Got an ok haircut. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't crazy-good either. I'd recommended out back hair shack myself.

I found Nailtique and visited about every 2-3 months when I was in High school in about 2007. Went…read moreto college in in the South and would come back for summers. That being said, I always came back to Nailtique when I was home. Services they've done for me: acrylics (new set & fill in), gel polish manicure, regular polish manicure & pedicure, & eyebrow waxing. Pros: -When having my nails done, I don't like to have to make idle small talk, I just want to lay back and/or zone out-- which I can do here. When I do want to chat, they are conversational. -Clean and not as chemical-smelling as some nail places. I have witnessed pedicure tub washing. -Kelly (the owner) and Amy give the best service out of the nail techs I've seen (there are some who, by rotation, I have not). -My little sister (7y.o.) got great service & the tech was very sweet to her. I don't remember her name, but it wasn't Kelly or Amy. -The most I've had to wait was 15 min. They do appointments & walk ins. -Convenient parking & location. -Reasonably priced. -Nail techs did not reek of cigarette smoke. (you know the places like that.) -I have been to places where they over-trim the cuticles and have been hurt, but this is not one of those places. Cons: -Sometimes the newer techs will rush or are over confident in their nail-art abilities (one time had a manicure I called my "shark bite" manicure (light blue base w/ a black red & white design)... conveniently in time for Shark Week). -Some nail techs are definitely not gifted with great massage abilities and they do seem distracted at times. The pedicure chairs are pretty nice though! -One time I did have a guy who I felt overcharged me for a simple nail art design, I didn't argue though, it looked nice. In summary: 3.5/5 Stars-- When you go to a nail salon that keeps steady walk in traffic like Nailtique does, sometimes quality suffers for the sake of quantity (this happens to almost all businesses). I've had a great track record with going to Nailtique: no infections, no clumpy nail polish (shake the bottle or open it & check it before you pick it next time?), relatively little wait (as long as it's not Prom Season), and a decent mani/pedi. If I go in expecting a life-changing nail Nirvana, I might be at the wrong place, but it's all in what nail tech you see and if she's seen about 30 other clients that day. Seek out Kelly or Amy!

This place is genuinely so unhygienic, their pedicures are a plastic bag in a bowl and the water…read moreisn't even warm it's room temp leaning cold. Then they make me bleed and wipe it with their crusty towels. I later saw them use the towel with my blood to wipe down pedicure chair. The guy who did my nails was so rude did a mediocre job, they all talked shit, and make you feel like an inconvenience. This place is also just generally not clean.

I used to come here because of convenience of location and affordability but every single time I…read morehad bad experience (on the very good days, I would rate their service as slightly below average). The workers are treated poorly and it shows, no one is happy to do a service, they don't communicate well with customers. This one irks me the most: there is no point making appointment, they will make you wait 30-40 mins at the very least before seating you. Pros: good hours of operation/usually able to seat you with no appointment with in 30 mins. Affordable price for students: they offer 10% discount for IU students. Cons: rude customer service, don't respect appointments, my anxiety makes it hard to speak up but when I try to, they make me feel very bad for asking them to clean a bubble or brush hair in my polish... they act like they are doing me huge favor and make me feel very guilty for speaking up. not friendly staff. They do not use new tools between clients/not extremely sanitary but also are more gentle and don't cut your skin very much during manicures (unlike other salons in town). At best, I give it a "meh."

I have had gel nails for a year now. first I have no doubt the person taking care of me forgot I…read morewas waiting, he said it would need to sit for 10 minutes for the removal, 25 minutes his coworker went and got him out of the back room. In less than a week later three had chipped off. I'm not a physical person so I know there's a chance it's old gel polish. It was an unusual color of orange. When I went back to show them what had happened, they said they would fix it but there was six people in front of me. I won't be back

Today was my first appointment with Tina and for the first time I left a nail appointment feeling…read moresatisfied with the service (in all my experiences at nails salons around bloomington). To be fair, I am picky about the shape and bulkiness of product (I keep my nails very short so having super pointy/almond doesn't suit me, but no tech seems to care about my opinion, I like mine more natural, round-ish, squoval, shaped) but Tina never sighed/gave me any attitude and my nails turned out perfect. There was a slight air bubble/hair/possibly dust particle that I could feel (and I pick my nails if they're not smooth), so I mentioned it and Tina quickly acknowledged and buffed it out before re-applying the top coat. The amount of times I've had experiences where I feel terrible asking for what I want has been many, but I am so happy I finally found a great salon in town! Tina is super nice and willing to help even decide on designs/colors without, again, making the customer feel like a burden. Pros: the above mentioned. 10/10 recommend. Cons: none really, maybe a real one being they don't carry biab gel/gel bottle inc polishes.

There was no soak off and then I was charged $10 for a removal that took two seconds. The nails are horrible. They are pointing up at you. Customer service is horrible.
