When Vegas Came to Jerseyville…read more I have dear friends who live in Jerseyville and ALWAYS talk about how much they love Nick's Pancake House. When I had the chance to visit them in Jerseyville, and we talked about where to have breakfast, I knew it had to be Nick's. I was NOT disappointed in the least, the service and the meal were everything I had expected after hearing from my friends. The portions were enormous, the ingredients were fresh, everything was delicious. I chose to have the "Hungry Man" which consisted of 3 eggs any way, sausage, bacon, hash browns, and a half order of biscuits & gravy (and the gravy was goooood y'all). Nick himself stopped by to say hello as well so it was nice to visit with him. I have eaten breakfast all over my adopted city of Las Vegas, NV, and I would put anything at Nick's up against anything found here in Vegas. (One of our party had the strawberry banana crepes and I had serious crepe envy when hers were delivered! They looked amazing!) If you're ever roaming around Jerseyville, IL and find yourself hungry - check out Nick's and tell him Vegas sent you. You will not be disappointed!!

The menu offers a wide variety of sandwiches, soup, and appetizers. Hop in line and place your order at the counter. Snag a seat, and prepare for a treat! We ordered a few different sandwiches and were pleased with all of them. The portions were generous, and served with a side of your choice. The stand out was the lobster bisque. Rich and creamy and delicious! I'd drive back just for a bowl of soup. Pro tip: we highly recommend the wine slush. The peach was a fan favorite. Wine, ice, and fruit blended together is a winner!!

All the employees were really nice along the way, no issues there. What stood out to me was the amount of traffic where you order was nuts, but they were all nice and happy to help with our first visit. Thanks all we appreciate it!

In addition to the sweet treats, one of the highlights of stopping by and even driving by, is reading their marque. The messages are always, witty or supportive of another local business. I love it when local supports local. Recently, I had a Chocolate Covered Strawberry concrete and I liked it more than my typical favorite M&M concrete. The chocolate ice cream with flakes of solid chocolate and pieces of strawberry made my day. I've also enjoyed, chocolate and vanilla twist cones, but the orange sherbet and vanilla is still my favorite. I keep saying, I need to try their burgers, so I'll say it again. I gotta try their burgers. The restaurant has a nostalgic look and feel. The staff is young high school and college students and they're always friendly. They truly hustle and make things happen for their ice cream fans. Next time you're in Edwardsville, be sure to make a stop at Northside Dairy Haven.

Pro tip: definitely check their hours before you go--and honestly, just plan your day around it because it's that good. I was expecting your typical little coffee-and-sandwich spot, but it completely exceeded my expectations. They have a couple of parking spaces behind the building, and if those are full, there's a free lot about 500 feet down the road. It was pretty busy at lunchtime. You order at the counter, and they bring everything to your table. There's a mix of indoor and outdoor seating in various sizes, and the decor is adorable. I especially loved the maps--they make great conversation starters. I noticed several tables pointing out places they'd visited and swapping travel stories. The menu has a nice variety. I ordered the chicken salad on ciabatta with a side salad. The chicken salad had a strong dill flavor that I really enjoyed, and the ciabatta was perfectly fresh--not too tough. Next time, I'll probably pick a different side since the salad was basically just lettuce. If there was any dressing, it was super light, so I ended up adding some of the lettuce into my sandwich. The surprise standout, though, was the lavender lemonade--a total sleeper hit. It was scorching hot that day, and I wanted something refreshing, so I ordered it on a whim. Honestly, it was the best lemonade I've ever had. I don't usually find myself making a special trip to a café just for lemonade, but here I am. I'm not sure if it's seasonal, but I really hope it sticks around.

Biscuits and gravy is one of those things I always think sounds good on a menu and I'm always disappointed. At this place I'd say the biscuit was very good and the gravy was okay. Eggs were eggs. Fine. Good hashbrowns. Good coffee. We got a cinnamon roll to share among all of us at our table. It was very good. Hot, soft, fluffy, sweet, yeasty in that good way. I'd call it the highlight of the meal. The various items in the bakery case looked delicious. Cozy, family-friendly interior. We really enjoyed the experience and would definitely return.

So, tonight I decided to stop in for coffee and a cinnamon roll. They have my favorite drink on menu so I figured I would try their flat white. I ordered a regular flat white with extra shot of espresso. The staff that served me was very kind and offered to warm my cinnamon roll. She also noted that the espresso machine was going through a cleaning cycle and it would take longer and asked if that was alright. I stated that was no problem and waited. I'd love to say that everything about my experience here was amazing or even great, but unfortunately it fell flat for me and I feel like I wasted some of my money here. The cinnamon roll, it was pretty darn good. I'm picky with my cinnamon rolls and I would definitely come back here for this one. The cinnamon roll was a great size, very good on price point, and most important it was goood! The dough was soft and fluffy with good cinnamon roll gooeyiness throughout, especially in the center. The cream cheese filling was pretty good, not overly sweet. It did have a bit much icing on it for my personal taste but I don't see this being a problem for a lot of people and I'm pretty use to just scraping some off the top to my liking. So, yes, if you are looking for a good cinnamon roll, come to the Vault for theirs. Definitely worth the trip. Unfortunately, the coffee was a miss. I was unable to drink it because it had way too much milk in it. Even with the extra shot of espresso I could only taste milk. I waited to drink it until I got home and brewed a stronger cup of coffee to add to it and still too much milk. So, I saved it for my kiddo who likes coffee flavored milk. Next time for me I'll be ordering plain coffee or americano with my cinnamon roll. That was unfortunately $6.xx coffee I couldn't enjoy. And I was looking forward to having a great cup of coffee with my cinnamon roll! While I was there I thought I would get my husband a concrete. He loves a good mint concrete with some chocolate to it. I knew he didn't like chocolate chips in his mint though so I asked for mint and krunch. I legit thought this would be a crunch bar broken up in with it. When she handed me the concrete I noticed there were a bunch of sprinkles in it so I asked where the sprinkles came from. The staff member told me it was in the krunch. I stated I did not realize that was what krunch was and thought it was the chocolate crunch bar. She stated that it was like a peanut brittle with sprinkles. This was mostly on me...I should have made sure krunch was what I was assuming/thinking krunch was. Despite that, the staff member was very kind and offered to remake the concrete for me. She was in the middle of another order though and told me she would remake a concrete when she was finished. I waited for her to finish thinking she'd come back and ask how I'd like to remake it. I was thinking I'd order him a mint and hard shell or maybe mint and Oreo. However, she just handed me another concrete. I realized she just made a mint chocolate chip. I knew my husband wasn't going to like it, but I felt bad asking her to remake it again so I decided to just take it and head home. I was right, he couldn't eat it. The chocolate chips were just too much and they get hard when in icecream which isn't enjoyable to bite into. So unfortunately, that was thrown out as well. Another $6.xx that wasn't enjoyed. Definitely room for improvement and I hope this feedback helps for future visitors. I do appreciate the staff there. Everyone was very friendly. They were busy and still offered to remake my concrete. It just was unfortunate that I wasn't asked how I would like the concrete remade. This is a very nice place to hang out indoors or outdoor. They have a very spacious inside area with lots of seating from comfy chairs, to bar stools, to hi top tables, to big tables for families/large groups.
