Everyone and everything I've ever eaten here was great food great service owners there if needed so great family friendly staff and friends

We drove to Jerseyville early this afternoon to try Nick's. They close at 2pm on Sunday so we wanted to arrive with plenty of time to eat. We arrived around 1pm, apparently their peak but we were quickly seated. Though busy, noise levels were moderate and ambiance was typical of a family restaurant. We both had the country fried steak and biscuits, Karla with scrambled eggs and American fries, basically seasoned fries cut into cubes. She didn't care for the seasoning but she's admitted picky with a very low tolerance for spicy food. I had mine with traditional hash browns and eggs over easy. I've had better country fried steak but it was decent and the meal was otherwise great. Everything was served on one plate, just the way I like it, allowing me to mix things up with my hash browns and biscuits. The biscuits are served on the side of the plate, not topped with gravy in case you'd rather have butter and/or jelly on your biscuits, and they were hot and fluffy with good flavor. It was a very filling meal. The wait staff were great, friendly and responsive. We'll be sure to return to try other items from their impressive menu. read more

Went again to one of our amazing places we love going to! It was very very hot on this visit and not sure if their AC might have been off or just not running. Got something a little bit different than the usual and felt that it paid off pretty well! I wish it would have been cooler but that's alright will still come back! The staff were kind and helpful as always! Asked for sweet potato fries but the kitchen sent regular fries. Did not take very long at all to solve the problem with some replacement fries! Will always still recommend to anyone and love coming here!! read more

No bells and whistles here, it is a good ole fashioned comfort food diner/restaurant. The portions of food are over-whelming. You'd have to be starving to clean your plate. I tried, but I had to leave some of mine on the plate. I will start off by saying, my pancake was one of the best I've had since moving to this side of the river. It was huge, fluffy and a perfect light golden color on both sides. Yes, I am one of those pancake eaters who looks at both sides of their pancakes. It was warm enough that when I applied the whipped butter, it melted directly into the pancake. I am fairly certain that the maple syrup was imitation, but that was okay, it was still good. I like my eggs over hard, but here they over killed them. That's on me, next time I will do scrambled or over medium. They served up plenty of bacon, but I could tell it was prepared in advance, it was cold. I was given the choice of Hash Browns or American Fries and I choose, American. Next time I will try the HB's. These were the strangest American Fries I have ever had. They were little cubes with the skins still on. I did like the fact that they were extra crispy, but I was expecting a farmers wife style of American Fries. You know, slice potatoes fried with onions. The service was country friendly and attentive. I was extremely impressed with the attention they gave to cleaning booths and tables when a diner left. They are taking this pandemic seriously and cleaning to beat it. I will return, because I believe I can bump them up to 4 Stars like many of my friends have given them. The horseshoe hash browns were only lightly browned on one side made it soggy. Bacon with pancake was sent back as it was so fatty, then replaced with burnt bacon. Pancakes were huge and very nice. French toast was dry and no flavor. Service was acceptable, although server forgot to put down on set of hash browns for another guest. I thought I'd check this place out since there were not a lot of places open in Jerseyville on a Sunday. The reviews sounded convincing, so I came here. I was not impressed that much. It reminds me of those places where the 55+ age group people go, where they have a basic Americana menu. Nothing fancy or gourmet, just what you would find in a family breakfast/lunch/dinner establishment. One of those hometown places, I guess. I was gonna get the breakfast they are supposedly famous for, but I was in the mood for a sandwich. I went with the Club, and it was okay. Too much tomatoes. I know, I could have picked them off myself but it would have looked skimpier. Fries were okay. Service was so-so. The girl (short blonde, with glasses) clearly didn't want to be there, as I overheard her and the other waitresses say they'd rather be at home. For real. Yeah, very professional, ladies. read more

Food is great and there is so much more than the name suggests! In addition to breakfast all day options there is a full lunch and dinner menu. Great senior menu and delicious homemade soups. We were visiting from out of town and this was the right choice to satisfy everyone's diverse desires and needs. We came back a second time during our short five day stay. Our waitress, Xixa, was fabulous and very attentive to our needs, and even checked to see if the french fries were gluten-free for me. I most highly recommend this gem. We will definitely be returning on our next visit. read more

Nicks never disappoints! Yes the parking lot is small, yes they need more seating but other than that you can't go wrong here. Food is delicious and the portions are huge! Staff is always friendly and efficient. Order the chicken wrap & it was basically 2 wraps, trust me I had plenty of leftovers. Highly recommend read more

I travel a lot and enjoy stopping at small town diners. Nick's was the best I've had in a long time! I don't know how they make the scrambled eggs, but they were the best I've had! The hashbrowns were crispy and very plentiful. The bacon and the pancake were also VERY good. The service was attentive and fast. They earned my 5 Start rating. read more

We were passing through and Yelp directed us to Nick's Pancake House. It was late for lunch so they weren't busy. My husband ordered Godfather's Breakfast and he enjoyed it. The bacon and hash browns could have been more crispy he said. I ordered a burger and fries with chicken dumpling soup. It was fine, nothing special though. Portions are generous; food reasonably priced. Our biggest complaint was the flies. I know it's hard to keep them out of a food place but they need a serious extermination here!! read more

9-11-2017 We Stopped for breakfast. Tried the traditional Midwest standard.....biscuits and white sausage( 1/2 order) gravy and eggs. This was EXCELLENT (just like at home). Coffee was good but not excellent. European waitress was superior . Building is new and clean....Decor typical small town table and chairs. Nothing exciting but very pleasant. Parking.....very ample. we have always loved Nicks but last Saturday we stopped in for lunch. We were so disappointed our chicken strips were overcooked, very dry. Our broccoli was under cooked & hard. Needless to say we took the chicken strips home to our dog & left the rest. It's sad at $25 For lunch & left there hungry. read more

Always great food and service here. We went healthy so we ordered the chicken fried chicken and the chicken fried steak. Both were very good but I recommend a larger heaping of mashed potatoes, looks better and makes a good presentation. read more

When Vegas Came to Jerseyville I have dear friends who live in Jerseyville and ALWAYS talk about how much they love Nick's Pancake House. When I had the chance to visit them in Jerseyville, and we talked about where to have breakfast, I knew it had to be Nick's. I was NOT disappointed in the least, the service and the meal were everything I had expected after hearing from my friends. The portions were enormous, the ingredients were fresh, everything was delicious. I chose to have the "Hungry Man" which consisted of 3 eggs any way, sausage, bacon, hash browns, and a half order of biscuits & gravy (and the gravy was goooood y'all). Nick himself stopped by to say hello as well so it was nice to visit with him. I have eaten breakfast all over my adopted city of Las Vegas, NV, and I would put anything at Nick's up against anything found here in Vegas. (One of our party had the strawberry banana crepes and I had serious crepe envy when hers were delivered! They looked amazing!) If you're ever roaming around Jerseyville, IL and find yourself hungry - check out Nick's and tell him Vegas sent you. You will not be disappointed!! read more

The campsite host told us we needed to go here for breakfast and he was SO right! I had Corn Beef Hash and Eggs and hubby ordered the Ham Steak and Eggs. Both meals were divine and more reasonably priced than either of us have seen in quite some time. The waitresses were friendly and helpful in giving us directions around town. Pancakes were beyond delicious and so were the 2 skillet meals we had. The slight downside was that they mixed up our egg order on the skillets and we didn't really realize it until after we cut them all up in the skillet - we still ate them without a problem. I'm not dinging them for it as the service and pancakes made up for the slight snafu. We will definitely be back again! read more

Stopped on through Nick's Pancake house (on July 4th no less) and you can tell this is a very popular place in town. It was slammed with a line of folks waiting through the door (literally). It's a small town greasy spoon set up, tables and booths in ehat used to be a KFC. I ordered a Ruben and my wife got a salad, but I will 100% admit that if I had the opportunity to do it all over, I would get onion rings ( the looked so good). My wife was happy with her salad, it was huge. Like Seinfeld big salad big and she talked about it being great. My Reuben was good, but the 1000 island mixture was weird. The best was I can explain that it tasted like they had mixed in miracle whip with the thousand island drsssimg. It wasnt bad, but certainly noticible.
