SoCo is just a few metres away, the destination for live music bars, restaurants and high end stores. Yet, when you are in your cottage it feels like you're on an island with the courtyard garden and pool giving off a chic look that only a lifetime of investment can pull off. Everything in the cottage has been painstakingly assembled. We surprised ourselves by playing 1970s Monopoly (U.S. edition) that was kept in one of the cupboards. Keeping with the 'keep it weird' theme Austin lives by, you'll find a magazines dedicated to chickens, chandelier hanging from the tree, an old camera on a tripod (manual hanging from it) being used as a lamp and much more. The daily breakfast is made from scratch and is always a pleasant surprise as it varies everyday. That with a garnish of conversations with Shakti is always a great start to the day, as she is a repository of tips to make the most of your visit. This was like staying at one's aunt's place; it's not perfect but that's the point!

We were not disappointed! The breakfast was incredible! I'm vegan and gluten-free and Shakti specialized every breakfast to my restrictions. Incredible food! The environment of the b&b is just as amazing: calm fountains and blooming roses outside of our private cottage, pillowtop beds and rustic stylings. This place is a sanctuary of peace (with high speed internet) to return to after a day of exploring! Highly recommend if you're vegetarian/vegan and staying in Austin.

First the location was ideal, right on South Congress and the best part is that the parking is free! I was a little concerned about noise coming from the clubs that are literally steps away, but it was not an issue the weekend I was there. Second, the property is more like an Airbnb in that there's no front desk. You get the access code via email prior to your arrival. However, that is not to say that there's no staff. I had some questions and was easily able to talk/text to someone immediately. We were in the Orange room which was comfortable and well-designed for two people. Plenty of storage space in the main room and in the bathroom. I always get nervous when I see the wall mounted AC unit, but this one worked great! Our room was nice and cold and the unit was very quiet. My only negative point of our entire stay is that the water pressure in the bathroom is a bit weak and the hot water from the sink tap takes a very long time to warm up. We enjoyed the common room with the Jura coffee maker. There is also filtered water and other beverages available at no charge. I'd like to add that the staff is incredibly friendly and kind. I look forward to staying here again soon!

We were there from August 29th - September 4th. We stayed in the Conductor's Cottage again. Everything went perfectly. The cottage was very clean. In fact, I have a very bad dust allergy, but my allergy symptoms never occurred while staying here which is saying something! The water pressure was great, and I loved that there's always extra toilet paper available in the cottage in case we need some. I love that the cottage has plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery since my husband and I didn't go out to eat except once while we were there. We didn't need to go out since Tiffany makes a big and delicious breakfast every morning. Seriously, the woman should be a chef as well. She's so good with breakfast, and it's always the best breakfast I've had. Tiffany also did a fantastic job at making me a breakfast that I could have with my many dietary needs. With breakfast, it's like a family style thing where you all sit at one table to eat. There is the option of having breakfast delivered to your room if you'd rather not eat with others. Tiffany (the owner) is super nice, and she always would ask us if we needed anything for our room every morning. She makes you feel so welcome and like part of the family. This girl would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. Seriously, Tiffany is such a great human. The bed was super comfy and the AC gets pretty cold. It's a mini split, but it definitely got the room cold quickly despite the Texas heat. In fact, I even had to turn up the AC to 80 many times because I would get so cold! There are trains that go by many times throughout the day and night as the railroad tracks are near the Katy House. However, there are earplugs in the room if you don't like the noise. I find it soothing though. It's very close to a bar (Huebel's), but the bar stays very quiet even on a weekend, so no worries about bar noise or even the noise from people coming out of the bar. The B&B is a block away from Main Street so there are a few restaurants and shops within a very short walking distance. Speaking of walking, my husband and I would walk/run about five miles every night we were there. All the streets we ran/walked seemed safe. We never encountered anything bad. Tiffany even gave us some pointers about where to walk to to get out in nature away from the hustle and bustle of the town. (Although the locals are very nice.) Minnie (a member of staff) was also really nice when we would see her. She would always smile and say hello. She's also a sweetheart. While we were there, we got to see a couple of squirrels close up. The squirrels love jumping from tree to tree around the area. Parking is plentiful. It's all street parking around the property, but it's all very safe to park around the building. The tv is a smart tv, so there were plenty of streaming options and services to sign in to. However, if you don't do streaming services, there was still channels available you could watch without signing into anything. Be sure to stay at the Katy House if you've ever wanted to experience Heaven on Earth. I'm convinced Tiffany is an angel here on Earth! Pretty sure that when you stay at the Katy House, you actually get transported to Heaven. Definitely stay here, and you'll see what I mean. You'll want to keep coming back!

Upon arrival, our supervisors provided us with a day pass to the spa which included, access to the grounds, trail access, pickleball access, library access, breakfast, coffee/tea, an hour long massage and a boxed lunch. We started at the pickleball courts and we were the only ones out there. The staff provided us with pickleball equipment so don't worry if you don't have any! After a few rounds, we then went to the spa to get our massage. In the massage building there were four separate rooms and a bathroom. Everything was clean and smelled amazing. A male masseuse then guided me to our room and ensured I was comfortable and asked if I had any areas I wanted to focus on. The massage was INCREDIBLE! My peers had nothing but great things to say about their experience as well. One masseuse was even experienced in pre-natal massages. The boxed lunch meal was such a delicious treat. It came with a sandwich, cookie, drink, chips and a salad. After lunch, a few of us walked some trails and sat around the fire pit. I would recommend sage hill a hundred times! We stayed there from Thursday April 23rd - Sunday April 26th 2026. It was like living in an Italian Villa and you would be hard pressed to find a more gracious host and chef than Justin anywhere ! He's been doing this for over twenty years ! We arrived at the Lakehouse around 3:00 pm and were immediately welcomed by Justin who carried our bags to our upstairs Medici Room and gave us a tour of the house. Justin also provided us with excellent tips on things to see and do in the area, as well as suggestions for restaurants for lunches and dinners. Thursday evening, we ate dinner on the outside patio of Gennaro's Trattoria where we enjoyed their Authentic Italian Kitchen. Friday morning, we enjoyed a delicious omelet breakfast in the Lakehouse breakfast room overlooking Canyon Lake and great conversation with other guests. Following breakfast, we took a leisurely drive down River Road to the quaint town of Gruene (that's pronounced "Green"). There, we had lunch at the Gruene River Grill, followed by a relaxing stroll through the many antique and boutique shops in Gruene, and a visit to Gruene Hall, Texas' Oldest Dance Hall. We then returned to Canyon Lake and enjoyed some merlot wine and cheese and crackers (which we had brought with us) on the Lakehouse's covered outdoor patio overlooking Canyon Lake. We had dinner at Canyon Lake's Wildflour Artisan Bakery & Grill which offers a full menu. On Saturday morning, we enjoyed a delicious Belgian waffle breakfast in the Lakehouse breakfast room. Following breakfast, we drove to the town of Blanco and visited Arnosky's Flower Farm. After walking around the beautiful flower fields, we bought some beverages and snacks inside Arnosky's barn and sat in the chairs on the barn's covered back porch patio overlooking the flower fields, humming bee feeders, and bird feeders. You could sit there a long time as the scene is ever changing. From Arnosky's, we drove to Tillman's Cabin Resort in Blanco and ate lunch at the Rio Blanco Café overlooking the Blanco river. After lunch, we drove to the original 1885 Blanco Court House in downtown Blanco where we took a leisurely self-guided tour of the courthouse. We also visited Blanco's many antique and boutique shops. Saturday evening, we attended the 4 pm mass at Canyon Lake's St. Thomas The Apostle Church. At the end of mass, we witnessed one of their congregants step up to the lectern with the pastor's approval, talk about what the bible says about a wife, ask the lady in the front row next to us to step forward, and then bent down on one knee and asked her to marry him in front of the entire church congregation, and she said "YES" and they kissed. What a beautiful proposal ! Following mass, we had dinner on the outside patio of Canyon Lake's Elio's Osteria e Pizzeria. On the evening drive back to the Lakehouse, we saw lots of white tail deer in the neighborhood. On Sunday morning, we enjoyed a delicious scone and quiche breakfast in the Lakehouse breakfast room. We again enjoyed conversing with the other guests as we had every day, and then we packed and headed home. Sorry for the length of this review but my wife and I thought readers might enjoy hearing about what one can do from The Lakehouse Bed and Breakfast at Canyon Lake. Day 1 included orange scones and a delicious zucchini fritatta and roasted potatoes - incredible. Day 2, by special request, included strawberries Romanov and eggs benedict with sausage.
