Fresh seafood?? Local's hotspot? Whoever thinks this seafood is "fresh" is delusional. Yelp, you REALLY let me down with this one. I got the $40 seafood platter thing and starting from the oyster to the abalone, everything tasted old and rubbery. The oyster was repulsive and gave my girlfriend instant gag reflexes and stomach pains; she had to run to the bathroom which she said was SO DISGUSTING that we had to leave immediately. A restaurant that serves old seafood should at least have a clean bathroom where you can throw up, am i right? First time here over the weekend. A family owned and operated Mexican restaurant in Indio or Centro Indio. They have a lot of dishes on the menu and many of them are seafood to which what drew us into visit here. This server we had was very attentive to our needs with a smile as she took and serve our orders. The food here is very tasty and quite authentic. My wife had cockteles and i had the octopus grilled with garlic with rice and beans. SWEET!! The place is well-kept and very clean. Oh my gosh, the ceviche is so tasty here. It was definitely worth the drive to Indio We went here to try the ceviche based on a friend's recommendation. The menu was extensive. We tried both the shrimp ceviche and fish ceviche. The ceviche was so fresh and tasty. It had plenty of lime. The portions were plentiful. The ceviche was served with crisp tostadas. Visiting California and stumbled across this place on Yelp. Small little joint that's busy, food was below sub par. Our 3 plates took 45 minutes, the 3 of us got combination plates and barely touched them.. not impressed with the flavor of the red sauce on their enchiladas, and they put a lot of it. My wife's potato's were hard on her breakfast plate. Locals definitely seem to love this place, us 3 were not fans. I had the opportunity to sample a great serving of their Menudo ! I live in central east coast of Florida, and travel occasionally to the beautiful Coachella Valley. One of the many things that attracts me there is the excellent Mexican food restaurants . I am a huge fan of the Mexican tripe soup. I have learned over the years, that there are many variations to the recipe. Some are average, however there are some that are excellent. After a review on Yelp, I selected Huertas Restaurant . I ordered a take out, as time was limited. After a short wait, my order was ready. The service was excellent, and the restaurant was very attractive . The menu was extensive, and will be back for a sit down dinner . The menudo was 5 star !!! Perfect flavor, generous portion, and all the side ingredients were there . Atmosphere is nice and authentic. The food is your normal Mexican restaurant style food. I ordered breaded shrimp, and was disappointed. The shrimp were small, and not that filling for the price we paid. My kids got the basic taquitos, quesadilla, etc.. and were happy were happy. My husband and I ordered a shrimp ceviche as an appetizer , which never got to us. When we brought it to their attention, the staff seemed as if they didn't believe us, which was another disappointment. We stopped here after being disappointed at Fantasy Springs. The Casino buffet was closed and no Mexican food there for Cinco de Mayo. The slot machines gobbled up our small winnings and what we bet. On the way back home we stopped at Huerta's Mexican & Seafood and I ordered Shrimp Enchiladas Verdes it was loaded with shrimp but their Verdes sauce was fantastic really flavorful and the best I have ever tasted. Asked the waitress if she could change the channel on the TV to watch our favorite football team and she said that only the manager could do that and he had left for the night... Then we waited for 15 minutes for her to return and she finally brought some chips... We then ordered a margarita which arrived another 20 minutes later...The chips were stale and the salsa was hot and runny... she reappeared after another 15 minutes and we ordered our food and by then we had been there for 45 minutes... We asked for more chips and she gave us a funny look and said OK... The second basket of chips arrives 10 minutes later...we asked her how things were going and she rudely stated that there were only two waitresses there and we should not expect any faster service...the food finally arrived after being seated for an hour... This is a belated review for a Saturday late afternoon. The dining area is nice and well decorated. The wooden chairs are carved and looked very interesting. The food was good. The service was good. Our servers brought us chips and salsa and kept refilling them. I wished the salsa wasn't spicy. There is a good selection of alcohol an beer.
