My wife and I decided to stop here for lunch while viewing the murals and other artwork in downtown Coachella and we're glad we did! She ordered the chorizo torta and I ordered the chicken torta. Both were very filling and delicious! The bread, the meat, the lettuce --- it was all fresh and freshly prepared. I always love visiting Mexico because of the great food and this was the kind of authentic Mexican food you get as if you were dining in Mexico City. Stumbled into Jalisco Restaurant today while driving around the East Valley checking out Desert X. It looked authentic and in fact it was. The tables looked just like you might see in a taqueria in Mexicali. The grill was steaming away, and there were quite a few tables with happily chatting people, so we knew the food had promise. And we were hungry for a tasty lunch. Our waitress was terrific - she was more than willing to customize the dishes we ordered, my wife choosing the carne asada tostada, and flour tortilla tacos (one each carne asada and al pastor) for me. My tacos, without onions but with lettuce, tomato and cheese, were simply delicious. My wife said the same for her tostada. In a valley with literally hundreds of Mexican eating spots to choose from, we will definitely return to Jalisco Restaurant to try breakfast next time around. read more

This place got us thru the pandemic on the weekends last year. We usually just ordered take out but this time we decided to eat in with our children. I have to say it was a real disappointment. Just left there. I cannot believe how horrible the food was. I went because of bad reviews. I ordered a beef and chicken taco. When I bit into the chicken I almost threw up on the plate. It was so disgustingly bad. Completely inedible. The waitress agreed. Took to the manager. She told me that he took it off., my husband paid the bill and NOTHING was taken off. This was one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants growing up and it upsets me how downhill they've gone over the past few years. I called earlier to order some tacos but the guy who answered and also stated he's the "manager"answered the phone and wow he was not having it! At first it astonished me how he responded my call since I have been ordering here since I was a little girl and have not encountered such behavior. I also have a businesses and I love my jobs too much to have such poor customer service. Plus this incident has occurred before with the same guy who hates his job because last time my husband called to order and he was being so rude to him but of course my husband is super respectful and was being polite just so he can finish taking our order but not me honey bunch! I don't tolerate disrespect. I asked him for his name and he said "Oscar Castillo" but he can just be lying to me which is crazy since he proudly claimed to be the manager. This is one of my family's favorite restaurant but it saddens me that this lady completely ruined a great place. This employee treated my mom and grandpa with such disrespect. My mom nicely asked to get a table cleaned up so my family when they arrived could sit there and that's when the lady gave my mom horrible attitude and told her to sit in a smaller table because she didn't want to clean it up. My family was coming from the hospital because my uncle got ran over by a truck on thanksgiving and is in the middle of surgeries. They decided to eat at our favorite restaurant only for this lady to give my family horrible attitude and fight with my family. If any of the managers see this, please do something about this. We love this place and have been coming for many years and would hate for this person to ruin the restaurant. They came with rice, delicious ,and refined beans. I ordered corn torritas. Something was done to the torritas that made them extra special. My friend ordered cheese tamales. When they came we were cautious. They looked flat and uninteresting. Boy were we wrong. As much as I loved my meal I wished I had ordered the tamales. They were mashed and grilled on both sides. Hole in the wall restaurant that was recommended to us by the people at the Ace Hotel when we were getting our Desert X maps and info. After a fun day of driving around the desert to check out the art, we stopped at Jalisco for a late lunch. They didn't have any outdoor seating, so my doggie had to wait for us in the car. That made me nervous as the windows were down for her. We kept checking on her, though, and she was happily waiting for us when we finished our lunch. There were eight in our party and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. I had a salad with carne asada and the hubby had chicken enchiladas.
