On our way up to west palm, I was craving a hot dog for lunch and remembered bookmarking this place. I'm not a fan of Chicago dogs -- too many toppings and that lime green relish just never appealed to me. I was raised on all beef Nathan's and sabretts and this place does have a New York dog, but after reviewing the menu in advance, I knew I wanted something a bit more adventurous. I chose their chicken apple dog cooked well done plain on a toasted bun and their lamb dog (again well done on a toasted bun). I figured I'd doctor them my selves with the side condiments. I also got a side of onion rings (BurgerFi has nothing to worry about) -- they were just okay. The dogs were wonderful. The chicken had a nice bite outside with little chunks (apple?) in it. It was light and I felt like I was eating healthy... I split the lamb dog with my hubby. It had oregano and garlic in it. You could smell the spices emanating from the well done dog. If you like grilled lamb, you will like this. FYI it was the plain lamb one not the Greek one they will suggest to you. My hubby had their Italian hot sausage which came piled on top with green peppers and onions and mustard. He liked it but it's not my thing;too spicy for me. This is my fourth visit here & this place is strongly growing on me. I have been slowly working my way though the game sausage menu. Today, I tried the duck! This was great. It is infused with cheeses and jalapeño! I had mine topped with grilled onions and mustard. I also ordered a CHICAGO HOT DOG. Once again, perfection in a bun! Very very very good as always. WOW, what a great place for a hot dog. From the regular to the more elaborated I can almost say they are all good. I had the Chicago style hot dog with the polish sausage (hot dog). The casing has a great "snap as you bite into it and juices run out through your mouth and you know you just hit flavortown! The bread itself is not the best but it can still hold the toppings and sauces without falling apart. Also ordered from the specialty list the "wild boar sausage" wich is filled with jalapeno and cheese. What a great bite. Super good, cooked perfectly. To that one, I added the Korean style toppings with Kimchi. I felt that the Kimchi overpowers the flavors of the actual sausage but still a great hot dog. Love that you also have great selection of beers and sodas. Big plus. I will definitely come back to try different interpretations of this American classic. It's well worth the trip. As a Detroiter, I'm a bit biased to our Hot Dogs. But I have to say, these were excellent! I had it with the works.

Came here because the name was funny, but the hot dogs are no joke! We've only tried the bison dog and the Peking dog (a yummy combo of beef hot dog, pineapple salsa, hoisin, and duck bacon) but both are delicious and made to order. Though we are not from Chicago this place really seems to have it's Chicago bonafides in order (poppy seed buns, jars of sport peppers all over). Bonus: Fries here are on the less greasy side too. Yesterday I found out there is a huge difference between a Chicago and a NY style hot dog. I have never been to Chicago and I am from NY (obviously). I am not sure what the Chicago experience is actually like, so I will just tell you about my own experience. At 5:15 the place was empty. One customer came in during the time I was in the restaurant. Although the lady who helped me was very nice, I felt rushed. I have no idea why since I was the only person there. The small dining room had assorted tables and chairs, not really matching. There is a ton of counter space to grab a stool and grab a quick bite. Don't come here for the ambiance, it's basically a room with tables. Nothing fancy, and I found this to be a breath of fresh air; being in Boca and all. You know what I mean. I work in Boca so I see it everyday. I just wanted a basic hot dog with mustard and saurerkraut. At first the poppy seed roll surprised me, I mean they don't do that in NY and I never saw that before. Maybe in Chicago that's how it's done. I don't know. I don't like poppy seeds so I ate my hot dog with a fork and knife. Less calories and carbs, so I was more than fine with not eating the roll. The actual hot dog was good. Again, not what I am accustomed too, but still good. It was nothing like a Nathan's or Sabrett dog. Just different and it was not skinless so it had a good snap when I cut into it. My knish was different. It was a Gabila's which I grew up on and totally love. However, they deep fried my knish and it was saturated in oil. I ate a few bites of it and I just couldn't finish it. I guess I'll head to Ben's next time I want a kosher style hot dog and a properly prepared potato knish. This is just my preference. Being this place has awesome reviews I am sure I just ordered the wrong thing. I hear the Korean dog is awesome. They have a large selection of specialty sausages and hot dogs. Some people enjoy a Buffalo Wing topped dog and that's fine. I'm just not one of those people. Give me a little mustard and saurerkraut and I'm good. I will be back. I'm eager to try the Hummus Pita that has sun dried tomatoes and cucumber dressing. The Chicken Caesar Pita is another thing I will be trying too. The prices are very inexpensive! My knish, hot dog and a bottle of water was just about eight dollars. Such a deal. I will update my review as I try new things. Based upon yesterdays meal I am leaving this as three stars for now. Like I said, I probably just ordered the wrong things. The Lamb, Oregano and Garlic infused game sausage does sound intriguing. Maybe I'll bring a friend to try it with me. So Carol was craving corn dogs(it's a Texas State Fair thing), we were in Laurel Mississippi and they have a Corn Dog place that we found out was closedown due the virus. We tried stopping at Nathan's on the Florida Turnpike for it but alas they too are closed due to the Covid. Well after reading the reviews on Yelp, we decided to drive to Boca for some dogs. Delicious and fresh. The Chicago dog had all the right toppings. My Reuben dog was fantastic and Carol's corny was just like she got them at the State Fair. In the mood for a hot dog? This is your place! The standard here is the Chicago Dog - Vienna beef hotdog, with pickles, hot peppers, tomato, celery sauce on a poppy seed roll - other toppings available. It's pretty tasty, and must be pretty authentic because loads and loads of folks from Chicago stop by, as evidenced by the huge map of Chicago with hundreds of pushpins in all the neighborhoods representing the origins of past customers! Kathy and I each had one of these - pretty tasty but watch out for the little hot peppers - they have a bit of a bite , and more importantly, if you bite on one end, the juice comes squirting out the other! While this traditional Chicago dog has a lot to offer, my wife said she found the whole thing messy and hard to eat - too much of a good thing - and preferred the plain hot dog with mustard and relish. (The relish is an amazing glowing green color that resembles nothing found in nature!) They also feature sausages made from a variety of different game meats - boar, venison, rabbit, buffalo, etc - today I opted for the lamb sausage served with Tazikki and crumbled feta cheese. The sausage was delicious! However, it was piled high with crumbled feta cheese, most of which I brushed off because it was falling off and over everything as I tried to eat the sausage, and because feta is a strong tasting cheese and this much of it overwhelmed the taste of the lamb sausage. My wife suggests that this creation would be improved if it was made with less feta cheese, and if the cheese were placed on the bottom of the roll, with the hot dog and sauce on top of it. They have a great assortment of Boylan soda here, as well as other soft drinks. We split a diet cola, but in the past I have had other flavors and enjoyed them immensely. Here are a couple of tips - get on the mailing list: my wife is and was sent a coupon for 20% off our order. We had 2 Chicago dogs, one plain dog, one lamb sausage and one soda and the bill was about $20 - a pretty good deal made even better with the coupon bringing the price down to about $16! Also, there is a frequent buyer card - get one. We come to FL a few times a year and always stop here (my wife loves hotdogs!) and the punches add up quickly. I love Chicago style hot dogs but I say "Chicago style" rather than Chicago hot dogs since I've never really enjoyed the flavor of the Vienne beef, its greasy consistency or lingering taste. So, unless I made my own using a different dog I've been somewhat out of luck. That is up until now with my introduction to HotDog-opolis. Here there is a choice, and what a wide choice it is. Besides traditional dogs they also have wild boar, duck, lamb, elk, venison, ostrich, buffalo, rabbit, chicken, pheasant, crocodile, and my favorite, Kobe beef from 100% wagyu; which is a selection far more extensive than I've seen elsewhere. Plus, they do the Chicago style justice using Vienna neon relish with just the right amount of celery seed along with its other traditional ingredients. Then, even better the number of styles in which they will prepare you dog. Everything from Colombian fully dressed with pineapple, pink sauce, cheese, chips with quail egg to a Peking with duck bacon and Hoisin sauce; which is just to name a few. As for the establishment itself, it's a "hole in the wall" of place located next to a tattoo parlor, but hot dog places aren't supposed to be fancy. Given the marvelously large selection all deliciously prepared I can't go less than Five Stars. As an aside, I've noted that there are a few who refuse to eat here because of the contention that HotDog-opolis serves "exotic" meats. Well, that is only if you qualify it by the fact that you may not find the likes of ostrich, elk or crocodile in your local Publix. I think the confusion lies between what may be termed as "exotic" and that which is in fact "endangered" as all of these exotic selections are non-endangered, farm raised. Going back for a Chicago Dog (first time I tried it was a surprise, the only thing the owner and I discussed is getting it on a jumbo or foot long vice a regular dog) and the Peking Dog (liked the saucing, which I preferred to the Kimchi Dog though I did like the chinese mustard on the Kimchi Dog). I would give it four stars for the hotdog and sauerkraut which were DELICIOUS, a 1 for the bun that got too soggy under the wetness of the kraut and a -1 for the grumpy guy at the front counter. I am an extremely pleasant person. It takes a lot for me to be unnerved. He's just curt and when I went back inside, to do what I thought was the right thing and bring in my tray, he yelled at me from across the restaurant and kept pointing to take it back outside. Who knew?! Why yell? Why point? The only reason I'm even saying this, is that I stopped there once before when they weren't open he rudely told me they were closed! Not necessary. I love dawgs. Hot Dogs. I'm an unrepentant carnivore in this respect, but like veggie dogs too. If you looking to eat some great hot dogs out - then look no further than Hot Dog Opolis. Yes, they have other food as well, but you know who the star of the show is here from the name of the establishment. HDO is family run and their signature dish is the Chicago Dog. I got it and it was pretty darn good. They have a number of other foods as well, but the variety of hot dogs is what sets them apart. Fries, desserts and beers are all great here as well. It's a family run business and they take care to give the best customer service possible. So why only four stars? The buns. The standard hot dog buns they use are akin to Wonder Bread. They are wimpy and dissolve into nothing while you're eating the important parts. I found it overly messy and disconcerting, and not easy to clean up using the super-thin napkins they provide. I'm not sure if they can upgrade the buns, but I was definitely not impressed by the ones my daughter and I got. They tasted okay, but didn't help the dawg shine. I'll be returning to try their other offerings, but I'll be sure to go at an off time as service is slow at the counter. Well this place has a few things going for it and some not so great things going for it. We came with a Groupon and on a Sunday lunch rush. It was about 1 to 130 pm and the line stayed consistently about 5 orders deep through about 145 pm. Interesting to note, lots of delivery orders kept coming in so the orders get interrupted and have to wait a minute while those are fulfilled at the front of the line. There is no air conditioning and my boyfriend loved how they had a fountain soda dispenser, but I guess that broke so both those things are kind of sad. Although there is a fan blowing decently I'd still recommend avoiding this place on a really hot day. They honored the Groupon through our phone which is $10 for $20. I picked out the Peking hot dog and made it a meal for an extra $3.99 which includes a drink and fries. Everything either includes caffeine, HFCS, or alcohol. So I opted for a bottle of water. My boyfriend ordered a foot long with chili and made it a meal too. He got fries and a bottle of Gold unsweetened tea. He had meant for it to also include a can of soda, but that wasn't heard in the total order. We both asked for our fries without salt. He also got a whole pickle. The total came to $24. So all in all we paid $15 for 2 people, which seems like a good deal overall. While we waited for our food there were plenty of people to look at orders as they were placed at tables and interesting modifications to hear as they were ordered. I noted a hot sauce area with a bunch of bottled hot sauces, and a condiment area. When I first noted the condiment squeeze bottles it was only ketchup and mustard, it wasn't till leaving someone had placed out a brown spicy mustard bottle which I really would have liked. While it does seem like there are an overwhelming amount of toppings and choices at the establishment they do have a lot premade ideas to choose from, so initial ordering can be fairly painless if you stick with what you know you like. Or hey, just go for the traditional Chicago Dog. I can't wait to go back and try it. The Peking dog is a large hot dog, almost too big and salty with salty thick cut sweet duck bacon, that does not actually taste like duck, but is deep fried fairly crisp and is visibly streaked with a ton of fat. Not the healthiest choice, but hey, you are here for a hot dog right? It is also topped with scallions and a smear of pineapple pulp, and a tiny drizzle of hoisin sauce. All of this makes salty, sweet, sweet, sweet. I would prefer it cut with red onion to give some real crunch (their was nothing crunchy on it) and some sharper contract to flavor to break up the sweetness. I added sriracha which worked well enough. Also to note, if I order a hot dog here again I'm going to get it lightly toasted. If you get one that is drippy with sauce I doubt the squishy poppy seed bun that is served with some of these will hold up. There is also an Asian hot dog that has kimchi, red onion, and Chinese hot mustard which I think will suffer from the opposite problem. All bitter and no sweet. That would be better from scallions which are always in proper kimchi instead of red onion. It seems to me that likely the people who designed the sandwiches probably don't regularly eat the combos. My boyfriend thought the chili on his hot dog was a bit bland and added a little bit of Tabasco to it. Not really for heat but for some contrast. He loves the fries, I thought they could have been fried a little more. Mine were mostly limp and cooked just till barely warm, almost like the fryer wasn't up to temp. Not crisp or hot. I ran out of water in my bottle, so they did provide a cold cup of water upon asking. So it's good to know they have that from a pitcher in the fridge. Taking a look at the serving window the kitchen is huge! It's about twice the size of the seating and ordering area. My boyfriend was wondering why a small place needs such a big kitchen. I thought they may do catering or something. To note, if you bring a crowd you'd probably fill half of the restaurant. It's pretty small. Only has about 7 or 8 small tables and some seating along the wall. They do have a large menu with kind of an eclectic section. They have Asian, American, Greek, and Jewish food all mixed together. And every kind of hot dog/sausage they can get their hands on affordably as can be imagined. Not the greatest experience for the price in my mind, but it did the job of getting me full. Though the average person would need more food than I ordered to be full. I only ate half my fries. drank about 3 cups worth of water, and ate my whole hot dog. To be fair though, I was hungry a few hours later. So not the best quality food either. I think I may try two hot dogs next time, skip the fries, and get a beer. Other than a classic Chicago it may be worth taking the time to make up your own combo. I'm from California and I don't know anyone from California who would eat their CA hot dog. read more

After living in Chicago I was hoping to get a good Italian Beef Sandwich. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the flavor of the beef which seemed to be oven baked and not slow baked with Italian spices. I ordered the juice on the side which did not have the flavor of being cooked with the beef . More like a beef broth w dried spices added. All was very bland.
