Spaah is a fabulous place in town for waxing! I have been going every months for 6 months now, and I always have impeccable service. Shoutout to Caitlin for being accommodating and helping me feel relaxed! She's the best! As for some of the questionable reviews about the cleanliness of the facility, I think it's just an older building for one. I also think they are more eco-friendly and reuse (after washing, of course) towels, pillows, etc., so they may look a bit more "dingy" than a high scale spa. The service was 5 stars. Plenty of parking in the back, but it's a little bit confusing until you figure it out. They are open 10 am till 8 PM. I came early to hang out before my 10 AM massage but unfortunately they weren't open yet. The ambiance could be improved with black out curtains etc. The floors make it feel more like a public school. Fortunately none of that matters if your service is high quality. Mine was stellar. I have been a long-time client of Spaah for many years since it was located on Walnut. However, after the move, everything changed. During my visit on Saturday, the ambiance of the treatment rooms is just not the same. At the old location, the rooms were dark, with soothing music and a relaxing fragrance. They would also offer you a bottle of water. In contrast, the room I was in was bright, the music was not relaxing at all, and I noticed the smell of Chinese food or some other microwaved lunch, which I mentioned to Bianca. No water was offered to me when I came out from my massage, and when I asked for a bottle of water, the staff member said she would get it for me after she finished checking me out. However, she then proceeded to wish me a great day without bringing the water. I had to ask for water again. Considering the price had gone up, I would expect a complimentary bottle of water after my massage. There was no ambiance feeling in the whole place, it was more like a sterile doctor's office. I sure do miss the old place feeling. My massage therapist, Bianca, was great, and I would give her 5 stars. However, the place is missing the necessary ambiance, and I'm not sure if a new owner has taken over. I finally made time to check out the new Spaah location and well... I was unimpressed. The place felt sterile and cold. No soft lighting or warm decor throughout the place. I was shown to my massage room which was right by the front door and receptionist desk, not ideal, but I trusted it would stay quiet. But what I didn't expect was the see through curtains I was expected to change behind. I spent a couple minutes fiddling with that to ensure no one could see in. The room lights were left In the entire time I was face down, then turned off when I was face up. Did not like that one but as I came in for a migraine and was hoping for the quiet darkness would help. I told my massage therapist a few times about my headaches and yet, she barely even touched my hair line. That was the most disappointing I think. When the massage was over I rolled up to get dressed and was startled to see two blood marks on the table... was that from me??? No. It was old and dried and idk what it was but I took a picture. This was not how I wanted to end a massage. For a new location with good advertising, I'd think you'd want to show people the best of the best, but this felt the exact same as going to someone's small office for a massage. I called on Saturday to get an appointment and verify the value of my gift certificate. The lady on the phone was nice and accommodating. I scheduled my treatment for Monday afternoon. I received a reminder call from Jane on Sunday. Between Saturday and Monday the price changed again, even higher than what was quoted on Saturday. There was apparently no record of the person I talked to on Saturday. On Monday the older lady at the front desk was rude when I told her of my conversation on Saturday. Given the confusion over the value of the gift certificate I would not recommend anyone buy one of those. The young lady that performed my service was very nice and I tipped her. I made an appointment for the Brazilian waxing online. Caitlin worked with me. She was super nice and did not push me to have a conversation (as an introvert I appreciated it). However one thing I noticed right away, she did not change the towel on the table. May be they were changed right before me, but I always get the warm and fuzzy feeling when I see the fresh and clean towel laid in front of me. The job was done sloppy and hair was left in some areas. Plus she did not clean the very top of the bikini area. Apparently that is not considered a bikini area there. I have been getting a Brazilian wax in different places in Bloomington and all of them clean the whole bikinin area and around the belly button. When I was paying for the service, the lady at the reception asked out loud whether I was going to leave tip and the amount of tip. That is just straight unprofessional and bad service. I was appalled at my experience here. I received a deep tissue massage and upon walking into the massage room, the sheets were stained and had holes in them, the table was hardly padded and the padding stuck out of the disgusting sheets, the face hole for my massage was sheep's wool and smelled like one too many sweaty customers. On top of the extremely poor quality of everything in the room, the doors to the room are sliding glass doors which are only covered by curtains, some of which are see through!! As a young female this felt very concerning and frankly illegal. However, I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the massage therapist was very nice and the massage was decent. read more

My experience at Spaah was Ahhmazing! I have actually been here a few times before. I brought my entire bridal party for massages and mani/pedis before my wedding a few years ago. I have been working like crazy lately, my entire body hurt and I remembered I had a gift certificate for Spaah! I called on Sunday and they were able to book me for Monday!! When I walked in the woman at the counter already had my paperwork ready, moments later my therapist Judy came to get me. She was very nice and accommodating, to begin she placed a lightly scented towel over my eyes which i thought was lovely. I was pleasantly surprised that the lotion they used was scented, since usually its unscented unless you do aroma therapy. I loved the scent and it was very relaxing.Judy was wonderful, she is one of those therapists that makes an hour seem like so much longer, it was great. The only negative is they are located right off walnut and sometimes you can hear a loud vehicle go by. They do have relaxing music playing to help drown out outside noises. Walking in I had my doubts. I mean, the place is called "Spaah!" And the advertisements that drew me here were not really classy--more the kind of grainy photo that is typically reserved for shots of pad thai or curry dishes on the windows of Thai restaurants--so, it's hard to tell what I was really getting myself into. And they played Enya in the waiting room. But I was desperate. Top 5 reasons why you should visit this place: 1) You are from San Francisco and are coming to grips with the fact that you are in Bloomington, IN for the weekend; 2) You are staying at your sister's place and she owns 3 cats and you are not a cat person and you will have to sleep on your brother-in-law's old army cot in the same room with the 3 cats because little sisters always get the shaft; 3) Upon arrival at your sister's suburban tract house you are greeted by long lost relatives, as well as your sister's in-laws, who literally line up--some with documentation in hand!--to ask "the lawyer in the family" a few questions; 4) Number 3 lasts for 2 .75 hours, during which time your father (who is not a lawyer) is pacing back and forth behind you saying things like "I already told her that" after you've just espoused your impressive legalese (I thought throwin' in some Latin would put an end to this trist or at least amuse me--neither happened); 5) During the "legal consultations" you are called all of your family nicknames but they add on the "Esquire" moniker each and every time; poked, prodded and asked if "they feed you out there in California;" asked about "when you're gonna find a man to settle you down;" asked about all the gay people in San Francisco; and probably had about $6,000 worth of interest on your law school loans accrue during that time alone but had no offers to help you pay them back from any of your new "clients." I had a great first experience at Spaah! My therapist was Lisa for an hour long massage which made my body very happy. To start with, Spaah! has a very relaxing vibe right when you walk in. The floor is painted in a serene ocean kind of motif and there are huge windows in the reception area and gynormous plants. The place is very well laid out to promote quiet. Because I came in with a friend for the same service we were offered a single or double room. We chose to go by ourselves. The receptionist offered us beverages and they have a very nifty watercooler where you can choose, chilled, heated or room temperature water. After filling out a standard form, Lisa took me back to a massage room that was very tranquil with clothes hooks, a place to put my purse, and tribal sounding music. Lisa is very talented and massaged my whole body. She has a knack for communicating what position your body should be in without speaking. Whatever lotion/massage cream she used was perfect. It absorbed into my skin without making me feel like I should shower afterward from greasiness and yet allowed her to work my tissues without any snagging whatsoever. Also, the head support on the massage table seemed to be sprung which allowed me to lay comfortably on my chest despite having had difficulty with this in the past at other massage places. The three best things about my experience at Spaah! where: 1.) The lighting in the massage room was on a dimmer switch that the therapist thoughtfully adjusted lower when she entered and even lower before she had me flip over to face up. 2.) There was a mirror in the room so I could touch up after getting dressed without having to find a restroom. 3.) Lisa did a funky-cool thing where she let the weight of my head sink onto her fingertips in all the right places. So good! This is not your average strip mall day spa. Avoid getting anything waxed here at all costs. I would give a rating of no stars if it was an option. First, the esthetician was 20 minutes late, because she was just putzing around in back. I had to ask the receptionist to go look for her, because even she was clueless. I went in for a basic bikini wax, and walked out with holes in my skin. The "esthetician" first blamed it on me, asking me if I was sure I wasn't taking any acne medication. Of course I was sure; I wouldn't have lied on the intake form. She then proceeded to charge me the full amount, pretending like nothing happened. I should have spoken up and refused to pay, but I was too upset. I was looking forward to getting some of that pain worked out at my massage at Spaah!, but the experience was far better than I expected. When I walked in, they not only gave me a comfy place to wait for my massage, but they made sure that I was comfortable otherwise and brought me water. Pretty soon it was time for my massage, and my masseuse led me to nice room with relaxing, unoffensive music playing and a warm massage table. Not only did my masseuse do an excellent job of working the tension out of my muscles, but the atmosphere of the massage room completely relaxed me. I had been in touch with Donna, the owner/manager, to talk with her about a possible group discount, and Donna went out of her way to arrange a group discount for my group of four. Donna was even kind enough to stick to the original discount she and I had agreed upon, despite that one person in the group dropped out a few hours before our scheduled appointments! As far as our services, my two friends and I were very satisfied. We thought the masseuses and the estheticians paid very close attention to our personal preferences (like where we carry most of our tension/what type of skin we have). The staff was friendly but not overly welcoming, I had to ask questions to get information rather than them offering it. This continues in to the massage rooms- small and plain rooms. I still can't decide where my manicure got derailed. Here are the details. I called Spaah! Sunday afternoon and got in for an appointment that evening. Yes, that's right, they have Sunday evening hours. LIKE. Onsite parking. Hassle-free. LIKE. Nice reception. "Welcome, can I take your coat? Something to drink? Please fill out this customer information form..." LIKE, if you're into that sort of thing. I'm not, it feels forced. I really just like to be left alone. But that seems standoffish on my part, so we'll keep it under LIKE. Brand new manicurist tells me it's her first day. DISLIKE. Manicure took one hour and 45 minutes. DISLIKE. Sloppy French tips. DISLIKE. Sound effects of the owner cleaning and her dissatisfaction with the task. DISLIKE. A day and a half later, chipped nails. DISLIKE. I should have told the owner how unhappy I was with my manicure, but I almost felt guilty for being so disappointed with my experience. Ol' girl that did my nails was a single mother and all that jazz. I didn't want to be the bitch that ruined her chances at her new job 'cuz my tips weren't as tight as I wanted them to be in 30 minutes or less. Besides I paid for the pleasure of a crappy mani, so I should be afforded the comfort of not having to play esthetician evaluator while I'm still reeling from the repercussions of wrecked nails. In the end, this was really a problem with the manicurist. I wasn't thrilled to be her guinea pig, but shit happens. Maybe she was rusty or nervous. Maybe she's not even there anymore. I went here as part of a wedding party as a surprise treat for massages. I was actually having a ton of neck pain from the hotel bed, so it was totally a wonderful surprise. The spa is incredibly relaxing. I don't often get massages but the masseuse definitely helped me out. Before this, I was having trouble holding my neck up straight, and after I could actually use my neck like a normal person. I wish I had used more of their services. So I can't speak to those, but I'm going to buy my mother a gift card and I'll update if she uses it for more than just the massage. read more

I went to Spaah for the first time today for a prenatal massage, bikini wax, and pedicure. Finding a place that could fit me in with only one day's notice was a BIG plus! The masseuse, Lisa, was very professional and good at finding tense spots, but her touch was gentle. I wasn't sure if that was because it was a prenatal massage or because that's just how she does it, and I didn't complain, so maybe that was my fault. It was nice, but didn't have some of the fringe benefits of bigger spas (aromatherapy, scalp massage, candles/music, adjacent locker room or shower to cool down afterwards). Catlin did the wax and pedicure. It was my first time getting a bikini wax and she was very gentle. The process was relatively painless and she talked me through what to expect. Great experience! The pedicure took a long time and the smell in the tiny room bothered me. The two chairs were facing each other so it was a little awkward to keep locking eye contact with another client when I was trying to relax, but everyone was friendly so it was fine and my feet look good. Would have liked some fringe benefits like a hot towel or paraffin wax but again, for the price, it was a good deal. Pros: Great prices, open weekends, large menu, friendly staff, minimal wait times Cons: Facility leaves a bit to be desired (too bright lights, itchy robe, small rooms esp the pedicure room). I was actually unsure, based on the reviews, if I wanted to try this place out, but the other spas in town are either connected to a noisy hair salon or extremely expensive. That's one plus of this place, the prices are relatively affordable in comparison to a lot of other spas or spa services in this town. When I went, I had my eyebrows done, did the 1 hour "take a break" bath soak, and a 1 hour massage. The eyebrow service was just okay--not really any different or anything special from getting my eyebrows waxed elsewhere, although the lady who did them was very nice and easy to talk to. As soon as they left me for my bubble bath, however, I started getting into the spa experience. I absolutely ADORE jacuzzi baths and this one did not disappoint. Plus, you get an hour soaking in your choice of bubble bath or bath salts! Pretty good. I just kicked back and relaxed. Finally, the massage. This is where I was a little bit hesitant because most massages I'd had in the past (before my one at Spaah) were uncomfortable and not at all relaxing. This one was completely amazing. The masseuse talked to me beforehand about what I wanted: where to focus on, how much pressure to use, etc etc. She spoke a little bit during the massage but not conversational--only to ask if I needed adjustments and that sort of thing. And then she followed everything I said. Afterwards I felt amazing. Complete win! From what I can tell from the other reviews, this place is probably hit or miss depending on the staff you get. I'm booked for a second experience later this summer (pedicure, peel, bath, and body treatment) and I'm psyched to see how it goes. read more

Spaah! is the only place I've gone for a massage in Bloomington, and I'm not likely to go back. I've had two one-hour massages, and have been generally underwhelmed and disappointed with the quality of the masseuses. My first massage was with a masseuse who talked to me the whole time (which is frustrating: I like it to be quiet so I can completely relax, but I felt rude asking her to be quiet - maybe this is my fault?). The second massage was with a different masseuse who, despite my asking multiple times, didn't deliver on a deep-tissue/firm massage or emphasize the stressed/strained areas in my neck and back. Disappointing experiences, all around. In Spaah!'s defense: The prices are reasonable, and it's easy to get an appointment scheduled on short notice. They're open fairly late on the weekdays and also have weekend hours. Additionally, Spaah! is conveniently located downtown. The employees are friendly and accommodating. The massage rooms are adequately sized, well-insulated against outdoor sounds, and comfortable. read more
