My ASUS laptop's DC power jack broke and I needed it desoldered and a new one soldered on. Kevin was the only person in town that accepted the work. After getting it back everything works great. His prices were very reasonable ($85/hour) and he charged exactly what I would have when I was a repair tech a few years ago (2 hours). He got a good quality jack and didn't overcharge for it or the shipping on it. He also offered to install additional RAM while he had the computer open and I took him up on the offer. The RAM cost was about what you'd find on Newegg. He also retrieved a screw I had lost under the motherboard when I ineptly opened it to determine what was wrong, put in all the screws I had removed and not put back when closing it back up, and put back in my HD which I had removed and put in a USB external enclosure. Putting back in the loose screws was probably a pain and if it were me I would have charged at least a half hour more for that. Besides the price, he had great service. He's open on Saturdays, which was nice. He promptly returned texts to/from what I assume was his personal cell number. Most of all he put up with my daily calls to see if the part was in. My hardrive crashed and I really needed to retrieve some documents but unfortunately it wasn't possible so I took it over to Kevin at Houston Computer help. He was very gracious at explaining IT terms to non teki person to my understanding and recommended a recovery service. I will be back. read more

Executive Summary: Super nice guy, who knew there were so many viruses from visiting virus sites? I have an HP Pavilion laptop that works fine but has been incredibly slow over the past few months. It has Windows 7 so I preferred to keep it rather than try my luck with a new computer with Windows 8. I took it in and Kevin listened to my issues and then showed me how much resources were being consumed. He cleaned it up, removed a bunch of viruses that apparently got past my Kaspersky, and had it back to me within four days. The computer works much better now and I don't have to deal with the hassle of getting a new laptop. Great job! read more

Great guy! Took his time explain the computer issues and gave me recommendations, since im an idiot when it comes to computers, he made me feel at ease, and to me very very inexpensive. NO CHARGE to look at your computer, the surrounding competitors Data Doctors charged $59, two others I called near Rice Village charged around $120 just to inspect the computer. First time computer builder. After calling a few different places that seemed somewhat reluctant to help I stumbled upon Houston computer help and was pleasantly surprised. Kevin was extremely helpful from the moment I first called, to going above and beyond after my computer was fixed. My external hard drive has been corrupted for about a year and I finally took it in to get looked at. I stopped by HCH on a whim and am so grateful to have found this gem! Kevin was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Due to the nature of my problem I had to leave my external hard drive so that Kevin could try to rescue my data. He was a proactive communicator and called to update me with the status and wait time of my data transfer. Bonus points -- he was able to transfer all of my data to the new external hard drive! At first I had high hopes for this place. I walk in and the place looks great but by time I'm supposed to pick up my computer, I'm having the worse experience. After the guy gives my computer he tells me he doesn't accept credit cards. So that already made me a little upset and now I am waiting outside the shop at 11:30 and no one is here! ! I am a student and I need this computer to do my work. The place is supposed to open at 10. And it's a Thursday. I called and no one is answering. I drove all the way out here for nothing. read more

. If you are frustrated with your current system and use it for clerical/business/networking purposes(not gaming), I suggest you come here before looking for a new machine. He will scrub out basically anything on your discs that impair performance. I came in a few times for malware and virus problems. They didn't stand a chance. He might question you (as he did me) like he works for the CDC - eager to suss out what's infecting peoples' machines nowadays. Very nice and intelligent guy. Replaced my internal hard drive quickly and helped recover most of my data. Even when it took more time than he anticipated to recover my data (due to my dying hard drive), he stuck to the quote he gave me, which was cheaper than any of the surrounding computer repair places. Kevin is amazing! He is extremely professional and extremely capable but more than that, he actually cares about the people he helps. He is kind, patient, explains everything in a way that makes it easy to understand, extremely reasonably priced, and has the best advice. On top of that, if he has one around, he is willing to loan you a computer for no added charge so you can continue working. This is good old-fashioned service at its absolute best. This is a dying breed: A neighborhood computer service center with walk-in hours, broad-based knowledge of hardware, software, and industry, friendly and fast, and fair (bordering on so low you wonder how he can stay in business) prices. I am not sure i can trust the person who works there. I spilled some water on my keyboard and it wasn't working properly. When i took it there, he was eager to change my keyboard, fortunately I had read on the internet that many people just leave it off for a couple of days and then once the water dries up it works. So I did and it works perfectly. If he was an honest person that's what he would suggest. read more
