This is about the worst "Mexican food" I have ever tried and I've grown up in LA. I ordered two chicken tacos: Pollo Asado. I was served two oversized corn tortillas with some chicken strips and a slice of lemon. That's it. With their chips they serve a warm sauce they call salsa so I asked for some fresh salsa and it was really just water-based with no flavor. We are on an adventure trying Mexican food in Indio. Also we love Indio and we live nearby so we want to support the area. Rincon Norteño was so disappointing. So onward we go!!! read more

We had shrimp and beef fajitas, rice, beans, corn/flour tortillas, chips and salsa. For the vegetarian's the beans have lard, but you are good to eat the rice. The staff were so friendly. Chorizo con huevos for life! I've tried other things on the menu, and they're all delicious, BUT to me, this place makes the best chorizo con huevos I've ever had. So that's my usual order here. They also make some yummy, spicy papas. And I don't know what kind of sorcery they put in their bean dip, but I often crave it. My lovely husband introduced me to this place. He grew up in the desert and has fond childhood memories dining here with his family. We've since moved away from the desert so anytime we're remotely in the area, we make sure to stop in for a meal. The staff is always friendly. They even remember my husband and his family by name. We never have issues with parking. They've definitely put money into the business and remodeled. The margaritas were among the best i have had; they very large and festively adorned. although the taste was well received by everybody in the party, some of us did have some indigestion later that night - would go back and try again. I have been coming here for over 30 years. Rincón Norteño is a small casual Mexican restaurant that has been in the Valley since 1964. Their salsa is amazing, it's not your typical cold salsa it is served warm homemade tortilla chips. I always usually sit at the counter so I can watch football or basketball and be close to my server. I order either the chili Verde or the green chicken enchiladas combination plates. I get both the rice and beans. Rincon has the best rice it's moist. A lot of Mexican restaurants serve it very dry and I appreciate the fact they don't. I love their refried beans. Every time I am in the valley, I make sure to stop by and enjoy a meal and place an order for salsa to go. read more

It was about 7 on a Sunday and they had maybe 5 tables taken and we kind of stood in the door to see if we just sit anywhere or will be seated. We were told to pick a table and a bowl of chips with warm salsa were brought with the menus. Both good, just bit spicy without having any water given or offered. The Cadillac margaritas arrived to help except they were sooo strong we could barely drink them. We each left at least half. Ordered the Rincon combo and a 2 item combo with taco and tamale. Rincon combo was fair. The 2 item combo - they put a red sauce on the tamale (what?) that I think was done to cover it being so dry (it almost looked like chips under the sauce). The meat in the taco had an unpleasant taste. We asked a server for water that didn't arrive until asked for again. Decor is so basic I can't even recall more than basic wood tables, wooden chairs with leather seats and nothing to "spruce" the place. Will not return to this one. read more

I was staying nearby for a concert, and wanted to try a Mexican breakfast that all the locals eat at. This was the right place! It was packed and I definitely see why. The food is amazing! I had the shredded beef nachos. It comes with a mild red sauce on top. The nachos were so flavorful. Definitely enough to share. My husband had a combo plate with chicken enchiladas and a chile relleno. He loved his meal. The chips and salsa were great and the service was very attentive. Lots of tasty shredded chicken. The vegi was sliced green peppers and tomatoes - not what I was expecting, but tasted pretty good also. The enchalata was very good. The beef in the taco was dried out and tough. Both dishes came with refried beans and rice. The beans were excellent - smooth and creamy. The rice was, well, rice. But these past few months we don't know what happened with the flavor and quality of the food that there's not so much flavor in it or salt we usually end up adding some beans are bland rice is a hit or miss salsa lacks salt. Came here off of a recommendation from my neighbor who was born and raised in the area and said this place was the best Mexican food in the area. I had the mangoneda margarita and it was really good flavored. Wife had the Cadillac and she liked it as well. We had the guacamole appetizer and it was awesome that it's severed with a plate of chips and cheese. Guacamole was some of the best I've had. Entrees were solid. Wife had a beans rice and cheese burrito which was of big size. I had the 3 item combo. The Carne Asada Taco I had was good but it was just meat and a corn tortilla which was a little disappointing as I was hoping for cheese and lettuce. The cheese enchilada was solid. I ended uo getting a Carne Asada burrito for my last item and it was like a full size burrito. Value was excellent for the plate. For some reason I caught a smoky flavor through most of the items and my wife noticed it as well. It was odd but not anything that ruined my meal. Customer service was excellent. One of the hidden gems of Indio, California this is a place where mostly locals, but you will see an occasional tourist just because they know someone local on her about it from the hot spicy salsa, bean dip to fresh chili as well as enchiladas, green or red plates are always hot and full the atmosphere amazing as you look at the barstool from 30 years ago it reminds you of a time wentMexican food didn't have all that flash or yuppie style. We went to the Rincon on Saturday, October 12 (party of 6). The service was the worst. Our waitress was the worst. We came in and only 2 tables were taken. We ordered our food and waited and waited. We ordered the house guac and she never brought it. Almost an hour later ( when she finally looked over to our table) she started bringing us 1 plate at a time. The food was cold, the eggs were runny and the meat was undercooked. Our drinks and water were never refilled. When we got the bill I asked her not to charge us for the guac and she blamed the cooks for not giving it to her! Bad service and overpriced food. Will never go there again. This is slowly becoming my go-to place for authentic Mexican food here in the Coachella Valley. No frills and traditional Mexican and Tex-Mex food is served here by great and friendly staff who treat me and my family like we are their family. My kids love the chorizo and eggs as well as the bean and cheese burrito (which my son swears is one of the best he's had). Salsa is unique....don't expect a traditional red salsa, but it has quite a kick and plenty of flavor. When I go there, I usually order the fajitas (which comes out on a sizzling skillet), the deep fried pork chops (amazing!), and the Nuevo Leon combo. Also, you can't forget their flan, which is one of the best I've had out here. Drinks are great here as well....my wife loves the margaritas here and I'm a fan of their chavelas and sangria. The restaurant has been out here for sixty years and ran by the same family...they must be doing something right! LOL read more

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years now and the food is always delicious! This time around was no different as I went for the Machaca con Huevo and the other dish pictured is the Taquitos de Res which my girlfriend had ordered and liked. The staff here are always friendly and do their best to get all the orders out on time. When the place is packed with people it is hard to get a seat and when you do, you feel jammed in your seat not wanting to push your chair into somebody sitting near you.
