This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. After checking out the website, the story behind the restoration and the menu, it looked like my kind of restaurant. After eating here, I will not come back. We were 4 guests and chose to eat out on the patio at the House. When we were seated the tables were not set up, no table cloth, no place settings, completely bare. If you are considering the patio, be prepared to hear loud trucks and motorcycles driving by because the patio is about 20 feet from the road. The website gives the illusion this House and Barn are in some off the beaten path in a quiet field, (How I pictured it in my mind). When the waiter came over he wanted to give us the specials right away without first giving us water or asking if we wanted drinks. Finally when he asked what drinks we wanted, I had to ask if we could have place settings. Then he did bring water and place settings, napkins, forks & knives and a small plate. When the drinks arrived, the drinks were okay. A little while later the bread was served to the table. I ordered the Farm salad. It tasted okay but was put on such a small plate and piled too high for this plate that much of it was falling off the plate onto the ground, very frustrating. My wife ordered the arugula salad and it came with no dressing. I don't remember what the other two guests ordered for salads. For an entree (they call it BIG), I ordered the salmon which was kind of dry and plated with the salmon upside down, meaning the skin was on top. I've never had my salmon presented this way. My wife ordered the same salmon and came the same way. My two guests had chicken and tuna. Their impression was that the food was not very impressive. We did not order dessert. A side note. Maybe the management is not very involved because after we finished our meal, we were coming up the walkway to the parking lot on the side paved path. This is one way to get to the parking lot. One of our guests uses two canes to walk and was struggling. I had retrieved my car ahead of him and had it parked in front of the path waiting for my friend to get to the top of the path. While waiting, one of the people from the kitchen got his motor cycle and drove around between the grass and my car and drove down this narrow paved path and into the doorway of the kitchen area. After my guest finally got to the top, this person then drove his motorcycle down to the bottom right into the patio where guests were still eating. If one of my employees did this, he would have been fired. This should never be okay no matter what kind of restaurant it is. Perhaps if we sat inside the ambiance would have been different. We traveled about 20 minutes to get to the House & Barn. For all of us it was not worth the travel. If we were local, say 5 minutes away, I might consider going back for lunch if nothing else was available. My 2 stars was because for a place that presents on their website as an upscale and unique restaurant, we didn't get that kind of treatment or experience. It really felt much like a bare bones upscale restaurant. Meaning it had some of the effect but not the real thing. read more

Got the Kobe burger was $22 & tasted no different than the normal $15 beef, w/ fries $28!? Fries are horrible, cut thin like McDonalds and then and inch long. Can't even dip them in sauce without mashing your fingers in sauce more than the fries. Ambiance was awesome, def a good dinner date spot in door & outdoor. Go here once and done but regularly for the barn location next door tacos/bar open later. You are better off going to two rivers brewing in Easton for the value. Words cannot describe the out of this world culinary experience and amazing professional service at the house. We dined at the house! The food was delicious, atmosphere is beautiful! I do think the prices are very crazy high. It's all small plate dining which is great because you try several things- that said, the scallop selection was $17- it was ONE small scallop. The other selections were priced much the same at about $15 - $22 for a very small portion. They recommend 3-4 small plates per person which means you'll spend about $60 plus for a meal per person!!!!They didn't serve bread (we asked) and who doesn't want bread when ordering a bottle of wine? I would like to see a selection of entrees added to the menu as well. Overall- I think it's very overpriced and there are many great restaurants in the Lehigh valley with food and atmosphere just as good! First impression: Very nice atmosphere. Old rustic meets contemporary. The menu is very reasonably priced, and is a spectacular choice for a romantic night out with someone special. I was seated right away, though during busier hours, reservations may be recommended. The menu is simple, but there is something for everyone. The fixed prices per course makes it easy to order, and not be surprised by the bill. For beer/cocktail drinkers, you'll be very happy with the selection. There's a decent variety of craft, domestic, and imported beer. The bar area is not large, but there are several small tables nearby to sit. The menu has bar snacks that you won't find at your average bar. This was a welcomed surprise! I decided to start with the chilled pea soup. Great presentation. The portion was appropriate. The flavor was great! The bacon added just the right amount of salt and really filled out the rest of the soup. My main course was the Smoked Pig, which came recommended, and a side of smoked potato salad. The potato salad tasted fresh. It was spiced well, and balanced. I dislike when potato salad is too heavy in certain ingredients, like onion for example. This was perfect, and filling. The smoked pig was....well....it was heaven. I do not like pickles, but they made this sandwich. The pork is juicy and absolutely delicious. Wow. Maybe one of the best sandwiches I've eaten in my life. No joking around. It was amazing. We had an excellent late lunch/early dinner at the barn yesterday. We had intended to just get some drinks at the barn and move to the house for our meal but the barn was so comfortable that we decided to stay put. We sat at the bar, there were plenty of tables when we arrived but the place started to get busy with a near steady stream of people around 5, so make reservations or arrive early. The place still looks like a barn, all wood and exposed beams- its well decorated and comfortable. There is a small outside area strung with overhead lights- too cold for our visit but where I'd want to be in warm weather. The bar tenders were super busy but fast and attentive, I never once felt ignored and our orders arrived quickly despite a crowd from a private party downstairs. I had a delicious s'mores martini- house smoked vodka, rum chata, graham cracker crust-YUM! Not too sweet and well balanced w the alcohol. But the best was the Bloody Mary- house made garlic vodka (in a big vat on the bar), a spicy rim, house stuffed olives and a slice of bacon make this drink a near meal and probably best Mary I've ever had. The menu was limited to sandwiches, a few salads and some snacks but it was interesting - we started w the potato soup - light and delicious! I had an amazing BLT with the coleslaw, I'm not normally a slaw person but this stuff was great! My husband had the two hotdogs with the potato salad- both delicious. Portions were ample and we both brought home leftovers I had wanted to try this place out for awhile and it did not disappoint. The interesting menu is as delicious as it looks and the place lives up to the description on their website. Went for the first time today along with my coworkers. We can't say enough good things. The waitress was very knowledgeable and even went out of her way to get us information about the drinks and food (she even brought a couple samples of the different slaws). She also gave us a rundown of her favorites from the menu. We tried 4 of the cocktails, which are all unique. They were each very different from the others, but all were outstanding. Excellent blend of flavors. We shared an order of chips with the horseradish onion dip. The chips were your average store bought kettle chips, but the dip had a good flavor. Between the group, we ordered 5 of the 6 sandwiches they offer. The smoked potato salad was very fresh and tasty. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The House is a must go!!! We have been here many times. My wife and I did a little celebratory dinner after her recent promotion. We sat out on the back patio, which has a relaxing atmosphere. We told the waitress we were just gonna take our time, eat a little, and drink a little. We must have had 1 of everything on the small plates menu and each one did not disappoint-beautiful presentations and everything seasoned to perfection. Came here for my second time the other day for lunch. I was impressed with the vast variety of burgers. I had the ostrich burger which was very tasty it was complemented with just the perfect amount of avocado. I would definitely eat it again! I would love to see a better variety of appetizers on the menu. Their East Penn Restaurant Week special was awesome! The food was delicious and plated perfectly. The restaurant is beautiful, they did a great job restoring its historic charm. But I had to give it 4 stars for the service. We had to wait at the door before a hostess seated us (it was not full), we waited about 10 minutes before a server arrived at the table, and we waited about 15 minutes for our beer. Went to the House and Barn last night with a group of people to take our kids prom photos. Cindy the owners sister in law was just so accommodating to all the kids, parents & relatives. We all have gotten so many compliments on our pictures thanks to the beautiful atmosphere (down stairs, outside, pretty much everywhere). Once the kids left for prom the parents had dinner and drinks up in the loft which was equally as nice. The wait staff was so nice and attentive, food amazing! One of the best meals I have ever had! From start to finish, it was impeccable. The service was excellent, the pace at which things were served was spot on, and obviously the food was delicious. We have started, as of the end of this spring, to make our visits more seldom. This past visit assured us that we have experienced a very good restaurant for food, service, and a relaxing atmosphere change into one more place we will not be visiting as a guest any longer. This last visit the Cuisine, Beef and the Scallops were not of the quality I expect at those prices. The dessert was actually old tasting. The drinks were excellent as usual. They changed the format of this formerly fine dining restaurant to an upscale burger joint. During Covid want to support local so we gave it a try. Atmosphere gets 5 stars. Adorable. We ate outside and enjoyed the patio. Unfortunately the burgers were not good. They were average at best but for gourmet prices. Don't mind paying if the food is good quality, but this just was not! This review is for House. If you like onions, House is the place for you! If not, or if you have any other allergy or aversion - well, you're out of luck. Excited by the diverse and interesting menu, I made a reservation at House shortly after it opened. Upon arrival, you could tell that the staff was jazzed - ready to show off & make their mark on the local restaurant scene. After being seated, our server explained how the menu works - all items are not quite tapas, not quite entrees. She told us that most people order 2-4 dishes each, and share. Being our first time at the restaurant and wanting to try out the menu, we selected a total of 8 different items. My dining partner has an allergy (onion) so when the server returned to take our order, we asked if any of the dishes had onions - and if so, whether they could be simply omitted from the dish, otherwise we'd choose something else from the menu. After checking with the kitchen, our server informed us that 1) they do not make ANY alterations because it would "compromise the integrity of the dish", and 2) every item on the menu had onions and could not be altered. Every. single. item. This is problematic for a number of reasons.... the server's spiel about how the chef was unwilling to "compromise the integrity" of their menu items was INCREDIBLY pretentious and ridiculous. Integrity? Oh, please - get over yourselves. YOU CAN KEEP YOUR CAREFULLY CURATED ONION DISHES, HOUSE. Allergies and aversions are completely normal and common, and any worthwhile restaurant will do what they can to accommodate customers. I dine out regularly, at many restaurants in the Lehigh Valley and elsewhere, and have never encountered this strange issue. Also, what kind of restaurant has onions in EVERY. SINGLE. DISH? How odd and uninspiring (for context, one of the items we ordered was the petite ribeye filet... they couldn't have found a way to omit onions from a piece of beef??) Lastly, and perhaps most damning, was the fact that there was ZERO effort made to accommodate us. Instead, we were made to feel embarrassed and unwelcome. The server had no suggestions, no ideas, nothing. We were told "Every item on the menu has items... sorry." Basically - House was unwilling to do anything at all to accommodate us, whatsoever. A polite way of telling guests to go eff themselves. Embarrassed, we thanked our server and walked out. Overall, a very strange and unpleasant experience. Well, House - enjoy your onions! House restaurant was a big disappointment to me, in two significant ways. First, no alterations to the menu are allowed. I have an allergy to onions and so asked if any of my chosen 5 menu items could be made without onions. I was fine with just deleting whichever part of a selection contained onions, but after checking with the chef, the waitress returned to tell me that absolutely every item on a the menu has included onions at some point, and that no menu changes of any kind are allowed. Other fine restaurants in the Valley have had no problem with accommodating allergy requests, I was very surprised and had not even considered that my allergy would be such a problem. The second disappointment was in the snooty way the waitress informed me that "the chef won't alter any dishes, it would compromise the integrity of the dish". Usually a restaurant chef will offer an alternative to solve the situation but nothing was offered. I was embarrassed. If food allergies will not be accommodated then the restaurant should let people know this before they arrive. People with food allergies are not trying to compromise anyone's integrity. I had to walk out because there was nothing there that I could safely eat, and no one cared about losing my business. Needless to say I won't be back. And with that snooty attitude I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, unless of course they love onions in every dish. And why would onions be in EVERY dish? read more

The House restaurant of the House and Barn is the ideal setting for a relaxed and enjoyable dinner with friends and family. Unfortunately, the most important ingredients are missing. We ordered appetizers - they were delivered and we didn't have any eating utensils. The food was nothing special at all which was a real disappointment based on the price and marketing material and story presented on the website. I'm really not sure where all the great reviews are coming from. No one at the table was raving about anything on their plate. Our waitress delivered the desert menu but the slowness and lack of engagement from her continued. Go for the ambience and decor. It is a very nice converted barn. Do not expect to be wow'd by the food or drinks.
