I recently moved to the neighborhood with my deceptively strong 1.5 year old American Brittany. These dogs tend to be high strung (that's a euphemism for crazy) and I wanted to be sure I had a team that could handle it. Vivian and her team took the time to learn about my dog and have been super dependable and accommodating. They are good about last minute requests and always leave a note about the walk and alert me to any changes in my dog's behavior. I know it's hard to find a good dog walker because you can never really evaluate the work. All I know is that I come home and my pup is usually asleep or hanging out relaxed. That would not be the case if they were just shuffling him out to the sidewalk and then putting him back in the house. Also, Vivian's shop is good at working over email which I especially appreciate as my work enviornment does not accomodate text message or phone calls. Each sitter would leave notes behind to give me the play by play of their time with my kitty - such a small thing but so incredibly comforting to return home and know he was well taken care of. House Broken has been such a lifesaver! When we moved to Brooklyn our French Bulldog was confused and anxious, and having his group walks has been the perfect mix of exercise and socializing. Vivian and her staff took care of our cats while we were gone for 9 days last month (including christmas and new years). You may recall that this also involved that HUGE blizzard everyone is still talking about. Well, we had plans for friends to come into town and stay in our house to take care of our cats, but they got delayed, and thank goodness Vivian was able to step in and help us out. Housebroken is the BEST! I mean beyond the best. My dog, Bruno, has so many health problems and other special needs. He had a few critical health issues that have been impairing Bruno's mobility as well. Housebroken was very flexible, helpful, and supportive. One of health issue episodes occurred while a dog sitter was with my dog. Most definitely not the dog sitter's fault; it occurred because of my dog's congenital issues. Our sitter and the entire Housebroken team transported my dog to an ER and basically SAVED MY DOG'S LIFE. They are very flexible with scheduling as well. HouseBroken is a great business. We have had our cats watched by them when we go out of town several times now. They have a convenient website where you can schedule and cancel appointments. It's really convenient and helps me feel assured my kitties will be taken care of! They are responsive via email when we do have questions. I have had to email the same question more than once, so they might be the one thing that has room for improvement. But they generally get back within a day or two. And they always answer the phone. They're also really friendly. You leave out a notebook and the sitters leave little notes about how each visit went. One time we were gone for an extended time and they even sent us a picture of the two kitties, which is just so nice of them! Our cats always seem happy when we get back! read more

I cannot say enough good things about these incredibly kind women who graciously came into my new place, walked my dogs, dealt with their "issues" and always left with a thoughtful note about how the dogs behaved while they were together. They also provide excellent, last minute service. Since I do freelance work, it's much less stressful knowing my dogs are looked after even if I'm unable to plan days in advance. The walks are affordable, easy to schedule and consistent. Vivian also gets back to me within minutes whenever I e-mail or call. These guys are so great! We recently moved to crown heights with our pup, Winnie, and have been using their walking services intermittently for a few months now. They have been a total lifesaver for us, always available when we need them and scheduling walks is always a breeze, no matter how short-notice. Its really nice to work with a company so reliable and efficient, especially when it comes to taking care your pets! I recently had to stop home from work and ran into one of the walkers, Aaron, on his way to walk Winnie and she was just so happy to see him. Knowing that she is comfortable with him really put me at ease and makes me feel better about leaving her in the care of someone else. The walkers are great - kind, consistent and go the extra step to make Winnie (& us) happy. I always come home to a detailed post-walk note & a happy, well-exercised dog. I cannot speak highly enough of this company. I moved to Crown Heights a few months ago, and I have a really neurotic, nervous dog, who is generally terrified of everyone and everything in the city. Noises, strange people, construction vehicles, buses, etc. Even when I'm the one walking him, he's skittish. My regular walker, Aaron, must have the patience of a saint, because my dog now loves him, and their walks are (mostly) without issue. Other reviewers have mentioned this, but Aaron (or Brooke) leaves me a note after every walk letting me know how it went, and I got an email or phone call every day during the first week they were visiting my dog, which really demonstrated from the get-go that they were willing to go the extra mile in order to reassure me that my weird little animal was in good hands. On top of all that, they respond to every email and question I have almost immediately, and are super accommodating with changes to my payment requests (help with splitting my bill between two different credit cards, changing the day of the month that the bill is automatically withdrawn from my bank account, and making sure any credited walks are transferred to the next month). For my personal budget, it's a big bill to add to my monthly expenses, but my dog is happier and healthier, and I feel like Vivian, Aaron and Brooke really care about me and my little dude, so it's definitely money well spent. read more
