I kept reading about how Huey Magoo's had really amazing chicken and I've been wanting to stop by forever. I should say that I don't usually get chicken tenders that are breaded and fried I go with the grilled, and I usually go to Chick-fil-A to get it. They do a really good job. But I was definitely curious to see what Huey Magoo's was all about. So I stopped by with my kid on Thursday after school. I got three grilled tenders and fries. It was about 10 bucks for everything. I cant begin to tell you what a disappointment the food was. The tenders seemed microwaved and reheated. They were dry af, extremely tough hard to cut through and very chewy. It was completely disgusting. Also, my fries were lukewarm and I didn't really love the seasoning blend they used. After a few bites I knew that I was going to throw the entire thing in the garbage which I did. Luckily my kid was a good sport and we went over to Chick-fil-A to cleanse the palate so to speak. Chicken tender restaurants are popping up all over town as they are very popular, super tasty, and Huey Magoo's is one of the newest franchises in town. Located in a Southeast corner of Glades Road and 441 near the Home Depot, I decided to try this new place out and am happy to report that it is worth the visit. Sure you can order a sandwich, wrap, or even a salad, but the real star here are the chicken tenders as, according to several signs, these are apparently the best 3% of the chicken, which is the tenderloin and The Filet Mignon of Chicken® although I am not sure how that is verified vs the other chicken places in town. I decided to order a "5 Piece Meal" that had 5 Tenders, Coleslaw, Crinkle-Cut Fries, Texas Toast & Magoo's Dip - however I ordered 3 of them hand breaded and 2 of them grilled (I asked one sauced but that was not allowed) and substituted the coleslaw for another Texas toast and a large drink. The total was $16.67 including taxes. I liked the breaded chicken tenders better than the grilled version, but that is just my opinion. The texas toast was pretty good and the fries were also tasty. I liked the Magoo's dipping sauce and this added more flavor to the chicken. I also tried the blue electric lemonade and that was super tasty and I highly recommend trying that as it was a new flavor to me. So, the real question is how do these compare to other chicken tenders in town and I would stay they are pretty much similar to other competitors and not significantly better or worse. I think this is a good place to add to my lunch rotation and I am sure most everyone will enjoy this place as it is hard to go wrong with chicken tenders. read more

First time at Huey Magoo's! Place was clean. Service was quick and friendly! We tried a breaded chicken sandwich with the pickles and sauce, and a 5 tender meal. Chicken was very tasty and I really liked the sauce. Would like it to be just a slight more crispy for the chicken and fries. Will be back to try the little tender pieces. I forgot what sauce it is but it's the same color as 100 island dressing. It may be the Huey Magoo spicy sauce. Huey's = Still got it. Any UCF grad will know that Huey Magoo's holds a special place in their heart. I had high hopes for this place opening up around the corner from me, and it's safe to say it delivered. I switched up my typical tender order to see how it would fare as a sandwich. Banging. The fries are borderline elite but the star of the show is still the Huey's sauce. While I don't like the idea of having to pay extra for a small side of extra sauce, it's a must. The crispy fries and the sauce are as good as you can find anywhere. The value was pretty typical but fair and the only letdown was the lemonade was slightly underwhelming. For a tender place I was impressed on the menu. They have sandwiches, wraps, nuggets and salads and even other dipping sauces. 3:30 Saturday afternoon. Wanted a fried chicken wrap. Found Screwy Yagoos on Yelp. Went in and placed a carryout order for a wrap and fries. Added a tip. Restaurant not busy. Everyone at tables had food. Stood there for almost 15 minutes waiting. Then a guy with nasty filthy hair wearing black latex gloves and no hair net came out from the kitchen. He was obviously in contact with food. He said they ran out of tortillas for wraps and the only ones on hand were frozen. I asked why it took 15 minutes to tell me that. His hair was disgusting for being in a kitchen. I was probably lucky that he cancelled my order. I asked for Manager. He said, "I am the Manager". I said why don't you just warm up a tortilla? He said the truck just delivered them that morning!!! So??? Why didn't you take some out to thaw for the day??? Two Words if I were the Owner: YOU'RE FIRED!!! I actually went for Açaí at the place next door and I saw they opened since the last time I went (they were still under construction). So I said what the heck let's try a tender. I've eaten here a few times. The food is fine, nothing special, but what you expect. The fries are particularly delicious. The service is neither great nor terrible. You stand at a counter to order, you get your own drinks from a fountain, you retrieve your food on a plastic tray, you clear your table and throw everything in the trash. YET.... When you are ready to pay and slide in your debit card, a fresh faced teenage boy or a not so fresh faced woman looks at you and says "that doesn't include tip" When did proselytizing tips become acceptable? I always thought tipping was at the discreation of the customer. Tipping at a fast food restaurant when you receive no real service is absurd. However these cashiers glare at you and make you feel like you don't want to risk not tipping people who expect it when you've not yet received your food. For this reason, I will never return to Huey Magoo's. There are other choices in this very plaza where the food is just as good or better, and no tipping is expected. There is also another rather famous chicken restaurant only a few blocks away that doesn't ask for tips at all. Funny thing is the chicken restaurant only a few blocks away seems to have many times more cars. Take a hint Huey! I won't be returning to Huey Magoos. I have no idea why I keep giving you chance after chance when I order Uber eats and you continuously get my order wrong. It's written on the receipt. You should read them sometime. Your chicken tenders are simply OK. Typically they are very stringy. Your coleslaw is amazing, and I keep paying for it and not receiving either the entire order or 2 teeny tiny ones when I ordered 2 personal, 2 regular, and 1 large size every single time. The sandwich and fries were both nice but I didn't taste anything that differentiated the experience from a Zaxby's. A co-worker recommended Huey Magoo's to me recently as we were discussing how my kids love chicken tenders. I had never been to Huey's before, but decided to try it one day after work. I had the nicest, most patient team members help me with my order, Chanel and Tee. They both guided me through the menu and even let me sample a chicken tender with their signature sauce. They were so helpful and kind! The chicken tenders were excellent and full of flavor! They came out hot and fresh. In my opinion, the tenders had more flavor and tasted better then Raising Canes tenders which are a bit more bland. The signature sauce is delicious!! It's thick and creamy and really nice and peppery. It paired extremely well with the tenders. The homemade ranch was great too! We ordered a family meal and had plenty of food. We have eaten at Huey Magoo's a countless times now and this time was the worse service we have received. We came in with a gift card and took about 15 minutes for the staff to try and use it on our meal after we were told our meal was covered, we were still charged. After that it took 22 minutes for our food to come out. Of course the quality of the food is amazing, but spending almost 40 minutes in a quick service restaurant is not ideal. read more
