So I set out on an unbiased, objective search to find a new gym. I visited them all: the luxurious mega-gyms, the strip center types, the low cost models, the old school Rocky V gyms, the workout warrior "boxes," and everything in between. After seeing an ad on social media for Precision Fit Labs, I figured I would check it out. Considering most of my experience was strength training in a traditional gym (push, pull, legs, repeat) I have to admit my perception of PFL was a bit "skewed". Now in my 40s, I knew I was no longer young and stupid in the bulletproof and invincible stage. However, I wasn't ready to give in to all the new fads springing up all over DFW. Needless to say, Donnie (owner/trainer at PFL) completely shattered all my misconceptions. After a week of working out with him I realized just how subpar my previous workout regimen was. I didn't warm up properly. My form was a bit sloppy at times, which contributed to periodic muscle strains. My flexibility was atrocious. I didn't properly pair strength training with aerobic/cardiovascular activity. And, quite frankly, I had forgotten how to have fun while working out in a more accountable setting. Fast forward to current day, I now wonder why it took me so long to enter the 21st century of fitness. PFL is now family and I've never felt better. My energy levels are sky high; I've gained some flexibility (still a ways to go though); my muscle tone and core are more defined; I no longer have those minor "ailments" that make me feel my age; and I actually enjoy the culture and camaraderie of working out with other people again. I can't recommend Precision Fit Labs enough. The equipment and gym are state of the art. The people are great. The trainers are knowledgeable and adapt workouts to the individual. For as challenging as 2020 was, I'm thankful it brought me to PFL. Onward!

We had a great chat and made sure to answer all of my questions fully and didn't make me feel rushed at all. My free intro class was coached by Chloe. She was very welcoming and so were the other members. Chloe did (and always does) a great job teaching each movement and proving effective cues all while keeping a fun and upbeat vibe! My husband and I have been members for 2 years now and it's safe to say it was the best decision we could have made. Not only did we find a great, safe, and fun place to workout, we have met some of our best friends which has made Denton feel like home faster than we could have ever expected. Jason and Molly have since moved the gym to a bigger and better location and as a member I feel super spoiled every time I walk in. The equipment is well maintained and there is plenty of space to workout without bumping into fellow athletes. They have adjusted SO well to accommodating new safety standards due to COVID-19. Each athlete is able to workout in a designated area safely spaced from others. They also added several new programs that can be done at home for those who still do not feel safe. Jason and Molly are constantly evaluating how they can add more value to their members and take feedback to heart. In 90 days my body has changed in noticeable ways, and I'm definitely getting stronger. I've never stayed this committed to a workout regimen this long, and that's 100% because of how amazing this gym is. I've never once been intimidated, made to feel inferior, or pressured into doing a movement that might cause an injury. In my experience at The MVMT Lab: Every movement is modifiable. Every workout is achievable wherever you are in your fitness journey. The culture is inclusive, diverse, and wonderfully positive. Every coach is well-educated and informed about how to make sure you're moving safely with good form. The other athletes are super supportive and encouraging af. If you're on the fence about trying CrossFit, The MVMT Lab is an amazing spot to get you moving on your fitness journey!

But, if you're 6' or taller you'll have issues with the size of the interior sweatbox. I am 6' and had issues every time. It's just not tall enough for stretching overhead or long enough when you have to lay down. Don't get me wrong, I loved the workouts and the sweating, but besides the interior dimensions, the instructors were just alright as you can tell they were not sweating as much as I was which was a bit unsettling to me. Are they truly really pushing and sweating in a box-like I am? I doubt it because it doesn't look like it and that in and of itself of off-putting to me. Still, I had issues with the dimensions. Not sure who designed them and what they were thinking...? I had signed a contract for three months (as you have to when signing up or unless you go visit to visit) and planned on stopping after three months anyway because of this very issue (the size) no matter how much I enjoyed the workout itself and the sweating. But, since we are moving I had to cut my time short. The cancellation process (as they always are anywhere) was a bit frustrating though the staff was super helpful. It's just the process that's all. Yes, I'm a fan of working out and sweating a lot, but not in a sweatbox that I do not fit and I would prefer to feel like the person instructing is really working out as well especially if you're in a sweatbox like that.

I've…read morebeen to a number of LA Fitness location, this one is consistently clean both in the workout area and the restrooms. Their staff is friendly and helpful. They have a good number of exercise machines and lot's of barbells and similar. Of the LA Fitness locations I've been to I would say they have the best combination of exercise equipment. The treadmills are good unlike some locations like the Denton location. The number of treadmills that don't work are very low at this location. One thing that drives me crazy but I think it's LA Fitness policy is that you don't get access to kettlebell's unless you are working out with a trainer. If there are no trainers active then they are locked down. Other than that, I like this gym.
