Fresh chips and salsa re always very good! Try the spicy green salsa (you have to ask for it) - favor packed! I even take a large container home to go and put it on my grilled protein to make it much less boring. The food is very good. Chicken soup is awesome and I always order the carne asada entree, and sub a salad. Their house dressing is so tasty!! Definitely order a side of dressing even if you don't get a salad lol. Very high value for what you get. It's a little comfy and clean "hole in the wall place" that's perfect to unwind and have good local Mexican food that hits the spot. So, here's where having an actual recipe helps, so if there's more than 1 cook, the food tastes consistent! My niece ate here once & LOVED it, but conceded that this time, it wasn't the same. I was getting auto tags done right next door to Fran's and remembered that it had been on my "to try" list forever. My daughter and I were actually pretty hungry so we decided to pop in! We each went with 3 tenders and a side of potatoes and gravy. Took about 10 mins to get our order. What a pleasant surprise the food was. The chicken was super fresh, like right out of the fryer fresh and it was absolutely perfect. Way better than any fast food chain could ever make. The potatoes were creamy and delicious as well. Fran's sauce has a nice spicy kick, and the coleslaw is decent, but that's about it. Rolls are tiny, cold, and forgettable. Sweet tea is overly sweet, even for "homemade." Ok this will be short and sweet...Fran's Chicken is delicious!!!! While others try to come up with fancy ways of cooking chicken and different sauces they don't. Fran's sticks to the basics of great old school style fried chicken. We ordered three 2 piece white meals minus the coleslaw (extra fries). The chicken was seasoned well, had a nice crunch, was juicy and wasn't greasy. The fries were your typical crinkle cut, but they dropped them when we ordered so they were hot and fresh. Well. I cannot mislead you nor will I offer an excuse. This is the FIRST time I tried Fran's chicken Heaven. And I've lived in East Boca for 18 years. When I drove north on Federal Highway and looked to the left, I would see signage which looked like it was from the '60s, in a run down shopping strip, and it was Fran's Chicken Heaven. And as each year passed, I would think "this place has got to be good, or else how could it have survived so long". And each time I said to my husband "let's check her out". His response would be "no, we don't eat fried chicken and it looks like a dump". And honesty, we was right on both counts. I was doing errands by myself and after leaving Publix in the Fifth Avenue Shops, , I decided to check her out. And yes, the signage is very old and the front of the store is run down looking and when you enter you see a place with a few tables, lots of old menus with pictures hanging from the ceiling and walls and the open fryers for the chicken and potatoes. And you smell the aroma of fried chicken. And you see how clean and orderly the cooking area is maintained. And how the pricing is easy to understand. And you'll meet KEVIN, as I did on that day, and he immediately asks how he can help you. And I responded "this is my first time here and I need to look at the menus and ask you questions". He was understanding, was working on an order and offered to help when I was ready. And I did need some help with the menu as I didn't want any combos, and they had many. My husband only eats white meat so I decided to get two breasts for him and two legs for me. Kevin explained that he would prepare them as everything was cooked to order and the chicken wasn't cooked and kept in a holding area until someone walked in. It's all cooked fresh. And that sounded good. I got the chicken parts, and couldn't resist ordering well done crispy fries, cooked before my eyes. And a small portion of mashed potatoes and gravy. He declared "we have the best mashed potatoes, made daily, and everything is prepared daily". Can't beat that. Kevin and I spoke about the photos on the wall which included one of Fran (Google her for her interesting background), and in a couple of minutes my order was ready. Neatly packed. Carefully placed in a paper bag. And off I was. Credit cards accepted. Leave a generous tip. When home, was excited about eating the food. Fried chicken was quite good. Large breasts. Small legs. 1st time visit! 5 STAR Chicken & Waffle experience! Impulse Buy! Watching a TV Show and Breakfast was the topic and Chicken & Waffles was what they were serving up, so I grabbed my phone, checked Yelp for Chicken & Waffle spots and Frans came up. Got in my car and went to Frans for a Togo order. I Put my order in and walked next door to the convenience store for a few items. When I got back my order was ready and packed to go. Prepared quickly. Service with a smile! On the Ride home the smell of the food was making me more hungry. Couldn't wait to get home. Meal came with a large waffle, 2 big pieces of chicken, large container of syrup and 3 butter packs. The butter was soft and spread easy on the waffle. I picked the chicken apart and put on the waffle, drizzled the syrup and went to town. Amazing! Definitely Award winning! The waffle had great flavor. A great waffle! The Butter was even delicious! They use good butter. The chicken was delicious and fried perfectly. A large breast and thigh. Juicy with a great skin crunch. The syrup was even great. Fran'sChickenHaven This tiny unassuming restaurant has been frying chicken since 1964, which in South Florida almost makes it an historical landmark. Ownership has changed hands throughout the years, and I tried the place back several years ago...but I wanted to try it out for lunch at the restaurant itself. This is primarily a takeout place due to it only having a couple of two seaters. That said, even though you place your order at the counter they delivered the food to the table. The guys were very friendly and helpful, and Tony is quite gregarious and funny. Fried chicken is one of my favorite foods, and I am picky about what constitutes good fried chicken. There is plenty of okay fried chicken in the area, but there is very little actually good fried chicken. I say this knowing that many people think that fast food fried chicken is really good. There are times that certain fast food chicken may fill a need or hankering for most people, but does it actually rise to the level of good? Or is it just good enough? Then again, many people haven't ever eaten really good chicken...not everybody's grandma could really put their foot in it. This chicken was hot and juicy; the crust was crisp and crunchy with a balanced pronounced savory flavor, without being too greasy. That describes the thigh, wing, and especially the breast. Today I had the best fried chicken that I've tried in South Florida. Pretty sure it makes it into my top five that I've tasted anywhere. If you know of a really good fried chicken out there, please let me know and I'll try it eventually if I haven't already. Yes, their fried chicken is really good, but I have to give a few other items their due as well. Their waffle is way better than most I've had. We got it without the powdered sugar because we aren't big fans of it. It came with butter and syrup, but it was great with and even without it. The outside had sufficient crispness while the inside was light and fluffy with the perfect amount of vanilla, it really made the difference in quality. Let's talk about their sides of cole slaw, and mash potatoes and gravy. Both are excellent versions of house made sides. At this point it sounds redundant, but this cole slaw had great seasoning...really one of the best I've eaten. Their mash keeps the skins on, which some folks can abide by. I've done myself occasionally but do prefer a cleaner appearance and texture. Even with the skins, the mash potatoes were pretty good, way better than just a small time chicken hut normally would have, but with the chicken gravy it carried them into something you wanted to definitely eat. My tip for this review is to get the gravy, even if you don't order the mashed potatoes...because when you dip the pieces that don't have crust attached to them into the gravy, it'll put a smile on your face. Their sides beat the hell out of ANY fast food joint's. If you are serious about your fried chicken, you owe it to yourself to try this small humble take away restaurant and try to get one of the two seaters so you can eat it the way your momma intended, hot and fresh. Realistically, even if you only like fried chicken...swing by. My lunch today, it made me Happy. read more

Well guess what, I'm saying all these things about Fran's. This was my first visit to there establishment, my son said he was taking me to a hidden gem. They did not disappoint. The chicken is cooked to order and the smell of the chicken frying will make your stomach growl... We ordered 4 wings/4 drumsticks, fries and 3 drinks. The sweet tea and lemonade was thirst quenching, I mixed the two for an amazing drink. We decided to eat the meal there which was the best decision. My grandson and I cleaned the chicken down to the bone. There was no DNA left on the bone. Only memories of how good the meal was. Tonight was the night we tried Fran's after driving by for years. We ordered online and it was ready when promised. The chicken was excellent. We had tenders, legs, and a thigh. It was crisp, well seasoned, and you could tell it was fresh, never frozen by the leg bones. The mashed potatoes with skins were OK and the gravy too. Ordered a large amount of wings for a party based on a recommendation from a friend. Wings were all ready on time when I arrived. Staff was all very nice and accommodating. Plenty of parking and inside was nice and clean. The wings themselves were awesome. We had sweet chili, BBQ and hot. The BBQ was my favorite of the 3. There was a ton of meat on the wings and they were cooked perfectly. They were wet wings so tons of flavor but also had a nice crispness to it as well. Chicken itself was good quality as well.
