Spent 1 night there on a quick trip to the area for biz. Tastefully well appointed rooms were good for the techie / gadget dork - lots of USB enabled outlets to charge stuff, automatic lights under the bedside table turn on when you walk near, cool shower, better than average desk chair and lounger (like, types I might actually have in my house). Quiet. Also, breakfast in the morning is really very good. Automatic pancake machine pumps out pancakes on demand 2 at a time, the automatic espresso machine made a really very decent double shot cappuccino, everybody was super friendly. Missed the samosas but will definitely check that out next time. Would love it if they would do a complimentary happy hour like some other places do, but that won't make or break my choices. Will definitely stay there again! read more

At first sight, this seems like a renovated Motel 6 neighboring a large abandoned lot. This would have been a pleasant surprise had we anticipated we were staying at a Motel 6, but the price we paid was that of a Hyatt. As soon as we parked, the only other car in the lot, held a woman who was giving us a stink-eye. We got out of the car and she barked "You're not going to park here are you? This is reserved for electric cars." We didn't realize the mistake, but we were taken aback by her tone. We then looked around the empty parking lot, wondering why it was warranted, but assured her we were just checking in. I couldn't tell if she was part of the hotel management or a guest but after her request that we move the vehicle soon, she got on her bike and rode away. BAFFLING. Given that random person and the motel-like exterior, We were reasonably nervous as we entered the lobby, but were relieved to see a lovely interior and a friendly smile. We asked the front desk associate if we could peak inside a room before checking in and she said "Can I ask why? Because either way the room is non-refundable." which was pretty affronting. Granted, we probably sounded really snobby, but defensiveness was unneeded. Any other hotel would have said "Absolutely!'. She placed my colleague (female) on the upper floor and myself (male) on the lower and when my colleague worried about carrying her luggage up the staircase, the front desk associate then reassured "We place the females on the second floor so they can feel more secure", which ironically made us both insecure. "Don't worry there's a glass wall surrounding the property so no one can get over" (more insecurity). She then handed us cute goody-bags. When I asked how come my colleague got shampoo, she said "Females get the shampoo, yours is in your room." (More baffled looks). The rooms were actually very pleasant, the showers were awesome, comfy beds, and SO grateful for the 21st Century DirectTV, versus that channel up/channel down format at most hotels. The breakfast was plentiful and the front desk associate turned out to be extremely sweet and even checked in with us (the phones ring WAY too loud) to see if we found somewhere to eat. Overall, they made a product which could have been weak, very impressive. They should be proud! I'm sure they battle preconceived notions/surface judgments from jerks like us all the time- but they should not let their customer service waver. I also think the gender-specific accommodations are questionable. Personally, I feel the price was not worth the room, but it was a really relaxing stay. I wish them the best of luck. read more

Just got home from our stay at Hotel Strata. Very impressed with the staff and accommodations. Oscar checked us in Friday night when we arrived and was beyond friendly. Mr. Patel was there every morning when we went down for breakfast. So friendly and personable. The staff were all very sweet and treated us so well. They were the best part of the stay. You can tell they appreciate your business. They even gave my one year old son a teddy bear. They offer a lot of choices for breakfast. Best complimentary breakfast I've had at a hotel. They have something for everyone. The room was very clean and modern. One of my favorite features was the night light that came on from under the nightstand when I got out of bed. The heated floors were awesome. Lots of USB outlets. I definitely recommend this hotel. We will stay here next time we go up north. read more

Our child is admitted at the El Camino Hospital and we wanted a place to stay by close for a night. I call this hotel and Dileep picks up the phone and says he is helping a customer and offers to call back. He calls back in 5 minutes. First inquires our needs and we tell him about our situation, first asks about the health of the baby, the mom and assures us that every thing will be fine. Then he offers a special rate for the Hospital, offers an extended checkout till 5 pm the next day and promises to provide every possible help. We check in to the hotel late in the night, and Em, the front desk executive is so helpful, understands our state and help us to check in quickly and promises to pray for the well being of the child. The next day morning while I am out, my wife walks in to the breakfast bar and Dileep stops by to inquire how is everything going. A little later, another hotel staff knocks on the door to see if she could be of help. Gladys, another front office executive was also warm and helpful during the checkout. Though our stay was short, and we were exhausted, the hotel staff made sure that we were felt at home. Apart from the staff, the hotel rooms are great and has a variety of spread for breakfast. I would highly recommend this place. read more

I stayed in Hotel Strata for the weekend when I was visiting the Bay Area for work. It doesn't look fancy or huge from the outside when you pull into the driveway, but you'll be surprised. The rooms are really big and modern, with hardwood floors, heated bathroom tiles, a great rain shower, and clean facilities all through out. Breakfast is included and was good both the mornings I ate there. The staff is truly wonderful, they make sure you're comfortable and have everything you need. The location is fantastic, there's ample parking, free internet, a huge TV with all premium movie channels - absolutely no complaints. I'm definitely going to stay here again if I'm in the area. read more

Excellent! Really nice room, heated bathroom floor, a bidet!!! Elemis products in the room, very nice. The breakfast was good, lot of goodies. The staff were excellent, very helpful, very accommodating. Hope to see Santy and Kirit again, you guys were great, thanks. read more

I was so happy to find this gem. Great location near Nijiya, Japanese grocery store. Super close to El Camino Hospital. The room I had was very clean and so amazingly well thought out. Everything you need is there. The staff and owner are so warm and welcoming. I had some special requests which they accommodated with great care. The room was so quiet I had a better nights sleep than in my own home. I will make this my new Bay Area hotel for when I visit. read more

Stayed here Saturday, 10/15 after attending an awesome classical pianist's performance. Absolutely fantastic hotel!!! The staff is so friendly and professional and the room was so quiet. I was on the first floor, not sure if the room(s) above me were occupied, but didn't hear any footsteps pounding on the ceiling of my room. The breakfast the next day was super impressive - I don't eat a lot of carbs, especially in the morning, and was so grateful that there was more than enough protein-type food available. The room had some great little touches - like the closet rod that has small built-in LED lights that light up when the armoir door is opened, and the motion-activated light under the night stand that gives a soft amount of light so that you don't bang into corners & other furniture. My deepest Thank You, Hotel Strata! read more

This is a quaint but modern, accessible but tucked away hotel. We had tickets to an event at the Shoreline and wanted to spend the night close by. I had emailed hotel asking if they provided a shuttle; and they replied w/in an hour explaining they didn't but would call a reputable taxi. We checked in, and I was pleasantly surprised. Room was large, airy and light. Shower has 3 nozzles! Husband took a long wonderful shower. What is unique is the hotel has a glass enclosed breezeway running the length in front of all rooms. This made it quieter inside the room. Our intention was to rest a bit in the room before going to the Shoreline. We got so comfortable in our room, we stayed in and didn't go to the concert. Wouldn't you know we didn't totally miss out on live music- a young lady was playing her violin right in the parking area. Definitely will tell everyone about the Hotel Strata. We will be staying here again! read more

Sadly only stayed in our king suite for one night. Quiet, clean, entertaining, and thanks to Kirit for helping us find a great restaurant. Especially liked it was close to good food and the hospital where i had a procedure the next day. Thanks for the patient rate and the extras! read more

I came in with low expectations as I had been warned this was a renovated Holiday Inn Express, but I've stayed at Marriotts that weren't this nice. The rooms are accessible through a secured entrance that requires a room key, so security is much better than that of an typical motel, plus they have cameras all over the place. The attention to detail in the renovation was very well thought out, from the materials used to amenities provided. A box on the desk allows you to plug your devices into the TV, the bathroom floor is heated, the desk chair is a Herman Miller, and a laptop tray allows you to work comfortably from the bed or chair. There's even a scale in the lobby so you can check the weight on your baggage before your flight! The included breakfast was great, and the staff very friendly and helpful. Pricey, but you get a lot for the money. Would definitely stay there again. read more

For a small little town of Mt.View this is some fancy high tech place!!! I love the staff first of all. The suite I got for the night was AMAZING! SO MODERN and high tech!! There's a TV mirror in the bathroom!!!. I love that it's clean and roomy. I think I am spoiled now and can't settle for less! And most of all I always feel very safe. Highly secure facility!! Kudos to Hotel Strata for keeping it neat and tight for the guests!! read more

The place is really good. Beautiful place to live here. Convenient location. Enjoyed my stay.

This hotel is awesome! Great customer service, complimentary breakfast and 24-hour snack bar (for a small fee)! The rooms have nice bathrooms, updated decor, ihome alarm clock with iPhone dock, a microwave, mini fridge (with freezer compartment!) and coffee maker. A nice big 60" TV and with all the good movie channels: HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax. Will definitely stay here again when in Mountain View! The only negative was our shower. The tub filled up with water up to our ankles so we had to unscrew and completely remove the tub plug! Yuk! read more

I travel to Mountain View on business ~ once a month and this is the by far the best hotel in the Mountain View area - and I've stayed at a LOT of them that cost FAR more and were not nearly this nice or had this attention to detail. The rooms are located behind secured entrances - a nice security feature. The rooms themselves - a very luxurious feel at not so luxurious prices. Big screen TV, fridges, heated bathroom floors, trouser presses, a nice touch electronic fireplace. The upgraded rooms have televisions embedded in the bathroom mirrors, convection type stoves, sinks, etc. Tons of USB type plug ins and charging options. Decent fitness center. Again, everything has a luxurious feel, lots of wood and granite, nothing cheap or gimmicky. What really sets this hotel apart is Dilip and his Staff - friendly, accommodating, very attentive. You'll feel like more than just a guest. The Breakfast is decent sized and has a wide variety of items to accommodate every diet and taste. This will continue to be my ONLY choice when travelling to the Mountain View area and has become a highlight of my stay in the area. You won't be disappointed! read more

This is the most amazing hotel I have ever stayed in. A family owned hotel, every staff member we interacted with was gracious, kind, and genuinely wanted our feedback on how they could improve. I couldn't think of a thing they could do better. A warm welcome upon check in, complimentary gift bag with water and extra soft slippers, filtered water machines, bikes to explore Mountain View, heated bathroom floors and toilet seats, bidet, waterfall shower with three spouts, amazing gym, shoe horn, full ironing board and pant press, hdmi cord to connect your laptop or other device to the tv, air purifier, coffee and espresso machine in the lobby making speciality coffee drinks like a vanilla or mocha latte, delicious complimentary breakfast daily, nespresso machine in the room. I am missing so many of the amazing details that didn't even occur to us. I don't write reviews often but I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. Truly exceptional room, stay, and service. I went in with my son to check in while I stayed with my sister somewhere else due to not being able to get a room there. It is clean and close to restaurants and stores. When we came into the lobby the lady who was to check in was on a step-ladder replenishing the food area. Right away I saw that as different being I have never been at a hotel that has food out past ten. We were welcomed and she hurried over to do the check in. We were in a hurry and appreciated the fast check-in. She told us that she would keep restocking and the doors are always open. This hotel is awesome and the staff will go out of their way for you. My son called me the first morning to tell me how comfortable the bed was and he had a sound sleep. Rooms are a good size and you won't feel cramped. You will like the breakfast options (both hot and cold) and different teas. This place is worth every penny you pay. Also, won't have to go far for a good-size meal with Los Charros next door. The down side to this hotel is if you have a room on the second floor they do not have an elevator. read more

Clean, comfortable, great service, and excellent location. This is not a fancy hotel, but for visitors to Mountain View on work or leisure, I would recommend it as a very solid place to stay. - Rooms and facility are spotless - Great service and courteous staff willing to go the extra mile - Excellent breakfast bar - Decent rates, including low weekend rates - Good location with easy access to 101, 85, or El Camino read more

My family stayed here because of the convenient location and the in-suite kitchens. The rooms have a modern design aesthetic and are quite large. The hotel has a local shuttle (it doesn't go to the airport, but it will take you down Castro street and to other nearby locations). The fitness center got good reviews, too, but the staff was really what stood out. The manager got to know every guest, and the front desk staff was very friendly and good with recommendations about places to eat, sights, etc. read more

I'm NOT a frequent reviewer. I AM a frequent stayer at top hotels and resorts in Las Vegas, LA, Tucson, etc. Hotel Strata is a gem. I expected much less seeing as it looks on google maps like a motel on a four lane road. Surprise surprise. Everything is tip top. The floors are clean and the tiles are straight. The towels are fluffy. The room smells new (not that musty "motel smell"). The TV is a 55" flat-screen with Dish. HBO is included. Stuff I CARE ABOUT - there is a wired Internet port, and they give you the password for the web authentication when you check in WITHOUT YOU HAVING TO ASK. I checked in on Saturday and the password changes Sunday so they gave me slips of paper preprinted with the current AND the next password without my having to ask. Internet was fast. Iperf 4.5Mbps, 50ms latency to homebase in Arizona. Shower squeaky clean, hot, never ran out of hot water. Soap, shampoo, toiletries, a sign offering to give you whatever you forgot to bring... all there. The complimentary breakfast has a pancake machine, an espresso/capuccino machine (fully auto), omeletes, pastries, spreads, bananas, cereals, whatever you like. I showed up barefoot (that's how I roll) and the manager came out and instead of chewing me out (thanks, Raffles, Las Vegas) busted open a package of slippers and put them in front of my feet... so... the $2 slippers I can order in the room he pretty much just GAVE ME. Never said a word about "We don't allow guests to walk barefoot" or "Health code violation" or any of the rule-toting stuff you get at "institutional" places and TSA. About 30min after I checked in the Polycom phone (yes, VOIP) rang. It was the front desk gal asking if I was enjoying my room. Normally I hate front-desk people calling me... this was unexpectedly appreciated. Yes, everything was great. The day after I checked in I walked by and the front desk gal said "Hello Mr Gavron, Mr. XXXXX was looking for you yesterday... did he get a hold of you? I didn't give him your room number..." We were all there for a wedding and yes he had, but for her to a)remember my name, b)remember me by sight, c)remember mr. XXXXX... that's service. Most of the wedding guests went next door to the Mexican restaurant. The front-desk gal told me that at check-in. I said I had other plans so she told me how to get to my room without walking right past the window of the restaurant. Good stuff! The facility uses the main building and a second building just past the restaurant. Access is by keycard. The doors all responded crisply to the card (better than the MGM Grand in LV...). They have a ping-pong table I didn't get a chance to use. Ice machine online and generating ice all times day and night. Parking next to the room like at a motel ("motor hotel") but service like a 4 star resort. ATTITUDE - from the owner on down EVERYONE went OUT OF THEIR WAY to say hello even when I was just sneaking through the lobby. NOBODY told me ANYTHING about any rule I may or may not be about to violate (unlike the Luxor where at 3am a security nazi demanded to see my room key... in the elevator lobby...) Comp breakfast - A+ Room quality - A+ Bed / sleep - A+ Room HVAC is a window-mount unit that was not loud, and maintained great temp - A+ WiFi/Wired Internet - A+ Ease of process (res, late arrival, checkin, front desk, checkout) - A+ What could they have done better? I don't know. Really I look forward to explaining to business people how they are alienating their customers. These guys are not. AM I A SHILL? No. I'm a real person who flew out for a wedding and stayed there because the bride and groom chose it. CAN YOU CONTACT ME TO VERIFY I'M A REAL PERSON AND I STAND BY THIS REVIEW? Absolutely. Do me a favor, use email, and be sure to say "not spam... when you start your message." WHAT QUALIFIES YOU TO RATE HOTELS??? I stay in lots of them. I fly helicopters. I do computer networks. I have no time for failure. This hotel is not a failure... far from it. There's my review. Hotel Strata. It rocked. Ehud Gavron Tucson AZ US read more

I've been staying at this place for work for the last few years (it started as a Holiday Inn Express). They have the most friendly hotel staff I've seen. The breakfast is amazing and they provide rides to local offices if you're staying there for business. There is a pool and a weight room. One time when I had lost my wallet on the airplane on the way in, they offered to loan me some cash until I could get my wallet back. They broke off from the Holiday Inn Express brand because they were getting in trouble with the corporation for offering extra amenities that went above and beyond what a most holiday inn expresses offer. I think the prices may have gone down since they went off on their own. The free wifi is fast. All rooms have direct tv and ports to watch movies from your computer. read more

Great rooms, great service, great breakfast, great everything! By far, the best service I've ever gotten in a hotel. My cellphone charger broker during my flight to SF and one of the managers, Kirit, in addition to getting me a new charger, gave me his *personal* cellphone battery case for the length of my stay. All the staff was exceptional and I can't say enough good things about this place. Go book a room now!! read more

My husband and I just spent two weeks at the Holiday Inn Express in Mountain View California. It was a wonderful experience. In addition to a lovely room with hardwood floors, a king size bed, large TV, sitting area, and free wi-fi, the hotel features an extensive breakfast each morning, and a swimming pool and exercise room to work it off. The staff, expecially Mr. Patel, the manager, his office staff, cleaning staff and breakfast staff were all exceedingly gracious. The motel is a short walk from strip malls with groceries, drug stores, etc. It is also a short walk to Castro street, Mountain View's main drag. Although ithe Holiday Inn is located on El Camino, our room was very quiet. read more

Very unpleasant over the phone. The lady hung up abruptly when she saw I was not interested. I would have probably called back later on.

I stayed here one night in November 2010. I have nothing bad to say. This seems to be a family owned hotel. Staff people care and seemed to have been with the property for a long time. Well kept place Someone on the property is into gadgets and a perfectionist and pays attention to detail. The king size bed - VERY comfortable. Convenient outlets and dimmers on each side of the bed. great overhead lighting. Wireless network - connected easily and I had no problem watching a movie on Netflix. Wire at desk for internet. Cable - Many movie stations plus a dvd/vcr combo was connected to the flat screen. Lobby has newspapers and a smart express breakfast. A wooden floor sounds funny in a hotel room, yet I found it to be the greatest idea. Bathroom had all the extras/ freebies you would need plus there was double head shower. There was some kind of night light in the bathroom so if you needed to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you did not have to put the regular light and be blasted by a bright light at 3am. Laptop board for your laptop. Darkening blinds that opened from the top or bottom AND darkening curtains. There were many more things. I dont know if I had the room that the manager experimented with or each room had all the same things. It was as if the manager put in went to the hotel gadget trade show and put everything in the room to try it out. Anyhow, everything was done smartly. The room was clean and quiet. Btw, the pool is not for adults doing laps, but more sized for kids. I used their shuttle bus (shuttle does not go to the airport). In and Out burger 200 yards away and a nicely priced Mexican restaurant next door that had good food - did a to go order. Gladys was one of the managers - very accommodating. She originally put me through to 1 800 holiday inn express when there was not a room for me, however, when I called back and told her I was having a surgery across the street, she went out of her way to squeeze me in and was very helpful during my stay. read more

Have stayed here twice. It's a notch above something like Best Western. However, the location/decor is somewhat depressing and, the second time around, the shower faucet was leaking water and, worse yet, dirty residue from the pipes. I'd probably give it 2.5 stars considering the price. read more

I wish I can give this hotel a 6 cause best hotel I ever stayed in with best customer service I have gotten in any hotel I ever stayed @ by the front desk clerk Oscar and services by the manager Kirit who drove me in the shuttle anytime anywhere I wanted to go. This is A motel with really dedicated effort to face lift. My feeling, Once a Motel always a Motel. Their money should've spent somewhere with better location, floorpan and nicer grounds. Not my type to rave about. This is a typical case of "lipstick on a pig" The owners and crew are trying to make a Motel into a 4 star Hotel. Unlike Cupertino inn, the crew there are trying to turn a nice hotel into a Motel. read more

Hotel Strata is a GREAT find, had medical excursion to Stanford and found Strata by viewing yelp reviews. Long Trip fom Oregon via Sacramento for a follow up and thought we had mad a mistake staying in Mountainview-- Boy were we wrong pulled in and were greeting warmlyby evening staff unloaded our loud girls and entered a huge suprise!! The room was huge, two very nice queens with matching easy chairs pointed at a home theater sized televsion. Nicely appointed apartment sized kitchen w/ island. The bathroom was very nicely done, and clean as I have ever seen in a Hotel/motel But the best part is the Staff-- first class- friendly, engaging and when we unleashed the family for breakfast - the pancake machine was a big hit-- the manager I presume came and presented our girls with teddy bear momentos of their stay Who does that these days!!! I have never had such an amazing experience at a hotel! This hotel is all about service from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. Not a single detail goes unnoticed by this amazing staff. The owner himself was super-attentive and on the premises the entire time I was there ... when I asked for shuttle service, he was the one driving, and when I inquired about the bicycles (available for all guests to use!) he was the one putting air in the bike tires and giving me directions for the best restaurants! Every staff member asked me if there was anything they could do to make my stay more pleasant, and when they asked, it felt like they really meant it. My room was immaculate and obviously designed with the client in mind. The shower had high-end fixtures including one of those rain-like ceiling-mounted shower heads. Next to the bed there are outlets that include USB ports so you can charge your phone right there, no matter what type of charger you have. Wifi was included in the room rate as well as the most diverse and yummy breakfast and snack bar (many of the snacks like yogurt were available 24/7, even after the breakfast bar closed). Slippers and a robe were included in the room, as well as bottled water and a handful of other goodies meant to make you feel at home. I could go on and on but you get the picture. My boyfriend & I booked this hotel on a complete whim, and I couldn't have been any happier. We called to ask if we can park before check-in and Mr. Patel said our room was ready 2 hours early & we could come in any time. That was just the beginning. Em greeted us at the front desk and I was immediately impressed. She talked with us like she knew every need we could possibly ask. When explaining the amenities, she looked up at my 6'4 boyfriend and said "you won't have to worry about ducking under the shower, we have an overhead option, you'll love it!" We laughed a while. The best check in process I've experienced in my lifetime. Now the room itself, beyond compare. You would've thought I paid $400 to stay here! Heated bathroom floors, censored lights under the night stands, floating 42" flat screen, water fall shower (more like water fall, hand held & standard 3-in-1), and the most clean & comfortable bed you could ask for. The room is spacious & as warm or as cold as your heart desires. I came to stay with family for the holidays, but this room felt more like home. In the morning, for complementary breakfast, the General Manager PERSONALLY showed me how to use the espresso machine (because it's a beautifully advanced system). I was in awe. I worked as a Guest Services Manager for a couple years and I could count on one hand how many times I encountered our owner & GM. When asked the best route to the 49ers game, Em gave us great options with Mr. Patel chiming in with great tips. The staff works together to ensure everything is copacetic. From beginning to end of the stay, I felt like I was more than a customer. My birthday was yesterday and I didn't even have to mention it to get such special treatment. If you're looking for an exceptionally modern hotel with customer service that out does the Westin, STAY HERE! You won't experience anything better. read more

The hotel feels newly renovated and very clean. 'Hard wood' (faux) floors give it a luxurious feel and the giant slate shower is a nice touch. The included breakfast is pretty decent and service was helpful and efficient. Bed was nice and firm but pillows were a little soft for my tastes. A few extra amenities make for a great rest point if you're on the road- self laundry, bicycles, pool, fitness centre. Good parking - motorbikes would be fine here - and I would definitely stay here again. read more
