I don't remember having been to a Huddle House before. This review is for this location, on this specific visit. The overall brand may be fine. I know that the two souls working this morning did their best. Their leadership clearly underestimated how many people would come out for breakfast on a New Years day. While reinforcements did eventually show up, we in that first wave took a bit of a slight in timing and preparation of the food. When you are in the weeds, and feeling rushed you are not always at your best. Today's marginal performance is on the franchise owner and the manager doing scheduling, not the two people hustling as best they could. I got a Philly cheese steak omelet, hash browns and a biscuit. It was all just okay- cooked a bit too fast and hot so all of the textures suffered, the flavors no time to really develop. My wife got her standard eggs, sausage, hash brown and toast. Same issues it was okay, but the rush cook job left a bit to be desired on the flavors and textures. The place was reasonably clean, it's not overdone on decorations, a nice enough place. We will likely give it another chance at some point. We certainly wouldn't make a 12 mile drive like we did this morning. read more

8/2021 We only dropped by while traveling. Never been in a Huddle House before. This stop certainly will encourage us to stay next time and seek out other Huddle House's while traveling. Payton was amazing! She was patient with us, being rookies, and helped us through things. We had a semi complicated to go order but she got us through it and fixed everything up. Payton smiled a lot and was quite pleasant and encouraging. She made it a bright stop on our trip! The food was good. Loved the Onion Rings and Tater Tots! The atmosphere was fun. I would like to start by saying that I don't know that I have ever gone to a restaurant and left wanting to write a negative review before. I typically give people the benefit of the doubt and try to understand that no one Is perfect, sometimes things don't go as planned, etc. With that being said, I do want to say that our very young waitress did the very best she could and was apologetic and very sweet. The restaurant was not overly busy and had several empty tables. We ordered and after not receiving our food at the 55 min mark, I asked our waitress if she could check on it for us, as we were traveling and wanting to get back on the road soon. She apologized and said that it really should not be taking this long. She went to check on it and came back and told us it would be out in five minutes. We waited another 30 minutes and still no food.The entire time we sat there, we listened to the older man who was clearly frustrated and the only cook, yelling and talking down to the other staff. He also did not wear a mask or gloves the entire time he was cooking and we were there 1 1/2 hours total. I got up to use the restroom and we decided that if the food wasn't there when I returned, we were leaving. On the way to the restroom, I passed by the kitchen and that's when I knew we were leaving. It was completely disgusting with open food and containers sitting out everywhere and the refrigerator doors were just wide open with unsealed food in them. We told our waitress we were leaving at that point and walked out. We witnessed several others get frustrated and walk out as well while we were there. If you are looking for a quick meal in a clean place, this restaurant is not for you! read more

I came in not knowing a thing about this place other that they advertise a smoked sausage wafflewich (waffles used as sandwich bread), so i imagined it was a diner. I did not have my hopes very high. Walking in, the atmosphere is actually pretty inviting and unique. Almost like a 50s themed place, but not really. It may be one of the very few places opened 24 hours a day in town. I ordered the Smoked Sausage Melt. It's a sausage sandwich with Swiss cheese and grilled onions and green peppers on Texas toast. It was a little too messy a sandwich for my liking. I didn't like that they used cheese sauce instead of actual Swiss cheese, feel like it would make the sandwich a lot better. If I came again, I think I'd try a wafflewich instead of a typical breakfast dish. Lastly, service was pretty slow. I did feel like I was being ignored as other customers were being attended while is at there. In their defense, I did come in around noon on a Sunday so it was semi-busy. read more

Very poor food quality and service. It took over a half an hour to get eggs and grits. The grits were watery I ordered Sunnyside up and got one sunny side up and one overcooked over easy. Food almost in edible. They are shorthanded so don't expect service either. Took 30 minutes to get a sandwich and eggs and toast. Definitely worth skipping. read more

Probably the worst excuse for a sit down breakfast. My order was the MVP breakfast and came with a few problems. 1st bacon was so very over cooked it was not edible. 2nd hash browns that could have passed for your typical household bricks. 3rd a waffle that was served cold enough that room temperature butter did not melted. 4th grits contained enough butter for about 6 servings. 5th toast was soggy from the amount of melted butter that was applied before it was plated. However, my eggs and glass of ice water were perfectly produced. My dining partner had the same issue with his hash browns as me. His eggs (scrambled) were runny when order well done. His bacon was good. Biscuits and gravy were fine. And the sweet iced tea was good too. Will never return to this location as the service was just okay as well. read more

We had never been to a huddle house before we live an hour away and we're on our way to Springfield IL walked in at 8am we were greeted, and seated immediately Alex was our server he was great! He suggested a the Oreo cakes which my wife had they were so delicious I stole some bites and I had the southwest bowl very filling Alex kept our drinks full and plates cleaned off table! We also overheard the owner was our cook that really says something about this restaurant She did a terrific job with our order!! The restaurant and restrooms were clean overall this was the best dining experience we have had since Covid! Thank you so much for starting our day off very well! After a nice long hiatus from reviewing, Huddle House brought me back. I've heard of the place, never been, until today when the opportunity presented itself. Our group was a decent size, but nothing crazy. Five adults and three kids ranging from 3-11. My wife and I ordered and were shorted a bowl of chili on our order, but found it on our bill. Mom had no issues that I know of. Sister #1 ordered a bowl of chili with extra jalapeños, was charged for loaded chili and extra jalapeños, and was given a regular chili with only 6 jalapeño slices. Sister #2 was charged for a large chocolate milk and served a small, the order was for a small chocolate shake. The waitress came back to verify her son's order claiming she couldn't read her own hand writing, then failed to deliver his food at all. When we realized it wasn't delayed due to the previous error, my sister flagged the waitress down and was met with "you should have said something sooner," and then she walked away as the cook voiced his realization that the order had been forgotten from his side of the room. Still no apology, the food came out eventually. Taking a look around, there were 2-3 tables aside from ours, so not busy at all by any standard. I won't get into the wait for our food because it was the least of my concerns. It wasn't horrible if you remove the fact my nephew had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes for his food. But a few things didn't take place that should have. Menu states bottomless drinks, tho most of us say with empty glasses the entire meal. Moving on, I already mentioned the bills coming and the errors, but just to provide some detail here, when the tickets came, my nephews food was on the bill, no discount or apology still. It was here that I remembered the chili I never received (as my nephews meal not coming at all had taken my attention). I was charged for the chili, of course. And as stated, my nieces order was never corrected with the exception of the charge for a large chocolate milk being reduced to a small. As she was notified of the errors, the waitresses response was one of aggregation, "well some of this is my fault but the kitchen did some of this." Still. No apology. None. Ok, so now consider that our table is literally 5 feet from the register, now we get to hear the waitress going at it with the kitchen about all the errors and where the blame goes. As we wait for the corrected tickets to come, another question is answered. The single table between us and the register has a purse, a jacket, some cleaning supplies and some mail sitting on it. What the hell? More of an oddity than anything. But nowhere near a major issue. As our waitress brings us the corrected tickets, she stops at the table, opens her purse to grab something, tidied up her mail, then walks away! Apparently we were siting in her office. Anyway, the food was actually pretty ok. I would say the pricing is too high, as a burger and fries at $9 or so should have more substance. The fries are obviously bulk bought frozen fries, and the burger, despite being a double, was smaller than a McDonald's double cheese. The fry serving was on par with a small fry from the same place. My sisters $5 bowl of chili was served in a shallow bowl, making it look bigger than it was. It looked like something out of a can. I could be wrong. The waffle my son ordered and the pancake my niece ordered were both pretty big, no concerns there. My nephews omelette was the biggest item but it was also the most expensive. Everyone else ordered sandwiches that frankly i paid no attention to. Professionalism and pride in service are not something to expect here. Neither is a quick meal. For the wait, the price, and the service, I'd prefer to go to fast food, get a better meal in 1/3 of the time and half the price. Fast food might mess up now and again, but they always make it right and apologize. Litchfield has had much better food places fail for one reason or another, and Huddle House is destined to be an empty building if this is the best they can do. read more

Been here several times and had several servers. Kind, courteous and friendly. The cook even came out and asked me if my food was cooked right. Everything was excellent - chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes (lumpy like they should be) and gravy. And those green beans are sooo good. My friend had breakfast and said the bacon is the best she's ever had. She shared her waffle and it was also really good. Service was a little off tonight though. read more

If I could leave a 0 star review I would. Let me start off by saying, I am by no means a picky person. However, my boyfriend and I have never been more disappointed. The first time we ever went, was on my birthday about a year ago. We came in the afternoon, it wasn't very busy. I ordered wings. The wings were not cooked all the way, the sauce tasted like it came right out of a bottle, tthe fries were cold. We waited forever for our drinks to be refilled, and to get our check. After that, we waited over 6 months to give them a second chance. When we went the second time, we ordered burger, fries, and country fried steak with sides. The burger was decent, fries were cold, and the country fried steak was horrendous. The gravy was good. Waitress was friendly, but wasn't attentive to her tables. We chalked it up to sub-par experience and didn't return again until tonight. Tonight, we came in at 10:30PM on a Friday night. There was no one in the restaurant except one other table. We waited 5 minutes before anyone came to our table to take our drink order. Then, 10 minutes before she took our food order. After that we waited about 25 minutes to get our food, during which the waitress came up to us flustered and fed us an excuse "We had a huge table before you guys, that's why it took so long. We are bringing it out as soon as each part of your meal is finished" Then she proceeded to bring each side dish out separately on a different plate (we had like 5 plates on our table!). We weren't even upset at the wait, so her comment seemed very passive aggressive and unnecessary. We were fine waiting and hadn't complained. So, once she brought out the eggs, as soon as she set the plate down in front of us, she got flustered and said "Do you want your eggs cooked more?" (He had ordered sunny side up eggs) The eggs were ATROCIOUS. They had took all 3 eggs, cooked them together, so it looked like an egg cake. It was not cooked AT ALL. There was clear liquid pooling on top of the "egg cake", and there was no browning on the "egg cake" at all. You could just tell they hadn't cooked long enough.... But we STILL hadn't even complained. She just instantly saw the eggs, and offered to take them back and "cook them more". We said sure, go ahead. And she seemed super mad, even though she offered?? So she takes the eggs back, has them cook the SAME EGGS on the grill (I am pretty sure this breaks a sanitation law, as EVERY place I've worked at, you don't take the same food back and put it back on the grill... you make a NEW order. The clear liquid-y stuff on the top is gone, so he cuts into the "egg cake" and the yolk is liquidy (which is fine, that's how sunny-side up eggs are) but IN THE YOLK there is globs of clear substance, which is an obvious sign they were STILL not cooked all the way... When she came to check on us, she noticed he still hadn't eaten the eggs, and asked "Is there still a problem with your eggs?" To which we were both taken aback because it almost seemed like she wanted to argue about it, but we had been nothing but polite the entire time. We stated that the eggs just didn't seem like they were cooked enough still, but that it was okay and we were already full. She then began to spout off about how we "should have ordered our eggs over medium if we didn't want a liquidy-yolk" and that it was OUR fault for ordering wrong..... We tried to explain that the liquidy-yolk was not the issue at all, as we have ordered sunny-side up eggs from plenty of places, and know exactly what they are suppose to be like... they are not suppose to be all cooked together, in a thick cake-like shape, with no crispy/brown edges, and globs of clear liquid from the white of the egg that wasn't cooked. She continued to argue about the different types of eggs and we just sat there in silence... On top of that, the country fried steak and baked potatos were also undercooked, the sausage patty was cold. But atleast the gravy was good! read more

Probably one of the most uncomfortable eating experiences ever. The 2 waitresses were fighting and angry at each other and there was nothing but bickering back and forth. The blonde waitress was sniffling the when time which leads me to believe she is on some sort of drug. She is irritable and very unprofessional. The young kid that's actually making the food is neutral and doing a good job. I would have rather just walked in and only had him to deal with. read more

Well considering the other reviews I will start off by saying we came in around 11am and plenty of room to sit and enjoy your meal. Place is a small establishment and can see it getting busy. Have a large menu of breakfast but other options as well. Food was good, not top notch but good enough to eat that's for sure.staff was also very friendly and attentive. Waited almost an hour and 10 minutes for lukewarm to cold food. People were complaining and leaving the restaurant. The wait staff was nice and apologetic and there were plenty of people in the back, food just wasn't coming out or was coming out half complete like my chicken sandwich. For this I had the honor of paying 27.00 for two meals. Wrote to Huddle House about my experience and no one had the courtesy to reply back. Then we took our order they had started to take a bit and we were fine with that then, It took even longer and longer I think we were there for an hour and we still didn't get our food. Martie is the best server in WNC! The food was good and the service outstanding! Not to have to ask for anything was so appreciated. Right on the first time! This was during breakfast at 9 a.m. Everything was put on the table....flatware, sugar, salt & pepper, other condiments extra cream and even extra napkins.
