My name is Joe D. I injured my lower back in the service in 1969. Seeking an alternative to…read moresurgery, I started chiropractic care in 1976. Due to the severity of the injury, I received adjustments almost every week until 2009. I considered chiropractic care great since it helped me live a fairly normal active live. I was able to exercise , play limited sports, bike and hike.I started to get a massage from Mary, prior to my weekly adjustment to aid the adjustment to the upper torso and neck. Mary inquired if I would be interested in SET, a program for which she was receiving instruction/training. We discussed SET on a couple of occasions and the protocol /possible results we very interesting. One of the conditions I was receiving weekly adjustments for was that my left leg seemed to drag which resulted in tripping on small rugs and the need to lift my left leg into my car. Hiking in the woods became a no-no, particularly climbing on down-fall and large rocks. I was amazed the massage was above my shoulders and the diagnostic protocol kind of 'neat'. After each session I was noticeably standing straighter and taller. Those little annoying aches and pains were subsiding and I had to learn to walk using my new strength and balance. After my third session, my wife noticed that I no longer needed to lift my left leg into the car. I could go on and on describing the wonderful results of SET--the proof is in the "pudding" My wife and I travel a lot. One of our trips was to Texas and New Mexico. We stopped at Guadalupe Natl. Park in Texas. We hiked to the top of Guadalupe Peak, 8749 ft (the highest point in Texas). We were 10 hours on the trail for a 2500 foot climb in 4 1/2 miles (9 mi round trip). Aside from being tired, we had no after affects from our walk. This may not seem significant to most people, let me share that I was 69 years old and had by pass surgery X4 in 1993. I could not have accomplished this hike without Mary's efforts and encouragement . PS my wife has also received SET sessions. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT SINCE I STARTED SET. After my initial sessions, I see Mary about every 3to 4 months for a "tune up" Mary,Thank you!

Amazing! Thank you! I've been here about four times and I love all the people I've seen! I'm more…read moreof a fly by the seat of my pants kinda gal and they've always been real accommodating for me! As a person living with chronic pain fascial pain and joint pain I require deep tissue massage And every person I've had has been acceptable! I would definitely recommend That's the Rub to anyone and everyone!

Some massage therapists are very knowledgeable and treat you based on what you want, while others…read moredo what they think is best without really listening to you. They also vary in timing, you can pay for 90 mins and some therapists will get done in 80, others 85, but never the full reserved time in my experience. Im not very outspoken so it sucks when you're paying $120 (not including the tip....) and leaving the place not completely happy/feeling relaxed. There are other spots in town that offer more consistent services (and for much more reasonable prices compared to here). One pro is that this establishment is more professional seeming (announce they're washing hands before/after, give you water and go over some at home exercises to do in between sessions), so not all terrible, just not worth it (imo) for the price. I've tried 4 different therapists here (in my 5 years living in Bloomington) and Tanya G seems to be their best (I never tried Amber but heard good things abut her). Lastly, this one is probably a minor "complaint" and totally not related to the therapists but in one of my last times I was there, as I was waiting to check out/pay, I overheard the front desk receptionist tell the lady in front of me "people typically tip 20%, thats what is usually acceptable" after the lady had said "ooh and tip too" and it made me feel inclined to tip over $20 on a not so great service to begin with (I used to tip $10 there). I don't love this recent culture of pressurizing customers to tip (especially when you're charging premium prices).

Shoutout to Caitlin for being accommodating and helping me feel relaxed! She's the best! As for some of the questionable reviews about the cleanliness of the facility, I think it's just an older building for one. I also think they are more eco-friendly and reuse (after washing, of course) towels, pillows, etc., so they may look a bit more "dingy" than a high scale spa. I have never been concerned with cleanliness at Spaah.

Ignored my request to not touch my feet as I need surgery on them for stretched ligaments. The masseuse grabbed me by my ankles and feet to manipulate my whole leg. My nerves in my feet have been buzzing ever since, so thanks for that. Not like I need them to walk or anything. It felt like she was trying to manipulate my bones instead of just rubbing my muscles like I wanted. (more like amateur physical therapy). She didn't seem to notice things like flinching and "Ow!" I'll never go back. The people were very friendly (which is why I'm not "naming names"), but I'm not letting them touch me again. And I'll warn all the people I know about it. Ignoring medical requests is DANGEROUS. EDIT: I would've rated 3, but after reading the owner's responses, I'm even more disappointed.
