I used Colette's service for a few weeks when I injured myself and couldn't walk my pug in the mornings. i had a great experience with her. I asked her to walk my pug at 6:00am... Which is hella early, and she was game. She was very professional and had me fill out an assessment before she started services. My pug absolutely loved her! He would bounce out of bed every morning when she came in... This is a big thing for a very lazy pug who I sometimes have to literally pull out of bed. She showed up for all scheduled appointments and even helped me bring down trash a few times since I was on crutches and live on the 3rd floor of a walk up. I would give Collette 5 stars with NO hesitation, but she was a bit late a few mornings. Not a huge deal since she had keys to my apartment, but since it was so early in the morning it kind of messed with my morning schedule (I generally don't like being in the shower/getting ready when people are in my house). This was not at all a huge problem and overall she was very reliable. All in all I would TOTALLY recommend this service! I will use them for boarding as well if my regular service is not available. read more

Collette is the best! She's been walking and taking care of my Peke, Moby, since early this year. He loves her, and always walks for her (he's a stubborn Peke, he won't walk sometimes!). She's reliable, attentive, cares about Moby, and has helped me out when I was stuck at work and needed help. She's adapted the walk routine was he was sick, and instead, stopped by to let him out and to keep him company. She's also done day care, boarding...and even checked on Moby when he was sick! Colette was able to step in at short notice and make sure our two dogs were well taken care of. Colette is absolutely fantastic. She has taken care of our pup on twice now and both times everything was wonderful. She came and picked the dog up and dropped her off when we got back in town. During our time away the second time our pup had some digestive issues, but Colette added some rice to her diet and helped her feel a bit better until we got back. We have been using PAWS Authority for a year now and absolutely LOVE Colette! From the beginning she demonstrated sincere concern and patience for our dog Ming, who took a while to warm up to an outside person walking her. While other dog walking services in the area were less willing to put in the extra time, Colette remained dedicated to working with Ming and now has a GREAT rapport with her. I'm not yet a customer of NYC Paws Authority but the next time our dogs need anything I'll be calling Colette. Earlier today my husband and I met Colette by accident. We were stranded outside our vet's office with our very tired 16-year-old pitt. Our ride was delayed and 2 cabs had refused to take us with the dog. Colette had been at the vet as well taking (really good) care of another pup. When she saw us waiting she not only offered us a ride, but gave us a portable water bowl for our dog and filled it up. After a really bad day her kindness meant the world to us. Our ride finally came but just the offer - and the water- completely turned our mood around. I know this isn't a traditional review but having seen how Colette treats the dogs she cares for - and humans she doesn't even know, I can recommend her without hesitation. This is the perfect cat sitting service for me and my varmint. I'm so glad I found NYC Paws Authority. My cat can be a problem sometimes. He's really old now. He thinks everyone should recognize that he's the alpha cat. He needs lots of attention. But he's extremely shy around strangers and doesn't typically take to men -- like, at all. The first time I took a trip a few months after I adopted him, I left him in the care of a trusted neighbor and friend whom my previous cat had absolutely adored. After I was back home for a few minutes, I realized that my varmint had peed on my bed several times during my absence. Then I noticed that he had just taken a poop in one of the shoes that I had removed a few minutes after getting home, and he was in the process of pooping in my suitcase that I was just unpacking. Pretty clear message. Have you ever seen those really mean, hard, round, super angry cat poops? THOSE. This is not a cat who suffers in silence. I got rid of the mattress & bed linens, cleaned my shoes and suitcase, and kept the cat. I've had other sitters for him over the past 6 years, and there have been issues here and there. I adopted this cat when he was ten years old after his elderly female human died. I don't think he was around men much, given his aversion to them. So when Colette told me that her nephew James would be looking after my varmint, I was a bit worried -- but I decided to just go with it. I told her that my varmint didn't like men, but Colette told me that James was very good with cats. And I figured I could just get rid of my nice expensive mattress again, if need be. Know what? James IS very good with cats. And I mean REALLY GOOD. On his first visit he snapped a picture of him petting my varmint. WHAT?! When James had come over for a prelim visit, my cat wouldn't come out from behind a stack of boxes. But James had coaxed him out on his first visit and was giving him lots of attention. And he sent updates everyday, which very much mitigated my usual concern & worry and allowed me to concentrate on the purpose of my trip. This young man really knows his way around a problem cat. When I arrived back home my cat was calm, comfortable & secure. And my furniture was clean. I can't ask for more than that. I'm someone who loves my dog as if she were my child, and I've always hesitated to believe that anyone (outside of my family) would care for her with the love and attentiveness that I do. With a new job with longer hours, and a recent move, I needed to put my guard down. Colette was referred to me by a neighbor and she's absolutely the best! My dog gets so happy when she hears Colette coming to the door that she literally cries with excitement. Colette is completely trustworthy and always goes above and beyond, even bringing in my UPS packages and cleaning up my dog if she gets dirt on her after a walk. Colette is truly an animal lover, and she's very knowledgeable. I love the email updates and pictures she sends, particularly when I'm out of town. Despite the fact that she's so amazing, Colette quite conscientiously asks for constructive feedback. I honestly have no suggestions for improvement. I like to think of myself as a cat whisperer, but after meeting Colette last year, I realize I am a mere dilettante and she's the real thing. I have a 9-year old cat, Gomez, who has been a true scaredy cat ever since he was rescued in Red Hook. He used to run when he thought you might touch him and cower if you actually got your hands on him. But after spending two weeks in Colette's capable hands last year (and many more since,) he has become a huge mush. He's no lap cat, but he doesn't bolt anymore and he will sneak in next to me on the couch for cuddles. I don't know what she did - was it drugs? - but clearly she's the one. Colette and NY Paws Authority came to take care of our two elderly cats while we were away. It was complicated as they both had chronic health issues, my one cat is diabetic and the other was elderly with kidney insufficiency. On top of twice daily insulin shots and daily subcutaneous fluids, there were a number of pills to give. I was worried about leaving my cats in anyone's care but from the first meeting with Colette it was obvious that she was methodical and diligent and very good with animals. When I was away for almost 2 weeks Colette, at short notice, took care of the cats with love and competence. Her care included constant reports as to their well being and quick communication if there was confusion or questions. I left somewhat abruptly and forgot to leave some necessary items, including cat litter and paper towels and when this was brought to my attention, Colette graciously secured those for us without complaint. I can not recommend her care enough and I will not hesitate to work with her again the next time I have to travel. Thank you Colette! read more
