This could be a Michelin star. Food is awesome. I used to go here once a week. Strongly suggest their sausage.

Visits in JUL-AUG-OCT 2025…read more We moved into town this summer. Our realtor provided gift certificate as a closing congratulations. After we came the first visit I wanted to take my time, have a few more visits before I wrote. My rating of 3 (okay) in this case think of it as an academic C, a passing grade but certainly room for improvement. Rooster's Pub is okay, the food is okay, the service is okay, it is clean. If you are looking for a bar food meal this is an okay place to choose. You can stop here, disregard the rest and make your choice. I suspect that Rooster's is popular locally (and has some high ratings) is familiarity, and a customer base that hasn't widely traveled, there is nothing wrong with that. I am comfortable saying that this place is also likely a good bar, for those interested in that environment. It is not quite for me (us) as a restaurant. We have only been during the lunch hours. I have never owned a bar or restaurant. I worked in them at various levels earlier in life. I acknowledge how tough it is to be a bar that also has standout food. In my experience that is rather rare. I know that when a bar does get that balance right, they have a limited menu. They make a few things and make them well. A full menu is always going to have to carry some amount of frozen "Sysco" things dropped into hot oil. Our meals, I have had two okay tenderloins and one burger, my wife two fish (slightly overdone) meals, and one burger. My wish is for continued success for Rooster's, it is a fine place for others. As currently functioning it is not a place for me. This is also okay if the oil is always fresh, and the cook is attentive and pulls things soon enough to guard color/texture and the cooking finishes during delivery to table. On another note it seems that in our 3 visits, things are cooked hard and fast but then sit in the window, cooling until delivered lukewarm and past that "golden moment". A few lines about the fries. People do like them, I however do not prefer house cut fries. I think the basic restaurant frozen fry, well executed, is an easy win. Our's have been dark and soggy on arrival. I did get the tots on the middle visit (better), had forgotten the fry defeciency and got them this last time. My wife, a Midwestern lover of all things potato, left nearly half of her order. Overall plating has been a bit haphazard, not expecting a cooking show, but I do appreciate something that arrives looking intentional. There just doesn't seem to be a level of care applied to the meals that have come to our table (a note on that at the end). We have only had the same two front of house workers. They are polite (maybe stiffly and overly so), they get the order right and they accomplish the mission. However is feels a bit like a "transaction", which I understand it is, the customers aren't your friend. I don't think it's just us, there doesn't seem to be any warmth with anyone that comes in (even what I presume are regulars). If there is a scale with annoyed that I exist on one end, and a warm hug on the other, the service here is much closer to the left hashmark. A final note about my meals here. If the gaps in execution are some message that I am not worthy of a best effort, or simply not welcome- message received.

The name of the restaurant is wrong here on Yelp! The correct name is Shelly's Smash Burger…read more Staff were very friendly. Ingredients were all fresh. Prices very reasonable. It's not really a truck stop, but it is part of a convenience store at a Phillips 66 gas station. The only options for burgers in Waterloo near where we are, are either fast food or Denny's, Applebees, etc. It's a bit of a drive down Rte 3 to Red Bud, but if you want a very good burger at a reasonable price it's worth making the trip.

It was a little bit confusing on if we went to the main checkout or the one in the corner, which is kind of like a weird restaurant/ gambling area. Anyway, after we figure out what we wanted we waited for the order and ate it on the drive home. It did not package well, even from the store to the car which was like a 10-second walk. The fries were mushy and gross, and I feel like the burger was completely underwhelming. I think steak 'n shake has some of the best burgers. If we were going to stop somewhere local we probably should have done that. That. There's nothing to write home about and they offer a discount on some ice cream that's hand scooped, my partner got some of that and tried it and it was completely freezer burnt. So needless to say we won't be back, but it was I guess. Guess interesting to check out a local spot that I've been curious about. 3/10 won't try again and wouldn't recommend.

For the first time in forever we got there during happy hour so what do we do? Save money? No, we order two appetizers instead of one! We always get the wings, and we got fried pickles that were part of the $5 appetizer choices, you can choose from several and alcohol specials, too. I always do build your own, you fill out the sheet from a pad on the table choosing your ingredients by category. I usually get the beef but last couple times I have ordered chicken but got similar toppings, Spinach, tomato, chipotle aioli, and fried jalapenos on toasted sourdough. Love it! For a small upcharge you can get a salad as a side, I like to do that because I can steal a few of the delicious fries from my companions. The salad is generous, spring mix, red onion, tomato, croutons. It comes with shaved parmesan, but I ask them to leave that off. The champagne vinaigrette is perfect. This is my favorite burger place, but I like that I can get a great chicken sandwich!

Sneaky's Review - 4/25/26…read more Food: Really quite good. If you want a great burger--whether classic or a bit more eclectic-- some crispy tots, a fantastic soft pretzel with cheese, or the very best chili around, this is the place. Drinks flow continuously, and the bar conversation is always good. Atmosphere: A relaxed, laid-back vibe--especially when the windows are open. We enjoy the extra bar seating, and the back patio is a great spot as well. Staff: One of the best parts of Sneaky's is the people. It's always nice being recognized as a familiar face, and the entire team is consistently friendly and welcoming. A special shout-out to Jason for his command and control of the chaos on super busy nights--Jason multitasks effortlessly and keeps everything running smoothly. In my opinion, dealing with the public is an art form, and Jason is Sneaky's Bob Ross. Heather, Peyton, Dany, Alex, Rainey, and the rest of the crew are also fantastic. Yes, the food is great--but it's the staff that keeps us coming back. Sneaky's owners (Casey and Tyler) have not only reimagined what a great burger-and-beer spot can be, they have surrounded that food and drink with a staff that makes you feel like your with family. Well done guys.
