We were seated in the upstairs area which where it has 2 bars , order thru the bartender and the food came within 15 mins or so. Vibe is lovely, music on jammin to Bon Jovi and others . And I love the fact it goes out to outdoor seating area with beautiful views. Oh you can also come straight outside if you have your pup with you! Now onto the food, drinks were delicious, my niece cucumber mint mocktail was so refreshing too. And my white chocolate martini was so good! Onto the food, we got whipped ricotta (yummy!) , crispy chicken littles (pretty good), and crispy chicken fried rice. Now on this one, gotta stay I wasn't expecting 2 chicken legs and fried rice... but more chicken, though for the taste, a little bit too salty and mush to my liking . Some people may like it but I'll most likely be ordering something else next time.

And this led to me discovering just how much of a certifiable beer haven Max's is! For a Philly comparison I'd put Max's on the same caliber as Glory Beer Bar and Kitchen but with a beer bible on the same scale as Monk's. It's been a beer haven for going on four decades and it shows with their 100+ rotating taps, 1000+ bottles & cans, a 4 casks that feature plenty of local Baltimore brews alongside the finest from Belgium, Germany, and then some! They even have seasonal special events like a Sour Beer Fest in June, and a Rare & Obscure Beer Weekend in October. The bar interior was classic wood, with a huge main bar that showcased the many brew and spirit options. The bartenders were also spot on with their service and spot on beer suggestions. For food being so close to the waterfront had me craving some seafood, and the rockfish sandwich delivered with its Chesapeake seasoning and remoulade dressing. Each day of the week has a beer special at Max's, and Thursday meant that I was enjoying a discount on full pint cask pours. I liked that Max's had transparent pricing available for 4 oz to large pours and growlers to go on their menu for each and every draft beer, and the 4 oz pours made it easier to enjoy the 11% abv barleywine beer from a Baltimore brewery that I was curious about without feeling some extra inebriated repercussions during my ghost tour. It was extra details like that which had me really enjoying Max's and dubbing it a must visit for any beer lover visiting Baltimore.

The beers are listed by number, but nobody tells you that you're supposed to order that way. I ordered a beer by its actual name, and the bartender acted like I was an idiot for not knowing their system. And nowhere in the restaurant or on the menu does it explain how to order. And numerous other people were doing the same thing. How hard is it to make a sign and/or update your website/menu? On top of that, even if you have a table, you still have to go up to the bar to order. When the place is busy, it's a complete shitshow. You're fighting through a crowd just to get a drink while your table sits empty. Whoever came up with this ordering system clearly doesn't care about being easy to do business with. Terrible setup, and the male bartender Roberts's attitude made it even worse. Our group consisted of two bank CEO's, a law enforcement officer and a senior executive in investment banking. I started with a cup of the seafood chowder as Yaya recommended it over the cream of crab. Great choice. Flavorful. Veggies, seafood, and bacon a really nice combo. On to the mussels. Chose the white wine garlic over the Cajun butter and Old Bay butter options, again based on Yaya's recommendation. She said, as much as she loves Old Bay, just too salty on the mussels. These mussels were awesome. The cook knows, if a mussel doesn't open, don't serve it. All were opened and I assume they throw out the ones that don't. A great look! Place is very cool looking. Meet bar. Tables outside. It was slow as I was there for lunch at 2:00 but all in all a really good place and hope you get to meet Yaya if you come in. The Crab Dip was very good with lumbed crab + creamy cheeses throughout, and it was served in a soft bread bowl. This was one of the best crab dips I've had and would highly recommend! For entrees, I got the Crab Grilled Cheese which was basically the crab dip, cheese, bacon and a slice of tomato on toasted bread. This was good however I would have liked some more lumps of crab to make it meateer.
