You won't find a lot of frills at Hotel Avante in Mountain View. But what you *can* expect is a good night's rest. That beats the alternative hands-down. The wife and I have stayed here twice now: once on the ground floor, and once on the 4th floor. Both times, our room was comfortable and noise was almost non-existent. No noise from neighbors or plumbing through the walls. Very little hallway noise. And just faint noise from busy El Camino Real through the closed window. Our rooms included a king bed, TV, desk, mini fridge, and a microwave. There's free WiFi and free parking. No breakfast, but complimentary coffee, juice, and fruit are available in the morning. The fitness center is somewhat limited, featuring a recumbent bike, Peloton, an elliptical, two treadmills, a bench, and free weights up to 25 lbs. The staff was friendly and cared about making our stay pleasant. Rates were reasonable, and we used the money we saved to splurge at the nearby Safeway. This was a great "home away from home" for our visits to the Bay Area! read more

Stayed here for 3 nights and it was excellent all around. Also very quiet after about 10pm because oh boy does that street get busy during the day. Great price and it's in a good location close to basically everything. I was in town for the Ed Sheeran concert at Levi's and it was a 10 minute drive. I personally loved the goodwill and waffle place across the street and recommend both. Check in and out was a breeze. As was parking and the room was spotless. Also special shoutout to the night desk employee- JD. He was great. Fantastic customer service, very engaging and just so pleasant to talk too!! Let me just say that we need more people like him! He literally had such the sweetest disposition ever, and made my welcome extremely positive from the get-go. He realized that I came in on my actual birthday (06/27). Because of this knowledge, he provided complimentary breakfast under my account to make my stay a little more special. Thanks to him for an unforgettable, memorable experience - THE BEST! What I loved about this hotel was the following: - The stylish and colorful vibe throughout the hotel. - The breakfast food tasted great. I tried the Ham Breakfast, Yogurt Parfait, and Apple Juice. - Parking was easy, accessible, and complimentary for hotel guests. - The Marketplace was open 24 hours, which sold a variety of snacks + drinks. - Complimentary wine served in the lobby every Monday - Thursday between 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM; Even though I didn't stay on any of the weekdays, this was still a cool offering to know. - Heated pool and hot tub available for use year-round; Hours between 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM. - The hotel room was phenomenal with wonderful amenities; comfortable bed, functionally cool A/C, TV, fresh towels, etc. - Having a nice view of the hotel property from the 4th floor. - Beautiful plants such as Aeoniums and African Lilies throughout the property. - Price point of the room: About $113 per day (including taxes/fees). The hotel itself is cute on the surface, but there are aspects that need attention (carpet stains, poorly installed shower head, improperly installed shower drains (drain cover higher than the floor of the tub which causes water back ups), odd bathroom sink faucets (design is odd and it also aligns with the sink bowl in a weird spot so washing your hands takes patience). As a heads up, the hotel is pet friendly and the walls are also thin, so I could hear my neighbor's dog barking throughout the night. My neighbor was also just loud to begin with (ex. Talking loudly enough to be heard through the walls, slamming the room door repeatedly). My experience with their staff members were always positive and all staff members I saw seemed very friendly. When I booked the room, I swear it said breakfast was complimentary, but after checking in, we were told breakfast is grab and go and paid. read more

There are stains on the carpet and staples in the floor. Hair in the bathroom. An old microwave and terrible coffee maker. Breakfast is not free and parking is not secured- and they had to have a. Talk with me about not leaving items in my car over night.,,,parking spots were super small. Usual old crappy hotel room with loud ptac unit, old microwave, nasty coffee maker, tiny tv, and room overall is small. Not worth the money at all. Front desk person was kind. As a business hotel, it's totally fine -- just fine, but nothing to write home about. I had a Deluxe King with rainfall showerhead (advertised), and while the room was nicely appointed, the bathroom was clearly a budget retrofit. Low tub with a rainfall showerhead mounted at approx 6' height to the original standard location, a very tight bathroom compared to the rest of the room, original orange tile floor and mold at the edges. Fridge and microwave is provided, which is nice, but the AC/heat is a bulky and LOUD wall unit. I visited during a unseasonably cold spring week and had to keep running the heat on and off because it was too loud (intermittent too, will shut off on its own and cycle back at always the same loud volume) to just set a temp and leave it. read more

First off, I have to say that I don't review hotels with regularity. It takes a lot to stand out, for better or for worse. I had to come and review the Hotel Avante wholly because of RJ who is the front desk concierge. He is absolutely everything a concierge should be. He had wonderful local recommendations, was knowledgeable and helpful with any questions I had, and is a truly unforgettable personality and spirit. After a long day of work travel for what would be a turn-around trip, he went above and beyond to make sure I felt relaxed and accommodated for my brief stay. Without any prompting, he even ensured that as a solo female traveler, I was given a room on an upper level right on the main hallway (as opposed to a far-off corner down multiple paths) which added to my sense of security. While you can tell the bones of the hotel have been there for a minute, the hotel is nicely and wholly updated with plenty of nice conveniences and refreshments available in the lobby. The room is spacious, the bed and bedding were very comfortable, and it was relatively quiet. I wasn't disturbed and had everything I needed. Check in and check out were very efficient and I felt safe for my whole stay. RJ is the game changer here though. I wish I could just clone him for every hotel I'll ever go to. read more

Random room off to the side with a lot of leftover construction when you walk in. A lot of improvements could be made: -not a good toiletry dispenser concept...if its open cap. -thermostat had issues -first room I was put in, had refrigerator noises, so I had to request to move rooms -area didn't feel very safe. I have nothing bad to say about this place. We stayed here 1 night for a concert. It's all updated and I wish I took a pic of the amazing beds. My sister and I slept so great, it's like you sink into a cloud. Fridge and microwave in the room with a mini coffee machine. Hotel Avante has a great name, but it is not a chic, botique-style hotel, and while the rooms are OK, the front lobby was being rebuilt during my stay. So the place was a little bit dirty, particularly the elevator floor. I only stayed two nights, and it was rainy and cold during my visit, so I can't comment on the swimming pool, etc. The breakfast was a bit better than the cheapest places around, but definitely not great. And the price was not really good given the remodeling. I would stay here again, I suppose, but there are lots of places in this area, so I would probably check out other places before booking again. read more

I checked in at 2am got a room went to bed, the ac was not functioning right I was sweating all night kept hearing a noise in the ac tapping noises and what not, when I awoke their was a rodent that squeezed into the ac unit shutters where the air comes out. Great value! We booked a one-night stay in the air on the way to San Jose. We knew this location was available and offered free parking and breakfast. We had never stayed here before. The staff was very friendly, very accommodating. It hotel had a boutique feel. I think it has recently been added to the Hyatt brand (don't quote me). Our room was clean and spacious. It overlooked a small pool area - which had a couple tables and a couple loungers. The best part of the stay - the bed. I've never had a bad nights sleep at a Hyatt and this is no exception. Got a very good rate so we decided to stay here again this past weekend for two nights. Glad to see the upgrades done in the lobby and especially the room. Our room 420 had nice natural light and even in the night time, it was fairly well lit in the room and bathroom. Bed was really comfy. Gym is under construction and will be moved from 4th fl to 1st fl. For the time being, can use the gym at the Aloft Hotel next door. Just check in with their front desk, sign the waiver and they'll lead the way. Breakfast was very simple if you are not picky. Room AC/ heat can be quite loud if you are a light sleeper. And the floor shakes so we had to tiptoe. The walls are pretty thin too so just be a good neighbor and be gentle shutting the door and keeping the tv in low vol. Friendly staff. Will stay here again if the low rate becomes available again. read more

A little surprised by the high reviews, but maybe because it's more resort style people enjoy their time here. I used it a few times for work as it's usually reasonably priced and stays here count towards Hyatt points. But it's an extremely dated hotel with the doors not properly shutting without you making the effort to shut them (I think housekeeping once forgot to do it as I remember the bathroom had fresh towels while I was out). Internet speed was fine for a hotel which was great as most people here aren't here for work. Elevators can be wonky and if you're on the first floor, noises from people at the pool can be heard (it wasn't too bad for me as no one was out there at night). If the price is reasonable, I'd stay again. read more

This place is a dump!!! We stayed here only one night. We were going to stay for two, but it was so bad, we left early. It's very pretty when you walk into the lobby, but it all goes downhill from there. To begin with, we asked for an ADA room on an upper floor. As soon as we got into the elevator, it started to violently shake, like an earthquake. It was so bad, we didn't even go into the original room because I was not comfortable with using that elevator one more time. We were given a tiny ADA ground floor room instead. The room seemed fine until we started to settle in. The bathroom was advertised as an ADA room with a roll-in shower. No, it was an old tiny tub with a bunch of ADA bars on the walls. The shower head was so loose that it made it hard to use. The faucet was not properly attached to the wall. I thought is was going to come off in my hand. The tub was so narrow that I almost fell while showering. Again, this was supposed to be an ADA accessible bathroom. The bath towels were sized for children, they didn't even cover my body. The advertised "special" soaps and washes were so highly fragranced that they were unusable. One light switch controlled the fan and a bright overhead light. There was no way to have one or the other. There was another switch that controlled another light in the ceiling. It was apparently on a timer, it just looked like a regular switch. So, while using the toilet, I ended up sitting in the dark. The whole room was dingy, dirty, and looked like a throwback from the 70s. The desk chair looked like it had cigarette burns in the seat, on further inspection it was just wear and tear. The alarm clock was so old that it had an iPod dock on it. Who uses those anymore??? The cabinet door where the refrigerator had a broken hinge and was falling off. The AC only worked on and off, it was basically useless. The pool area was just as dingy and old. The bottoms of the pool and jacuzzi had patches of cement missing. I t was so gross, I didn't want to get in. On a positive note, the staff here was lovely. Steven, at the front desk, took very good care of us, trying to find a room that would fit our needs. The early morning person, I didn't get his name, was also very helpful. Honestly, this place looked like an old timeshare property that they tried to update into a cute little Boho Boutique. But, they must have hired the cheapest and most inexperienced contractors, or perhaps a family member, to do the job. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Next day! Bed is comfortable. Cozy. The fitness room opens at 6. Got in there at that time. Small, little fitness room,but works and they still have a Shazam. Got on him and had a good workout with music blasting! Continental breakfast up next. They have a large variety of options. There was no coffee and no oatmeal left around 7:40am. Had to find a worker to replace and it took a while to get. They didn't have any meat like ham or sausage, etc. Luckily, the breakfast was really good! Watermelon, hard bouled egg, oatmeal with brown sugar and a banana half. Good coffee too! Mother had the same except added more toppings to her oatmeal and had a bagel with cream cheese too. She thought it was good also. We ate in the dining area where the breakfast was. Small, but nice. Open to all customers. Shortly later , got everything together and checked out. The worker was kind. First and foremost, we chose this hotel for the clean and inviting pool and hot tub. After a long drive, a nice hot tub at the end of the day really marks an adventure. The rooms are modern. World of Hyatt reward program sent me an email to alert me about my points about to expire this year. I need use the points or stay at a hotel. I got nervous. So I started searching for my Silicon Valley stay. The Hyatt branded hotels were really out of my budget. When I searched further, I found a new brand under Hyatt umbrella - Joie de Vivre collection. Just so happen, Hotel Avante is right in the middle of my venues. Booking online was a breeze. Thanks to the World of Hyatt member discount. It's cheaper than any other group discounts. Due to the first day of my trip wasn't available, I cut my vacation short to match my reservation. So far so good. The photos from emails I received were very quaint to modern taste. I really thought I hit a jackpot to stay at a new hotel. When I arrived to see if I could check in early, my enthusiasm got wiped. This hotel was converted from an older hotel and front desk person didn't wear anything to identify the hotel or himself. I drove away with disappointment but I wanted to keep my hope up for a good vacation. So I decided to lower my expectations when I see my room. And that worked, it was much better than I expected. Thank goodness. Hotel Avante is a cute boutique hotel. I was very happy to see it has a resemblance and comfort of Hyatt Place where I used to stay, except a smaller footage. The bathroom was fully equipped with everything I need. They looked spanking new and everything was functioning. My only concern was the refrigerator hid in the cabinet below TV. I found a candy bar in there. Oh, the room had full of drinks and snacks with price tags. The desk had stuff for kids activity. Very thoughtful. I wanted to fully experience this hotel. I spent about half hour laying in the sun by poolside. They offer towels for guests using the area. I heard hip music playing softly from Bose speakers above lounge chairs. This area opens from 6 am to 10 pm. It looked fabulous at night. I couldn't take photos because there were kids playing in the pool. I didn't get to use hotel's free Wi-Fi because it kept dropping. I think I need to upgrade in order to get a better service. That's okay because I found Xfinity WiFi from apartment next door and it was much more reliable. I also tried to watch TV but it was too hard to operate, so I went to sleep. Next morning, I got up early to enjoy the hot breakfast. I think this breakfast was the best part of my hotel stay because it was made fresh. I really appreciate the kitchen staff. Unfortunately, none of the staff wore name tags or uniform. I didn't know who to send compliments to. I had a very pleasant stay up to check out time. My sister came to help me pack. While I was gathering stuff, she received a call from front desk at 11:08 telling us we were late to check out. Wait a minute. I received an email telling me the check out time was 12:00. The welcome envelop says "11 noon". The door says 11 am. We were rushing to leave the room and forgot to take out my expensive yogurt from the refrigerator. I waited few weeks to write this review because I was fuming that day. I talked to friends on social media to calm me down. I also voiced my concerns with the management because I really hope to stay at Hotel Avante again. read more

While staying in the San Jose area we chose to stay at 2 different hotels and this was the second. Hotel Avante is a part of the Joi De Vivre group that was recently acquired by the Hyatt group. Our experience was pleasant. Other than the shaky elevator we enjoyed every facet of our stay. It was a reasonable price and value for what is on the premises. In our brief stay, every employee was extremely courteous and accommodating. A gentleman at the front desk by the name of Steve/Stephen was pleasant and gave us a good overall impression of the area and the hotel. He represented the property well and had a good demeanor. The hotel  was very well managed, very clean, and comfortable. They had nice thoughtful touches like lobby beverages, happy hour refreshments, and a nice breakfast included with our stay. We liked the color scheme from the lobby to our room and overall it was excellent in all respects. Our room was considered a suite and although the view of the street was nothing special the room was very comfortable and included nice Jonatan Adler toiletries in the bathroom. Our room #305 was right by the elevator but we did not have much of an issue with the sounds from the street or the hallway. We liked the little etch-a-sketch and Rubik's cube on the desk and the couch of our suite. The room was so comfortable for us and slept very well. The hotel is not the newest, but everything has charm and that boutique feel that gives it character. The p rice is not expensive and the room was good! I think I would stay here again if I were in the area. We were here on the weekend so I didn't get a chance to check out the Google campus but I liked it's proximity to the freeway and their downtown area. read more

I spent 2 nights during a business trip and was curious to see this so-called boutique hotel. Well, far from the chic that is advertised. Just a normal hotel that with the construction going on in the lobby seems more like a hostel. Nice staff, decent breakfast with chia parfait, fruits, juices and good coffee, comfortable room, good bathroom. However, not the cute boutique hotel and not mid century nothing no matter how they advertise that the look belongs to that style. If mid century means from the 1950s maybe that is what they really mean...that the building is old with facade painted and you get the impression that popcorn ceiling was removed just yesterday. Be aware that there are homeless at night either inside the hotel or outside by the adjacent complex. For 2 nights I have to hear someone yelling 'welcome to the queer valley' and cursing in super loud voice. Bring earplugs. Cute art in the walls all over. read more

I had a free night at any Hyatt property Category 4 or under and used it here when we had an event in South Bay. The hotel is obviously a flip of an old hotel with some new art and furniture, but still felt old. The bathroom was tiny and had a shower with a curtain, no tub. It did the trick, but don't expect it to feel luxurious in any way. I did appreciate the ample and free parking out front and the free breakfast wasn't awful. As for location, it was close to some grocery stores and a few minutes away from downtown Mountain View. All in all, worth the low price point but not a place I'd be eager to revisit. read more

I chose this hotel mainly on price vs. location. There are a lot of hotels in the area, but many seemed quite pricey. This one was well-reviewed and reasonably priced. It is located between Sunnyvale and Mountain View right on El Camino Real, the main north-south (non-freeway) road in Silicon Valley. They had adequate parking. They also let us check in about an hour early when we arrived, for which we were grateful. The room was not cramped at all and the bed was comfortable. At night, it seemed fairly quiet. I never recall noise being an issue during the 3 nights we stayed. Breakfast is included and is plain but adequate. During the weekend the room was always open when we arrived. On our last day (a Monday) when we were trying to get an early start, the room was locked even just after the 5:30 a.m. start time. We were confused initially, but then discovered that it also had an electronic-key entry (it was dark outside the door, so we couldn't see that). When we checked in the clerk mentioned that they had complimentary mimosas at mid-morning (?), which is a feature I'd never heard of before. We didn't take advantage of it, as we we'd left the hotel by that time both days. Some other reviews reference a 'happy hour' but we didn't hear about that. I would definitely consider staying here again if I return to the area. read more

When you first look at the place, you start doubting yourself. After you walk in, you find that its pretty trendy, and actually a decent hotel. I wish that they had central air in the room. The room cooled down quite fast, but it because an ice bucket, and once you turn off the air, the room became hot and muggy. No win. The room was clean, quite spacious, and had many "toys" and gadgets to amuse. Shower pressure was nice, and even the toiletries was nice. The fridge and the coffee in room was a nice touch, and in the lobby was coffee and tea. Breakfast was much nicer than I anticipated. The hot food selection was pretty good, and the cold food selection was better than some B+B. We were there and were referred by a hotel down the street that was fully booked . We weren't sure if this was a good thing or not seeing they are competitors To our blessing the staff and hotel were so clean modern warm and inviting ! We made friends with everyone that worked the front ! We were specifically focused on the amazing customer service from Steve Jimenez ! His kindness and willingness to help us with everything and anything are a representation of this amazing hotel . We stayed here on April 22nd ! The room service for clean up were such kind loving ladies ! What a representation of the Silicon Valley !!! Wow !! The people here are so kind , friendly , loving and real ! We sure hope we can come stay again with you ! Thanks to hotel Tonight is how we found them ! I give this hotel and staff a ten star if we could ! We love you all and hope to see you all working there for many many more years to come Thank you for making us feel welcome , safe and that it was so so so clean. Hotel is old with thin walls. The tub doesn't drain fast enough to take a shower without standing in 2" of water within about 1 minute. The desk and nightstand were dirty and sticky when I arrived. The bathtub and office chair had hair on it that isn't mine. The sheets and blankets had several holes. A bigger issue I had was the "cleaning" service that I requested not to have. Upon checking in, I selected the option for no one to clean my room. Someone later did "clean" my room...but moved all of my dirty laundry onto my clean items (such as my personal toiletries, medications, and snacks). I asked the front desk why this happened and they were not very helpful, other than saying once again that no one would be cleaning my room in the future even though this was already confirmed during check in. I'm not at all confident that this is true since it was false before. The room rate was very high considering the service is at best similar to cheap motels. I have actually had better experiences at motels, and this was by far the worst hotel/motel stay I have ever experienced. read more
