Pros: Wheelchair accessible, Yummy authentic cuisine and friendly staff that goes above and beyond. Cons: Hard to find parking when a show is happening at the Orpheum. Closed on Sundays. Everything is delicious. And so fast considering most are going to the orpheum. Not sure if you need reservations.

A convenient downtown location. Passed by several times and never went in. Kung Pao chicken and hot and sour soup delicious. A nice option for an American/Chinese palate. I would love to see Cantonese traditional noodle dishes ala King Fong style. Wonderful and courteous service. read more

I don't typically write negative reviews but this was...not good! The combination lo mein was colorless and bland. Mushrooms seem to be from a can. The wonton soup came with a broken lid, mostly chicken broth with empty wontons and some cut up shrimp, carrots, and pea pods. Not terrible but bland. Dragon and Phoenix is usually a favorite of mine, however it is spicy and flavorless at the same time! Like someone just sprinkled something like cayenne pepper on it instead of developing flavor with chilies and other ingredients. All in all, this food feels thrown together more than cooked with love and attention to detail. Very disappointing. read more

It's unfortunate that this downtown restaurant's food is marginal. Service was good and our take out was ready quickly. It's a great location that has a nice dining area - unfortunately not enough people frequent it. I wanted to like it, but my chicken was bland and my broccoli was over cooked. Sesame tofu was ok - but it's left me looking for something better read more

It was possibly the worst Asian food I have ever eaten in omaha . The service was beyond pathetic and I really feel like it wasn't our servers fault . Called days in advance to reserve for a party of 20-25 and they acted like it was no big deal . The poor server was not very informed what gluten free means . Again not her fault . She seemed like she genuinely wanted to be helpful but also a bit of a language barrier . It says it serves alcohol on the web/online but absolutely no alcohol on the premises. Food was served by the one server 30 minutes from the first plate to the last . I really want downtown Omaha to thrive but this was extraordinarily awful ... read more

A friend and I stopped in on a whim the other night and I don't really have anything good or bad to say. Everything was... decent... from the service, to the quality and taste of the food, to the portion sizes for the price. I ordered the Spring Rolls and Amazing Chicken (extra spicy). I would not order the Spring Rolls again, not because they were bad per se, but simply because I've had better elsewhere. The Amazing Chicken was good, but some of the chicken looked a little wonky, and "extra spicy" barely even registered on my spice radar. There is definitely better Chinese food in the area but if you're in a pinch you may as well give it go! read more

My partner and I were strolling downtown, I told my partner that we should give this place a try. My partner was hesitant because the place is empty. The moment we got inside, the Asian - Chinese owner/staff at the front desk was only acknowledging my partner, who is a caucasian, he ignored me and won't even look at me while I am talking to him. I wonder if he reacted that way because I am an Asian and thinks that I cannot pay on my own. The food is ok, but we don't plan of going back, will share my experience everywhere! I regret going there! read more

Under new ownership and place has gone extremely DOWNHILL since. Used to come here as a kid with my family nothing like before, except the deteriorating atmosphere. Food was very chewy and crab Rangoons extremely greasy and made my stomach ache. Service was fine only plus, despite them being in sweat pants and shorts. Ceiling was dripping mold and water had buckets in the dining room to catch the contaminated water. Homeless people coming in and eating off leftover food from tables. Unfortunately would not go here try somewhere else. read more

While in downtown Omaha, stumbled across Panda House Chinese Restaurant and decided to give it a try. So the two of us agreed to order different food and eat it family style. We did the Veggie Spring Roll, which was fried perfectly, an outside crispiness with a tasty vegetable filling. We then moved onto Mongolian Lamb, General's Chicken, Pork Fried Rice and Vegetable Lo Mein. The vegetables in all these dishes were cut perfectly and had a nice crisp and seasoning to them. The Lamb was absolutely the best dish! The chicken dish had the right amount of spice and heat. And the Rice and Lo Mein were done correctly. Locals give this place a try because for me it's a bookmarked restaurant if I'm ever back in Omaha! read more

I don't opt for Chinese food very often, but when it sounds good I'll order from Panda House since it is super close to my apartment. My only experience is ordering over the phone and picking it up for takeout. The staff is friendly and the menu is extensive. In my opinion, not everything on the menu sounds trustworthy to order and looking at some reviews, I wouldn't order specific items. But my go-to, sesame chicken and fried rice, is always tasty. Pricing is on par with other Chinese takeout restaurants. Overall, a good option for takeout downtown. read more

One of the cleanest and most delicious chinese food restaurants in Downtown Omaha. If you want a change from boring chain restaurants then EAT HERE. I highly recommend the general chicken. I have never experienced a more hospitable place to eat especially post Covid-19. Any reviews under 4 or 5 stars are absolutely false. I hope more people are able to enjoy this truly hidden treasure of Downtown Omaha as I have with my family. Nothing but smiles and a cheap bill. I usually don't write reviews but hard work and kindness truly deserves appreciation. Thank you! *Side note* I forgot to take a picture because I was so entranced by such a pleasant dining experience with employees who actually care about their customers and workplace. **Double Side Note** I would not trust negative reviews from recent months as many other popular restaurants in the Omaha area during Covid - 19 have shown me abismal service and food compared to here. And NO I'm not affiliated or pushed to post this review. I honestly just care about my money and others going to those who truly deserve it. read more

Panda House is no longer under the previous ownership and it shows. we placed an online order on February 3 at 530pm. the confirmation indicated it would be delivered by 545pm. We knew this was wrong by past experience. At 630pm, still no food so I called. I was told the food was out for delivery. We live 10min away. at 700pm we tried calling and got no answer. We tried five times, never got an answer. At 710pm the food arrived. The egg and spring rolls were soggy, the rice undercooked and the Generals chicken so spicy it was not edible. I ordered extra vegetables and never received them. We never had this issue under the former ownership. We won't be ordering again. read more

When I walked in, I was nervous because there was a giant hole in the ceiling with buckets everywhere, but water damage can happen anywhere. Then I noticed how dirty the floors and even the walls were. Still decided to give it a chance since I was already there. I ordered a Diet Coke and the chicken and broccoli with fried rice. The mix in the Diet Coke was off and it was flat but no big deal. Then my meal came... the chicken was pale white and smelled weird. I tried a few bites and it was chewy and slimy. I tried the rice and it was dry and bland. I barely ate any of the chicken because I was afraid it might make me sick. The waitress came by and asked if everything was ok and I said the food was really bad so I'd just take the check. She didn't seem to care and didn't ask why or offer any kind of remedy. So I paid and left, knowing I'd never go back. And then later that night my fears about the chicken were confirmed when I got really sick. All in all, some of the worst food I've ever had anywhere. read more

Second time I order from Panda House. First time delivery to Hotel Room. It was very good. Wondered about the Reviews. But, figured what the heck. Miserable Rain, sleet weather. Wanted hot Soup. After hearing many good things about Panda House from Jason G, I decided to give them another shot. Well, this time around I managed to avoid ordering any metallic-tasting soup, which was nice (and the main reason my previous meal was, eh, not so good). Instead, my wonton soup was, you know, fine. The egg rolls were, you know, pretty good. Jason recommended the Kung Pao chicken sans mushroom for an entree. Sounds good to me. I don't hate shrooms, so I went ahead and ordered the whole meal. I have to say Jason was right -- the sweet and slightly spicy chicken was buried in shrooms, like there were more shrooms than chicken. Still, Panda House is an all-around average Chinese joint in the heart of an interesting downtown neighborhood. Which reminds me, I haven't been to King Fong in like 15 years. I need to get there and compare the two, as they are neighbors. And I still have a hard time choosing Panda House when stellar eateries like Culprit Cafe, Block 16 and Kitchen Table are so, so close by (and only a little bit more expensive). And before I forget: There are a variety of fancy, mostly tropical cocktails on the Panda House menu. Yet when you look at the dusty, untouched-for-a-decade liquor bottles behind the cash register, you wonder what exactly you'd get if you ordered one (e.g. -- a half empty bottle of Captain Morgan was a weird yellowish color, instead of the usual oak-y brown of spiced rum). God only knows. read more

This is some of the WORST food I've ever had. I don't really leave bad reviews, but wow, I had to spit it out. Once I saw the vegetables (clearly from a frozen bag), I knew it was going to be bad. Where do I begin? TL;DR - Waitress doesn't know how to waitress, food is bland and undercooked. 2/5, would only recommend if starving and other options are closed. Facility: This split level restaurant is very clean, and well kept - the ONLY reason this review has two stars. The owners obviously take pride in appearance; beautiful art is on the walls. Unfortunately the owners also probably don't have a lot of money, because it's hard to ignore the pink chairs, old wallpaper, and water-logged ceiling tiles. Front desk: Very nice people. Professional demeanor and appearance. Friendly. Waitress (10/28/2015): Professional appearance, however, probably eager to go home????? We came in at 7:30pm and the place doesn't close until 9:30 - she immediately asked if we were ready upon seating us; we weren't. Less than a minute passed, she asked again. We said no, however we ordered tea. Our tea came out immediately along with another request for our order. "No, please give us a few minutes". 30 seconds later she was back and asked for our order. We end up ordering appetizers, hoping it would appease her obvious hunger for taking our order. It was not enough. After receiving burnt-on-one-side-barely-cooked-on-the-other Fried Dumplings and probably-packaged Wonton Soup, she again asked for our order. Not wanting to anger the beast any further, we hastily made our decisions- Pork Sweet and Sour, Cashew Chicken, and a house special! Shrimp and Pork, Hunan Style! Food: Please refer to the pictures for this horrific recount. I had the misfortune of ordering the Pork Sweet and Sour. Holy bland, Batman! The pork was bland, black (yes, the meat was a sickly black/brown), and fried in some kind of oil, probably vegetable. The peppers, onions, and carrots were nicely sliced, however undercooked. The sauce was dreadful, and can be compared to the taste you get when you get to the rind of a watermelon slice. You know, the part where you've run into the bland, tasteless, disappointing area of the watermelon slice? The part that's inedible? It was like that, but lukewarm. The house special shrimp/pork combo was separated by orange slices; the pork only tasted like mushrooms, and the shrimp tasted like it was covered in a puréed Whopper™. I wish this place were better, but if you're starving, I'd recommend it. read more

I ordered the chicken lo mein. There is not much flavor and the noodles appear to be fettuccine noodles and not the typical, lo mein noodles one would expect. The fried rice that came with it was bland and white. I called the restaurant to complain about the lo mein and rice, and it was just too bad. He indicated that the fried rice that came with the meal was white rice with a little bit of soy sauce, but that if I wanted fried rice, I could have ordered it. He indicated that they have two different fried rices. The fried rice one would expect to get when they think of fried rice and the fried rice that comes with the meal - plain white rice with a drizzle of soy sauce. The egg rolls were just average eggs rolls one would expect. The meal was delivered and was cold. The picture has my white (fried) rice mixed into it.. read more

Panda House - Bad lo mein, would not recommend. - Chinese Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

I will never eat here ever again. Please do not waste your money here. The gentleman, Dan at Panda House first completely denied that we even ordered from here and blamed everything on DoorDash upon my delivery. Then they miraculously found my order and asked what was wrong with it: I ordered Shrimp Lo Mein (I am a Pescatarian - fish meat only)) and there was large chunks of chicken in my meal. When I asked the lady working there on 6/5 at 9:15 PM why there was chicken in my meal she stated that it happens when their cook makes the meal. As if its normal practice to throw random meats in your meal. I offered to send them a picture and they declined. The crab rangoon was extra dark and super crispy and hard. They said that they personally packaged the rangoon and it looked "golden" when it left the restaurant, thus blaming the delivery man for making the rangoon super hard and extra brown after leaving the restaurant. Again denied taking responsibility. When I received the meal, there was juice everywhere! All over my co-workers orders, at the bottom of the bag, and then essentially splashed on my white shirt. I can understand that it may have been DoorDash's fault but the restaurant took no responsibility with yet at this point still no apology. Long story short, I will never order from here ever again. I suggest if they cannot conduct business/customers properly - then get out! I have been in customer service my entire working life and this is NO WAY to treat your customers. I'm usually pretty forgiving when it comes to wrong food orders because I have been in the food industry before, but this was new to me. The merchant completely denied any wrong doing and blamed everything on DoorDash. That's rich. read more

I have recently started frequenting Panda House as it is the only Chinese restaurant in walking distance from my job. Lunch is always relatively busy, but have never had an issue getting a table. My go-to meal is chicken chow mein made with brown sauce and steamed rice, egg drop soup, and crab rangoon. The chicken chow mein is a little overwhelmed with vegetables and a few more pieces of chicken wouldn't hurt, but for a lunch plate, the portion size isn't too bad. I prefer the brown sauce instead of white sauce as I find white sauce is normally bland. The brown sauce is super tasty, being a nice combo of salty and sweet (but nothing too salty). Plus, their chow mein noodles, which are pretty much fried crab rangoon skin, is good to dip in the sauce! Egg drop soup is really eggy, which I love, and their crab rangoons are delicious and aren't just fried puffs with a dab of cream cheese. Panda House is everything I could ever want from an Americanized Chinese restaurant - cheap prices, huge menu, fast, and edible. There seems to be one waitress during lunch, but she's friendly and service is quick! You can easily be in and out in less than 45 minutes, so definitely a good place for lunch. I've ordered delivery from them and would recommend ordering 30-45 minutes before as delivery times can get lengthy, but is always on time. read more

People who visit Omaha or are not familiar with the layout of the downtown area often end up on 16th Street with the false belief that it is somehow the epicenter of downtown, when in reality most of what's great in downtown is about 5-6 blocks east. There are several restaurants that benefit from this "downtown decoy", and Panda House is certainly one of them. There are much better restaurants, even superior Chinese restaurants, within what most people with two legs consider walking distance. Panda House is pretty average, even by Chinese restaurant standards. I like the hot and sour soup, as well as the orange beef. The primary advantage the Panda House has over restaurants in the immediate 16th Street vicinity is that they are actually open for dinner. If you venture further downtown only a few blocks, there are a number of restaurants that are better in terms of quality and price, but if you're just looking for average Chinese food and don't want to wander around, Panda House will do. If you have any mobility whatsoever, I would recommend you take advantage of that fact and head east, where the restaurants are much better. read more

Sometimes I happen to get a craving for Chinese food. Usually it is going to be some fried Tofu and veggies. Spicy including Fried rice and spring rolls. Tonight was no different and I checked who delivered in my area (I was at work) and of the 2 choices, Panda House was the only one who had any Tofu. I picked Ma Po Tofu, Sechzuan style, with fried rice. Apparently the rice is an add on as I was charged almost $5 more than the menu price. I got (40 minutes later) a sloppy container of spilled sauce and what was warm, raw soft tofu. The spice was about a 3 on the list that many others use. As you may know, raw tofu is not good not palatable. I scarfed what I could and have had a sore stomach since then. Once I got home I noticed that Wifle must have had the same craving as there was a togo box in the fridge. I opened it and well, shit. Perfect fried Tofu and veggies. Since it did not have crispy mock duck in it I have excluded Crystal Jade. I love 3 Happiness. Even cold and old it is much better than what I had tonight. All in all. Make the drive to 3 happiness. Even the freebies that we get at the desk don't do this any service. No more. I cannot fathom how these guys would get 5 stars. Even now I am not drunk enough to dole that rating. read more

Theres a difference between "soft" noodles and the trash this shit hole served me. Over cooked Spaghetti noodles (so overcooked they rip when you try to pick them up) aren't Lo-mein. WTH. Fried rice is supposed to be fried all the way through, mine had a nice pure white center (I don't know how they fucked that up) Egg roll was tasty. Good job, 1/3= 33%. I've gotten to go orders from here a couple of times. The food is bland at best and completely lack luster. The chicken lo mein I got was very greasy, tasted like it had absolutely no seasoning, the veggies didn't taste cooked and personally I questioned if the meat was cook enough. My husband ate it just so it didn't go to waste. Even then he had to pour soy sauce on it so it had at least a little flavor. The other time I decided to give them another try; every restaurant has their off days. Well I guess this is normal for them. Their chicken fried rice is just as gross or worse than their lo mein. Stale tasting rice, no flavor, just blah. Also, I've never experienced table service here, but the guy who takes your to-go orders needs a lesson in basic manners and he has an attitude problem. He seemed angry that I wanted to order food. Strange concept, but try to appreciate your customers! With so many good places in the downtown area, these guys need to step up their game. I honestly don't know how they stay in business. read more

A good, solid Americanized Chinese place. A little bland, but definitely edible (and definitely better than King Fong, which is a story for another day). Affordable, too! The wonton soup broth is literally... chicken broth. No depth of flavor to it. The wonton is mostly noodle, almost no filling. But the egg roll was spot-on! Husband's orange chicken was also great... I ordered the Amazing Shrimp, which turned out to be decent, but not "amazing". The service was really wonderful, and it's a beautiful location. So many windows, so much natural light! And awesome for people-watching during lunch hour, too. I like the experience of getting to watch the world go by while I eat, so I would come back here. read more
