien, and the beef broccoli. I go there for take out 2 time s a week. I did compare China taste with China buffet on Broadway in Council bluff, The food there is really good and twice the selection with Mongolian bar. Also at China taste they do not clear your plates of bring your drinks they are self serve. read more

This is the second time I visited this restaurant and this will be the last. We ordered to go, the person taking the order was very short with me. Apparently I should have a menu in front of me or have it memorized. First I was told there was no Sweet and Sour Shrimp combo, however when I got there it is clearly listed on the menu. We were told 10-15 minutes for the order. We walked in 15 minutes later and still had to wait for our food. I have had Sweet and Sour Shrimp numerous times but never like this. It was large round battered pieces of shrimp fried and tossed into a tin. Then I was given a tub of red gooey syrup and a box of white rice, that was it. Where are the peppers, onions and pineapple? Is this a meal or an appetizer you might ask? The last time I was there I ordered the sesame chicken and it was dry and chewy. Clearly it had been dropped into the fryer 2 or 3 times and over cooked. Did I mention the table 10 feet from the checkout are covered in someone's half eaten food that was all over the table? Clearly it was from an employee or employee's child since this was during the dinner hour and the buffet is not open, gross. Sorry, I won't go back. read more
