I really loved my first visit to HIGTE! They're very dog friendly, which I always love! My pup enjoyed sniffing around the cute gravel patio area. I would've considered sitting outside if there had been little bistro tables out there and perhaps better shade coverage (maybe one or two of those triangle shade sails?). I hope they consider adding some tables and shades that still match their streamlined aesthetic. With that said, I was super elated to find out that my pup could sit inside with me, as I wanted to get some laptop work done in the cool interior space. Service staff was very friendly. Since it was later in the day, I was already plenty caffeinated. But I wanted a sweet afternoon treat, so I ordered a decaf iced vanilla latte and added a cream top. Delicious! I didn't want my sipping experience to end! The price was definitely steep, so this would never be my everyday go-to coffee spot, but I treated it as just that--a treat. I also shared a chocolate chip cookie with my coworker. It was yummy too. All of the items I recall seeing at the counter looked like sweets. So they could possibly benefit from a few savory options, maybe even a little premade sando? All in all, I thought that HIGTE was chic; they earned big extra points for dog friendliness; and it's a welcome addition to the area. I will absolutely be back with more friends in tow! read more

There were some " please take your drink and leave" vibes when I walked in and interacted with the cashiers. I caught eyes that scanned me up and down immediately when I walked in. I stuck around to observe and see if I was wrong about my experience. They were very friendly and smiling at other customers and other coworkers. Very different when interacting with me. This business is aesthetically pleasing. If you are going to pay a visit find a seat outside. The beverages are pricey as an espresso shot costs $4.50. At the time of my visit there were about 6 guests ahead of me and after I ordered I would say the line was about 10 groups deep. Right after ordering my drink was made in a minute or two. As I was in line I did notice quite a few people with pastries that they barely even touched and tossed in the trash. They did convince me to just partake in only a beverage. Both beverages I ordered were served in glass cups and had larger cocktail ice cubes. Chia Latte w/Almond Milk- 4/10 (It is very spice forward. Every sip still didn't sit right with my tastebuds. This drink was $8 plus another $1 for the milk alternative for about 8-10oz.) Vanilla Latte w/ Almond Milk- 5/10 (Nothing out of the ordinary. It tasted like an ordinary vanilla latte. Amazingly designed space. It used to be an old dry cleaners built in the 50s and they converted it into a modern coffee shop so the vibes are impeccable. Service was terrible though all the baristas act like how they look. If you want a solid cup of coffee and don't care for aesthetics you can miss this place. Not sure what the haters are smoking, but I'd be in trouble if I lived near by How's It Going to End. Cortado 10/10. Decor is minimalistic and the vibes are high. Cute place to catch up with a friend, enjoy a cup solo or work on your laptop. The garden / outdoor sitting area gives major zen. Wish more spots like this existed in LA. read more

This spot in montrose was so cute and vibey. This area needed a cute trendy spot like this. I loved how the drink didn't taste artificial and it was very tasty. The drinks have no addictive extra sugars like Starbucks. The only sweetener they have is vanilla which they make. If you like sweet drinks like me I would tell them to add an extra splash of their vanilla sweetener which is what I did. I ordered the iced vanilla matcha latte which was very delicious. The interior and exterior design is amazing. I love the mid century vibes preserved from the previous business (dry cleaners) and how nondescript it looks from the outside, lending it a real hidden local gem feel. But I wish the coffee were better. The location is great, walkable from Montrose restaurants and shops or on the way to the freeway if you're looking for a jolt of caffeine to / from work. But guys, the espresso drinks we got were just mid. They weren't bad, but the milk foam was not that foamy, and the espresso flavor was very weak in everything we ordered: latte, macchiato, cortado. The chocolate croissant was the best thing we ordered. I hope to come back and be pleasantly surprised that the barista game has been upped, but until then, this place looks great and is still working on living up to its very hip image. read more

Came for their soft open back in April and was smitten from the start. The space is MCM perfection, the owner and staff are friendly, and they make great beverages. The chai latte is very gingery and lovely. Their espresso is well balanced and delicious. Their matcha latte is lightly sweetened, just how I like it. They have a rotating array of baked goods, and if they ever get that seasonal kumquat carrot cake back again I'll buy it all up in a heartbeat. I will say it's a good thing I only come here when I'm on vacation because otherwise I'd go broke on $10 daily drinks... but as a treat it's the best. read more

This place is a hidden gem! I wasn't sure where it was at first since there was no clear sign, but it is in the building that has the laundry sign. Came here on at noon on Wednesday, and it was busy! We ordered a Matcha Latte and a Chai Latte. Matcha: 5/5 the drink is not too sweet and has a grassy and slightly bitter taste. Will definitely order it next time I am back here! Stopped here after a recent trip to Descanso Garden and enjoyed a very nice cup of coffee. The shop is located in an old Regal Cleaners building and there is no signage that this was a coffee shop, but I'm glad we found parking and walked across the street to investigate further. Confused about the good reviews to be honest. Im a content creator for various coffee shops in LA and after talking to the cashier I told myself they don't even deserve me posting about them. My friend and I walked in and the cashier just stared at us with no hello or anything while we had a smile on our faces. He then said are u ready??? With attitude. I asked a few questions about which coffee is popular and what's sweet or not and another girl cashier came in with even more attitude. They respond to you like you're annoying them. I asked for a sweetish coffee, what I got was sour and disgusting. We had to throw it away and go to get coffee from somewhere else. Ambiance is ok. The space is open but weirdly felt like they didn't utilize it properly & there were few tables & chairs inside. The outside setting felt awkward & you can't really chat with a group of you since the benches are facing one side. Most of you would have to stand up if that makes sense. It was also dusty as they get busy during the weekends so more seats inside would have been better. The most disappointing part is their drinks. We got two different lattes and boy were they either diluted or bland? It was sour and just oddly tasting. Like someone there decided to charge $8 for a watery drink? I'm not sure how they ruined it so bad lol but it was also very expensive. The 4/5stars reviews here must be their family or friends because there is no way anyone would think their drinks were even remotely GOOD at all. The staff were friendly although we felt rushed getting our order. Overall it was not the greatest experience and we won't be back. so sad to write this review but it's in hopes that they work the kinks out and get back to making awesome coffee. I love the location and thankful that they exist. That being said the coffee has been going down hill for a while now. I recently got a cortado with oat milk and it was undrinkable. The milk tasted horribly sour, and the drink itself was barely lukewarm. It was such a disappointment as it was not busy so not sure why it was prepared so haphazardly. Beautiful aesthetics, bright and lively, breezeblocks and succulents, love their glassware if you're going to stay a while, but i'm a bit disappointed at the lack of alt milk options (they only do oat, no almond). My partner's coffee was a bit watered down, and I was a little bummed at the oat milk latte (oat can be a little oily/filmy), but it's a beautiful cafe and I hope they continue to grow and expand the menu. read more

Just visited for the first time since they opened. I was pleasantly surprised to see they added some baked goods to go with their coffees since that was not originally available at the beginning. My latte was delicious!! Given the busyness of a Thursday morning, I would have appreciated more tables and chairs. Many customers (myself included) used the landscape rocks to sit on. read more

This place is really cute but they don't really have too many options to choose from flavor wise. I tried the matcha and it was great. It tasted like a ceremonial grade and I loved it. However, we got the vanilla latte and it was soooo sour. We first got the decaf version and it was completely undrinkable. We took it back and they said the decaf can have a weird taste (which I've never heard of before) so we got regular coffee instead. Even with the change, it was still super sour!!
