I've gone to Spaah for a couple of manicures and pedicures. There are a lot of issues. First the services are way overpriced for Bloomington. Second they only have 20 colors, bad chairs, and e pedicure was done horribly. Then I was told that I can't wait to let my nails dry because they had to leave. The person that did my nails complained the entire time too which i guess is good for people who like complainers. Go to another salon, at least you won't feel bad about the experience. I've also had a massage but he guy talked to me the entire hour. I stopped going. I've also had a facial and got to listen to the people at the desk complain. All in all go somewhere else. read more

I am definitely pleased with the manicure I got today! The manicurist did a wonderful job (my nails are shaped exactly the way I wanted and the polish is even and nice) and the price was really not bad, especially considering all the work she did. Since I just got it done today I unfortunately can't comment on the durability of the polish, but it looks lovely. Plus, I was one of the day's last appointments and the manicurist and other staff were all friendly and patient even though I knew they were probably wanting to close up the store. I'll be returning here the next time I want to get my nails done :) read more

My wife purchased a gift certificate so that I could try this place out. I made an online reservation for a combination Deep Tissue and Cranial Sacral. After encountering a problem with the online system and having to re-schedule the massage, I showed up and was led to the back. My masseuse told me that she does not do Deep Tissue and argued that it causes bruising (they advertise it as a service on their site). I told her I also wanted a Cranial Sacral. She nodded and then proceeded to give me a standard full-body Swedish massage. It was one of the more unremarkable massages I have ever received - I stood up after an hour feeling as sore as when I laid down. I strongly advise against wasting your money at this place - Mira or even IU Health Center are better. read more

I have had good experiences here in the past, but today was a huge disappointment. When I called to ask, I was told their mini facial was nearly identical in terms of benefit to the skin, just shorter--mostly skipping the massage aspects. What I got upon arrival was a 15 minute moisture mask and a 15 minute scalp and shoulder massage. Not a single extraction, which I had specifically asked about. I left with greasy hair and visible blackheads on my chin. What a waste of time and money. I could have spent 30 minutes rubbing lotion into my own face. Excellent place. The couples package was great, and our massages were wonderful. The masseuse treated my injured elbow with care and made it feel better. The owner even sewed a button back onto a shirt for us after it popped off before we went out to dinner. Great experience all around. read more

I won't be returning to Spaah. I had a gift certificate for a massage and mani pedi. The massage was pretty good, but the facilities there are so lack luster, it is not relaxing. The not very cute bathroom was dirty, and the whole building was so cold because it was January and the building doesn't seem to be well insulated. My manicurist/pedicurist was late, and reeked of cigarettes. Throughout my manicure I could hear the desk staff gossiping-- also not relaxing. There is no relaxing place to wait for your nails to dry, so I had to sit in the lobby to let my fingers and toes dry-- where an old man tried to strike up a conversation with me, not to mention my toes were freezing in my flip flops. So I ruined my manicure and pedicure by putting my shoes on before everything was dry, just so I could get out of there faster. Overall, not relaxing atmosphere, poor facilities, and unprofessional service by the manicurist. read more

The staff was very nice. My friend and I had a couples package. the environment itself wasn't Spa like. We had to walk from the tub through the reception area to our room with our robes on. The stawberries, roses and tub were very nice. The massages were good HOWEVER the gentlman whom did my massage had EXTREMLY bad body odor. and sniffed and coughed the whole time. He asked if I wanted a full body, I told him yes and I opnly got my back side done. The stnch in the room was pretty bad. I doubt I would go back or recommend because of this. read more

This review is for a massage I received in March 2010 from a massuese named A. First, she didn't listen to my needs when I told her where I was stressed and feeling tension. She was stand-offish and aloof and where I asked for a deep tissue type feeling, she was extremely light-handed. I originally came here because I was given a gift card. Unfortunately a cranky toddler, in-laws visiting, and a lack of knowing where I was going led me to be 10-15 min late. The staff at Spaah took it all in stride and were very polite. The facial was wonderfully relaxing and made my skin feel great. The massage was a little on the light-side for my taste, but the lotion used was fantastic. My whole body felt so smooth afterwards. read more

This review is strictly for their massage services. I have been twice and both times were extremely disappointing. I specifically told them I wanted a deep tissue massage, and to focus on my shoulders/neck, and lower back. Both times it was if the massage therapist (I use that term loosely here) ignored my comments and avoided those areas. If you like a lame massage where the person just slathers you in oil and pets you, then Spaah may be your place. But if you want a real massage for the same amount of money, go to That's The Rub. Spaah is a waste of money and I will not be going back. read more

do NOT go here for a pedicure. The girl that I had was clueless as to how to soak off gel polish so I spent the first 35 minutes trying to instruct her. It was torture. She then proceeded to have issues with the drain and pulled out the entire thing to try to fix it....they don't even wrap their pedi bowls with the sanitary covers. Once the drain was back together she filled it with COLD WATER.....so much for a relaxing bubbly pedi. After 45 minutes of this I told her to forget it and just change my polish. 3 days later and it is chipped off. It was a nightmare and they have a VERY SMALL selection of polish. read more

I could not have been less impressed with Spaah in Bloomington. First of all, I have had many experiences in high end spa's prior to my visit to Spaah, that have provided excellent service and accommodated clients in everyday possible, as any Spa should.When I walked in the doors, I anticipated the same service considering the prices are comparable to high end spas, perhaps maybe a $10-20 difference at most. But I would have sacrificed the extra cash if I had known what my "relaxation day" would have been so negative at this location.When I walked in, I was hardly even greeted by the receptionist, as she was too busy laughing loudly with a co-worker about their periods ( yeah not the type of conversation you'd like to hear). Not only was I basically ignored by the staff, but she did not even offer me a beverage, or seem interested what so ever. I had to ask her for a glass of water, and never even received it until my facialist personally had to get me a glass after asking TWICE! This should have been my first clue to get out. The facialist I admit was extremely nice, however lacked any specialized training obviously. The facial room itself was like nothing I had ever experienced, typically Spa's have warm, dimmed rooms, with relaxing music playing. The Spahh facial room was bright blue, completely lit by natural light with 2 beds side by side. But these were not comfy, lush spa beds, they felt more like concrete with no heating source, I was freezing. Then the women came in and asked if I would like a heating pad...A HEATING PAD?! I wasn't aware that my $70 service came with an optional source of comfort. So not impressed. I decided to bite my tongue and go through with it, as my service was previously charged before the facial. But of course another glitch. THERE WAS NO STEAM! Please someone explain, how can any spa offer a facial service without a brief steam to open the pores properly, especially for extractions!? The remainder of my service was nothing short of terrible, the water was luke warm, at points even cold. I had to ask her to reheat the water in the sink behind her. As I was sitting there, extremely dissatisfied, I attempted to make the best of it, waiting for the massage portion of the facial. Needless to say, this too did not meet even the most discerning clienteles expectations. Basically I received a head scratch. I left Spaah completely irritated and began my day in a negative mood because of it. I should have demanded my money back, I legitimately felt scammed. In the previous comments it seems the owner of Spaah values her business, however I think she needs to be present during operating hours, because the staff is ruining her brand recognition and company all around. I have previously been to Mardon Salon on Kirkwood, also known as Aveda, the prices are practically identical with completely opposite experiences. I have always been loyal to Mardon Salon, but decided to try out Spaah to experience the other services available in Bloomington. NEVER AGIN! I caution anyone who books with Spaah to anticipate medicare service with untrained non-professionals. read more

I came here for a deep tissue massage, which turned out to be a waste of time and money. I have a lot of tightness in my deep hip rotating muscles and just my hips in general, which I was hoping would be improved through a massage. My masseuse flat out told me she would work on my backside the whole time and failed to ask me about any of my specific needs. I cut in to ask her if she could target my hip rotators, and she told me that she "doesn't do work on that area" and offered to massage the fronts of my legs (which wouldn't help my hips whatsoever). This was very upsetting to me as my hips were really the only reason I went to get a deep tissue massage in the first place. I think it's pretty reasonable to expect a masseuse, especially one who's doing a deep tissue massage, to be able to work on a specific area of your body at your request, but I guess I was wrong since the woman not only didn't ask me about my specific needs at all but also couldn't even work on the area of my body that needed to be worked on. I didn't really know what to do, so I reluctantly let the appointment continue, still in dismay. Things didn't get much better from here. The massage was not deep tissue at all. All the woman did was rub smelly cream on me and massage my body with light pressure. A good amount of the time I didn't feel anything at all, which is not at all how a deep tissue massage should be. I'll admit it felt decent when she massaged my shoulders, but once again, it was nothing special and was very surface level. The same effect could've been produced by a random person off the street, a massage chair, or even a foam roller. She spent maybe five minutes doing the fronts of my legs, which was once again just rubbing cream on them with light pressure. It felt like half the time that she was supposed to be doing the fronts of my legs, she was just rubbing cream on my feet. Yeah, that'll totally help with my hips. The massage ended, leaving me feeling extremely dissatisfied and ripped off. As I write this, I still have the same hip tightness, so i guess I'll have to resort to buying a tennis ball and using it to massage my hips by myself, since I don't have the time or money right now to find a better place to get a massage. Overall, if you want a truly deep tissue massage or you want the masseuse to cater to your specific needs, don't bother coming here. read more
