I've been a fan of Five Guys for a long time, ever since I had my first Five Guys burger in Maryland back in 2007. But as I ponder the lackluster meal that we just had, it's clear that my fandom has really been on the decline for the last few years and that I've been going out of habit more than real enjoyment. My experience at this branch today sort of encapsulates everything that has gone wrong with this franchise over the last 3 yrs or so and it's a decline that has been steady and noticeable at some branches. Whereas I used to get a juicy burger and hot flavorful fries along with quick service every time, I now get dried out burgers that can't be saved by an abundance of toppings, oversalted and lukewarm fries and unbearably slow service more than not. Today I ordered take away thru Google for the first time. They gave an estimate of 10 minutes for the order to be ready, so I timed my departure to ensure arrival when I could just stop by, grab everything and go. Unfortunately when I got there the food was not ready. There were a few people in front of me but it did not look particularly crowded or busy so it wasn't like they were backed up. The issue was that the five workers who were there weren't moving very fast or in a methodical manner. There were 4 workers who were 90% joking with each other and 10% making food and one person who was bagging up the take away and occasionally running to the grill to flip burgers and take fries out of the fryer. Nobody on the team was hustling. Nobody seemed to mind or notice that people were waiting. As I stood there and watched all of this I couldn't help but be fascinated by the clear lack of management, training and the concept of giving a shit. Nobody seemed to care. I watched as 10 minutes for pickup turned into 20 and more. The workers were moving at agonizingly slow speed. It crushed me to watch as all of the incomplete orders sat there getting colder and colder as they were slowly getting everything together. The fries in my order were done first, but those sat and lost heat as the 5 employees took ages to get 3 burgers cooked and in the bag. Burger, burger, burger, fries, fries, fries. What's the problem? How is this taking 20 plus minutes on a slow night? I finally got the bag of food in hand and was on my way. When we got home we were disappointed to see that the burgers were way over cooked and dried out. The fries were okay but crazy, crazy salty, way more than they usually use. Halfway through the meal I started wondering why I even bother eating this mediocrity and why I patronize this franchise any longer. The food is simply not as good or consistent as it used to be and there are many other options to choose from. One star for this Five Guys. They need to up their game quite a bit. read more

I order the little cheeseburger and a regular fry. The difference between the little burger and the normal cheeseburger is an extra meat patty. Their burgers are always so good! You can never go wrong with five guys if you're craving a good tasting burger. They have so many garnish options to addon also. The burger was very juicy and flavorful without leaving you feeling like you just ate a bucket of fat.(sorry for my expression). The fries are also salted well, and taste like potatoes. If you're craving a good burger you definitely need to check this restaurant out for the best burgers in boca raton! It will definitely satisfy your craving! I stopped at Laspada's the other day & noticed we have a Five Guys right here in Boca! This location is fairly clean and in my opinion, larger than the Delray store. A friend of mine disagrees with me on this so maybe he's right, who knows. I had the little hamburger because it's the only single patty they have and it's still a decent size. They wouldn't wrap it in lettuce for me which surprised me since some of the other locations do it all the time. Not a big deal and I ate my burger off the bun. Toppings, toppings and more toppings! I love the sauteed onions and mushrooms (no upcharge) and they were good. I also asked for pickles on the side and those were good too. My burger was a little greasy so I didn't finish it but my friend did and he didn't think it was greasy at all. He also thinks I am overly picky, imagine that. He had a double with cheese with multiple toppings and he gobbled it up in minutes. We split the small fries and we barely put a dent in it. They really load up the fries so my suggestion is to always share. The fries are made fresh to order and are cooked in pure cholesterol free peanut oil and are delicious. I feel Five Guys is a step up from McDonald's, Burger King, etc., but it's still fast food. It is made with all fresh ingredients so that's a plus. This was my first time at this location. This Five Guys is pretty typical, as they all are in terms of their decor and all, however I really liked that I could go in and get my meal in just about under 6 min :-D I do like the location; it's located in a plaza with several other restaurants, including a juice bar directly across the street, which was how I found them in the first place. Prices are all the same, and the quality of food is always in point- nothing's changed here. Went back here for first time in many years. Very disappointed. Prices are extremely expensive for what you get. Had a junior burger for $7.99 and a small fry for $4.99 and a soda. Check was $16.59. The burger was greasy , i always loved their fries. Generous amount but dripping in grease. Table was dirty and had to wipe it down. There was only two other people in the restaurant. While this virus is allowing take out - i came to pick up my order and was completely impressed by what I saw! Constant cleaning- changing gloves between touching any thing from the next order, the toppings, the stove, the bag. These guys work so hard and are always talking and interacting with the customers as they wait for their order. They also taped a line by tape to separate people while they wait to place orders. This is by far the worst service I've ever received. This is the 3rd separate time I've come to this location and it's taken over 20 minutes to make a cheese burger. Five Guys is probably the most greasiest, messiest, unhealthy burger around... but I will continue to chow down on it! What do I always order? Little Cheeseburger with: lettuce, tomato, ketchup, relish and pickles. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes I get a little ambitious and I add hot sauce. Their burgers are always perfectly cooked... and the bread is always perfectly toasted and buttery and delicious at all the same time. I don't know what they put on the bread that I always end up eating every last bite. Never... and I say NEVER leave without getting Cajun fries. Ok, but listen to me. If you are eating solo... get a small fries, not regular. What I love about Five Guys is that they will give you a small fries... but then they throw basically another small (amount) of fries in your bag. You're getting a regular amount anyway. I had my first Five Guys burger a few months back at the Margate location, and raved about it to anyone who would listen. So I was really looking forward to this meal, but sadly it left me feeling underwhelmed. One of the features I liked so much about Five Guys is that they make the burgers well done but still juicy. I don't like seeing pink in ground beef. It's probably a psychological thing, but I just don't like it. As for the fries, I wasn't a HUGE fan but they were pretty good before. So I sat down for this meal, only to find the fries were barely cooked and had an almost raw potato taste to them. And the burger, although it still tasted pretty good (not as good as the one in Margate, however), was definitely very pink in the middle. Needless to say, I didn't leave here in a post-burger euphoria. Perhaps I caught them on a bad night. But if this had been my first Five Guys meal, I wouldn't have understood all of the hype. So if you've heard all of the raving reviews of this place and are going to give it a try, I'd suggest trying the Margate location (on Atlantic Blvd and Rock Island Rd) instead. read more

Everyone's raving about 5 Guys so of course, I have to try it. Meet my sister, and her coworkers for lunch and there's a wait line. Thankfully it moves fast. Plus, they have peanuts for you to have while you wait. Really like that they have the "Little" burger options on their menu, a regular one would be too much for me and make me unable to work the rest of the day. Pair that with their fries (really good and a Large is enough to share) and you're good to go. The other thing my sister's friends like to do is order some burgers and hot-dogs for the table and share, that way the get to have "the best of everything" (as they say) every time. In the pantheon of great burger joints, Five Guys stands behind all time leaders like Tommy's Original and Fatburger in Los Angeles, and In and Out in the Southwest. In the East though, there are few that go toe-to-toe with them for great hamburgers. They have boxes of peanuts for you to nibble on while you wait for your burger, a wait, I might add, that isn't htat long. Their fries are cooked in peanut oil, and are absolutely fresh. That being said, I'll still take In and Out's fresh fries because they don't tend to overcook them as much as they do at Five Guys. The burgers are fresh meat, generously portioned, and you can add a slew of toppings to them. Some days are better than others for the burgers.
