Our homeowners that were behind in their dues were personally contacted in a gracious way & worked out payment plans that caught a lot of the homeowners up without having to go through a lawyer to collect funds. We got our properties getting new roofs & helping repair things that had been neglected for quite while! I usually do not write reviews however this company has been awful to work with. Our neighborhood changed HOA management companies and I was doing recurring monthly payments through my bank to Houston HOA Management. I was not aware of the change in HOA companies (the new HOA was given the wrong email address for me). I had 2 months of payments that went through until I was notified by a letter in the mail from the new HOA company stating that I was behind on payments. I reached out to Houston HOA Management and have been trying to get this resolved but they are either not available when I call or do not respond to emails. On one occasion, I called to talk to Florence since I had been emailing back and forth with her and never heard back. While I was on hold waiting to speak with her, she sent me an email instead and would not talk to me on the phone. I was sent my statements which showed that I had a late fee since the HOA monthly dues increased. I had forgotten about this after the holidays since they sent the letter in December and dues increased in February. It would have been nice to send a letter or email reminding me instead of giving me a late fee without letting me know. I have called each day to get everything resolved so that I can get caught up on my outstanding balance with the new HOA management and no one will talk to me. I wanted to verify that the check was sent to the new HOA management company since they said they still haven't received it and to also discuss the late fee. It doesn't seem like a hard request but now I received another EMAIL saying that they are no longer my HOA company and that I need to discuss this with the new management company. My issues/ questions are with Houston HOA Management- not the new HOA company. I tried calling Houston HOA Management after I received that email and once again, no one was available to talk to me. I do not recommend this company and will be reporting them to the BBB. read more

They have never resolved a single issue we've had. Years have passed and the gate that they own and manage on our property still uses non-commercial grade keypads that break every single time it rains. These keypads are $16 on Amazon and are only water resistant, not water proof causing them to malfunction every time it rains. We have not been able to receive packages inside the gate or use the keypads to enter or exit our property for 2 months now. No one has even come out to look at resolving the issue. 0/10 experience. If there was an option to give 0 stars, I would. This is a trusted review. Tara has not provided transparency to our community. She continues to side with the board and say, "her hands are tied" yet she forgets, it's the home owners paying for her services and not the 3 to 5 board members. For about 6 months, Houston HOA did not send out any communication to us until multiple home owners complained about the low water pressure issue. Yes, this was a natural disaster and yes, they did try to reach out to CoH, however, she was unable to resolve anything. So, what's the point of paying for them? She just blamed the CoH and told us we need to reach out to CoH on our own. She never took the extra step to check how bad the situation was, just checked the box and sent a note to the CoH. Next, we had months of sporadic trash pick up from our trash vendor. First she stated the trash company was unable to meet the scheduled routes due to resourcing issues and then she said our home owners have caused issues. As a home owner, I just kept hearing conflicting stories. This company is very expensive for the minimal help it has provided. In a recent meeting, all home owner attendees were muted and then dropped from the call after waiting for 30 mins, claiming "technical issues" - yet none of this was recorded in the meetings minutes. Just because documents are available on their portal, it doesn't mean it is transparent. The information has to be the truth! If you have read this much, I urge you to stay away from them. We are unable to enjoy our holidays because our HOA monthly fee is about to double again. Also, for a company that claims, "we are not decision makers" and "follow the board's order" -- do you really want this type of management? Owners should want a company that operates for the community and not just the board. It's ridiculous! read more

HOA thought it was a good idea to install harsh speed bumps without consulting the paying community members for input or concerns. the speed bumps don't allow safe movement for ADA wheel chairs members or mothers with strollers due to not having side walks on our only road in and out of the community @ Main Sycamore Dr. request have been filed for over year to add side walks or remove the speed bumps and have been pushed aside. no traffic/speed study was conducted to justify the install of the harsh speed bumps either. read more

Many of the positive reviews posted by people for this company are those directors who have paid Tara/Houston HOA to keep their unethical practices going. BEWARE - if your HOA is considering this management company, it is trying to hide shady practices of its directors. This company does not manage vendors, oversee your community, keep accurate books, or even provide expert knowledge (although it provides incorrect knowledge that leads to law suits). In 2 years, we have seen a representative of this property step on site once - at the very beginning of the contract. Our community has had more destruction of property, criminal incidents, and mismanagement of funds (ex. a vendor charging over $2000 for changing light bulbs!) since Houston HOA has taken over. We are having this company investigated by Houston's city attorney as it is perpetuating fraudulent practices and is opening up the association to litigation needlessly. BEWARE - MOVE ON AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! ****UPDATE (after reading response from the owner, Tara):******* One of the things about this owner is that she does not have a good grasp of the law. She is constantly getting things wrong, and those errors will cause your association money. In terms of investigation - please look up Tara and Houston HOA's records in HPD - there are multiple police reports filed against the company and make your own judgement. In terms of books being clean - Houston HOA overlooked multiple discrepancies seen in the one and only audit report the association has provided since she was in charge. For example, there was a $2 MILLION account statement that was part of a report, highlighted in yellow, that she missed for over 6 months (http://en.berkleycourt.com/2023/01/24/unaudited-financial-statements/)! Additionally, there were multiple law suits ongoing with the association (she herself references one in her response!!!), and the audited report states there are no legal suits pending for the association. Also, please note that the lightbulbs she references costs $8000+ to change - used to be, by all reports, included in the service fee for a porter at no additional charge!!! When Houston HOA Management first pitched our board, our HOA has cash strapped. Their solution was to canvas the subdivision looking for deed restrictions and collect fines. This suggestion prompted red flags. Our HOA had lost credibility with most homeowners and as I saw it, imposing fines would only pour gasoline on a fire. Initially, I was pleasantly surprised with the level of service. Tara for one was easy to reach. She did a great job of solving problems. Now though, the firm has many more clients, and this type of service is hard to come by. Instead of reaching Tara with concerns, I am directed to a website where I am free to leave a request for service or other concerns. For six months, I've been assured a damaged water meter lid would be replaced. To this day nothing has been done, and water can collect in the sump leaving the meter impossible to read. That personalized service I found so surprising a year ago no longer exists. Such is the price of growth. I cannot in conscience recommend this management company. Check their Yelp rating. It's barely a "C" level. You can and should strive to do better. read more

Our HOA board hired Tara and her company for our 20 house community. We took over after the builder gave up the HOA and hired Houston HOA Management to help make the transition. Tara has been very helpful and responsive in getting us started the right way. She has been available for the board consistently. Their online portal has a convenient feature for residents to submit issues as well. So far so good! read more

Houston HOA Management Company came highly recommended from another community in the Heights. We are amazed in such a short time all the items that were accomplished by Tara and her team at Houston HOA Management. If you have an issue and email or call Tara she will respond to you within the hour. I DON'T know of another company with that quick of a response time. This management company is horrible. They do not talk to residents of the community. They pile on ridiculous violations and do not mark them as resolved when they are resolved. If you do not live nearby then they are even worse because they can go to the community and find the violations but they won't go to the community to resolve the violations. I just talked to someone that would not give me her name and she said she doesn't even know when the board meets or how I can contact them. They also do not have a specific point person for each community so no one person knows what is going on when there is an issue with the community or a specific unit. They also refuse to fix my mailbox that is part of a cluster box and are trying to blame my previous tenant for the issue when he did not do it. They do not have any meeting minutes online for the residents/owners to look at so we know what is going on with our community and there is also no budget posted so we have no idea how our money is being spent. They are trying to charge me for violations when there is nothing in our bylaws that allows that and they do not give enough time to remedy the problems. Basically this company is awful and after reading some other one star reviews, I see others are getting this treatment as well. read more

Houston HOA mgmt (Tara) has been a lifesaver from our previous management company. I am a current board member that truly appreciates their knowledge and efforts. Tara has been very responsive to our needs. She always returns my calls and emails within 24 hrs (actually it's usually immediately) and never hesitates to answer my emails and questions even on weekends. 1) During onboarding our accounting method was changed, without Board vote, from Accrual Basis to Cash Basis. Even our auditing firm stated this was a very unusual method for an HOA. To the layman this may not be meaningful but to those who understand financial statements the consequences of this decision have been significant. It took well over a year of effort to get monthly financial statements that even came close to properly describe our finances but even today, after two years, they fall short. I am forced to file document production requests every single month just to obtain information that would normally be presented via an Accrual Based accounting method. 2) Tara Hirsch has unequivocally stated her company did not authorize or participate in the towing of vehicles from our property despite unambiguous information on an actual tow receipt stating one of her employees authorized the tow. The circumstances around the tow seem to violate Texas Property Code. No, my vehicles were not involved so I was not harmed and have no real dog in the fight but just want to state facts and give others the benefit of information. 3) I was denied access to the HOA web portal after I submitted information demonstrating our HOA was underbilling homeowners for electrical services by roughly 66%. My request was closed several times without comment and I kept asking why. After about the 5th or 6threquest my portal account was disabled and I was denied access to services granted to other homeowners. The billing issue was corrected the next day. Facts are not slander. There are many property management companies out there and in my opinion there are better choices than Houston HOA Management, LLC. ** Update1 - The cease and desist letter was legally unenforceable. It was a scare tactic. In fact there has been a significant amount of communication since that letter. Harassment is *NOT* speech you don't like or don't want to engage in. In fact, according to Texas Penal Code 42.07 harassment is defined as "A person commits an offense if, with intent to harass, annoy, alarm, abuse, torment, or embarrass another, the person: ..." My goal was to obtain information related to the significant underbilling of homeowner's that, if not corrected, would result in financial loss to the HOA. I caught the problem very soon after a PUC legal case regarding electrical billing wherein I prevailed in court. PUC docket #49429 for anyone who would like to verify my claim. Again, the electrical billing issue as mentioned in item #3 was corrected the next day. read more

Owners are rude and short with home owners. Only job they accomplish is to allow the HOA board to accomplish whatever they want with impunity and lack of input from the neighborhood as a whole. When confronted with blatant deed restriction violations via email the owner was rude and dismissive. Spoke down to me and insinuated that I was stupid and was unfamiliar with HOA bylaws and legislative procedures. read more
