I used to come here because of convenience of location and affordability but every single time I had bad experience (on the very good days, I would rate their service as slightly below average). The workers are treated poorly and it shows, no one is happy to do a service, they don't communicate well with customers. This one irks me the most: there is no point making appointment, they will make you wait 30-40 mins at the very least before seating you. Pros: good hours of operation/usually able to seat you with no appointment with in 30 mins. Affordable price for students: they offer 10% discount for IU students. Cons: rude customer service, don't respect appointments, my anxiety makes it hard to speak up but when I try to, they make me feel very bad for asking them to clean a bubble or brush hair in my polish... they act like they are doing me huge favor and make me feel very guilty for speaking up. not friendly staff. They do not use new tools between clients/not extremely sanitary but also are more gentle and don't cut your skin very much during manicures (unlike other salons in town). I have had gel nails for a year now. first I have no doubt the person taking care of me forgot I was waiting, he said it would need to sit for 10 minutes for the removal, 25 minutes his coworker went and got him out of the back room. The design was very complex with over 6 colors, and she helped me pick out each color and compared it to the reference image. I have had trouble in the past with waiting a long time after my scheduled appointment at Crimson nails. Today I called this morning to make an appointment at 6:30 and specifically stated that I needed to be taken at 6:30. I got there, and they told me they made a mistake and wrote me down for 6:00 and I had to wait another 35 minutes. I didn't have time to wait. I also paid for a uber there and then had to pay for one home. Terrible service and extremely rude to do to a regular customer. I will no longer give my money to this business. I definitely recommend Nail World as they are efficient, provide great customer service, and do great nails. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE, RUDE OWNER AND STAFF, UNCLEAN ENVIRONMENT The owner of the salon worked on my pedicure. During the service, she proceeding to get up and walk around the shop touching other surfaces with the gloves she had on. When she came back to work on my pedicure once again, I asked nicely for her to replace her gloves and explained that I felt uncomfortable when she started touching other surfaces. She responded first by stating she didn't have any gloves left. I was shocked and asked again, you have no extra gloves? She told me that they were in short supply and angrily grabbed another pair to put on and proceeded to tell me that I should've stayed home if I was so paranoid about the virus. She continued to angrily work on my pedicure and tell me how I should not be worried about this anymore since everyone is vaccinated. A nail salon should be clean, regardless of whether people have vaccinations! My pedicure was not completed fully and they informed me that they were not going to fulfill the other service I still needed, acrylic nails. They told me that my standard is much too high for them. I don't recommend this place. There are plenty of other nail salons that deserve your money. I wouldn't recommend this place if your looking for a salon that actually cares about keeping their space sanitized and clean. read more

The staff is nice and the manicures have always lasted but I think the hygiene and the business practices are questionable. For one, yesterday I noticed only the male nail techs were working. In fact, one female nail tech starting working on a client who appeared to be a walk in and a male tech who had been in the back came running out and started talking to her (In Vietnamese) and took the client. They only take cash tips as well, so I'm concerned the employees aren't being treated fairly. Now about the nails. Yesterday I was cut while he was working and bled for several minutes (photo attached of my finger today). The tech also dropped a buffer file on the floor and started working with a new one, but while I was paying, a different tech picked it up off the floor and put it back in the drawer. Gross. The very next day, one chipped and I went back to get it repaired. She blamed me for the chip, but repaired it, this time putting on a top coat. They charged me $80 for two incorrectly done gel Manicures and $30 for a terrible French mani for my mother which completely chipped on every nail by the next day. I recently went to this nail salon and got a dip manicure and spa pedicure. My dip manicure is still holding up 2+ weeks later and is exactly what I wanted. The tech did not seem pleased to be doing dip, but still did a great job. The spa pedicure was subpar. The tech did not wash his hands before or after my pedicure. He also cut my nails way down almost to the point they were sore. He also was pulling & popping my toes. For someone that has had foot surgery - that's a no go! My dip / SNS job was horrible though. The nails were extremely thin, not shiny and most of my nails broke in a week when they usually still look good condition three weeks later at places that know how to do dip correctly.
