It's the kinda ole time place you want to love. But for me it missed the mark. Chicken was a little dry. Potatoes ok, slaw disappointed. I like the logo! Oh well.

Sigh. I really wanted to love it & had such high hopes! The reviews were good, so why not, right? So, here's where having an actual recipe helps, so if there's more than 1 cook, the food tastes consistent! My niece ate here once & LOVED it, but conceded that this time, it wasn't the same. This was my first time & felt the chicken needed seasoning. I'm not sure if whoever cooked today forgot to also season the batter, but it was a bit bland, needed salt. Had the 4 wings combo with coleslaw & mashed potatoes with gravy, fried mac/cheese bites, & fried oreo. The mashed potatoes were nicely seasoned & the gravy was a tasty addition. The mac/cheese bites tasted more corn batter, than cheesy goodness. There is a thick batter that surrounds the oreo, so it wasn't light & fluffy. Also had the extra small potato salad. It had a nice very yellow color to it & the mayo used had a tangy, vinegary taste. It was ok, but I like mayo that doesn't have a strong vinegar taste. The coleslaw was ok. I tasted a hint of sugar, which I didn't mind. I may give it another try some other time, but the 30 minute drive really wasn't worth it to me!

Maryland chicken dine right at Fran's. Be sure to order ahead and pick up, there are only 2 tables inside. I tried the 2 piece combo with breast and wing. I upgraded to the mashed potatoes with gravy but my husband's crinkle cut fries were amazing. Somehow they didn't get all soggy by the time we made it to the local park close by to eat. The chicken skin was so crispy and flavorful! Sweet tea was a brewed fresh. Definitely will be back.

By far the best fried chicken in South Florida!! I can't speak highly enough about this place and its staff! It's great for dinner and even catering. There was so much food I even have some for later.

Ok this will be short and sweet...Fran's Chicken is delicious!!!! While others try to come up with fancy ways of cooking chicken and different sauces they don't. Fran's sticks to the basics of great old school style fried chicken. We ordered three 2 piece white meals minus the coleslaw (extra fries). The chicken was seasoned well, had a nice crunch, was juicy and wasn't greasy. The fries were your typical crinkle cut, but they dropped them when we ordered so they were hot and fresh. I would highly recommend them if you are in the mood for some great chicken. P.S. Customer service was great as well.

Well. I cannot mislead you nor will I offer an excuse. This is the FIRST time I tried Fran's chicken Heaven. And I've lived in East Boca for 18 years. When I drove north on Federal Highway and looked to the left, I would see signage which looked like it was from the '60s, in a run down shopping strip, and it was Fran's Chicken Heaven. And as each year passed, I would think "this place has got to be good, or else how could it have survived so long". And each time I said to my husband "let's check her out". His response would be "no, we don't eat fried chicken and it looks like a dump". And honesty, we was right on both counts. I was doing errands by myself and after leaving Publix in the Fifth Avenue Shops, , I decided to check her out. And yes, the signage is very old and the front of the store is run down looking and when you enter you see a place with a few tables, lots of old menus with pictures hanging from the ceiling and walls and the open fryers for the chicken and potatoes. And you smell the aroma of fried chicken. And you see how clean and orderly the cooking area is maintained. And how the pricing is easy to understand. And you'll meet KEVIN, as I did on that day, and he immediately asks how he can help you. And I responded "this is my first time here and I need to look at the menus and ask you questions". He was understanding, was working on an order and offered to help when I was ready. And I did need some help with the menu as I didn't want any combos, and they had many. My husband only eats white meat so I decided to get two breasts for him and two legs for me. Kevin explained that he would prepare them as everything was cooked to order and the chicken wasn't cooked and kept in a holding area until someone walked in. It's all cooked fresh. And that sounded good. I got the chicken parts, and couldn't resist ordering well done crispy fries, cooked before my eyes. And a small portion of mashed potatoes and gravy. He declared "we have the best mashed potatoes, made daily, and everything is prepared daily". Can't beat that. Kevin and I spoke about the photos on the wall which included one of Fran (Google her for her interesting background), and in a couple of minutes my order was ready. Neatly packed. Carefully placed in a paper bag. And off I was. Credit cards accepted. Leave a generous tip. When home, was excited about eating the food. Fried chicken was quite good. Large breasts. Small legs. Fried to perfection. The fries were crispy and well done. The mashed potatoes were def home made. The gravy was delish. And the check was around $20 with a 20% tip. Check them out. You'll become a fan. I sure was!

Epic!! My friend has been raving about this place and I heard so much about it from SoFlo foodie groups! We wanted to take a guy visiting from Cali somewhere unique with some southern soul food after picking him up from the nearby beach! My first time too -- adveeenture time!! We went with Louie's Loaded Mashed Bowl + extra gravy. This comes with mashed potatoes, gravy, fried corn nuggets, chicken, cheese and bacon all together in one hot orgie of a bowl! I love the neon sign from the outside and the old-school style that makes this place a historical landmark! They have a few tables but we got to go and munched out at James A. Rutherford Park across the street with some brewski's. Next up on the wishlist are some gizzards and liver!

Had to try their fried chicken and it was juicy and really good and tasty

1st time visit! 5 STAR Chicken & Waffle experience! Impulse Buy! Watching a TV Show and Breakfast was the topic and Chicken & Waffles was what they were serving up, so I grabbed my phone, checked Yelp for Chicken & Waffle spots and Frans came up. Got in my car and went to Frans for a Togo order. I Put my order in and walked next door to the convenience store for a few items. When I got back my order was ready and packed to go. Prepared quickly. Service with a smile! On the Ride home the smell of the food was making me more hungry. Couldn't wait to get home. Meal came with a large waffle, 2 big pieces of chicken, large container of syrup and 3 butter packs. The butter was soft and spread easy on the waffle. I picked the chicken apart and put on the waffle, drizzled the syrup and went to town. Amazing! Definitely Award winning! The waffle had great flavor. A great waffle! The Butter was even delicious! They use good butter. The chicken was delicious and fried perfectly. A large breast and thigh. Juicy with a great skin crunch. The syrup was even great. I can't speak for the other stuff on the menu but I can say with confidence that the chicken and waffle experience hit all the Marks and was a winner for me.

I was seriously craving some BBQ so after consulting with the oracle of goodness ( also known as my Yelp app) we ventured out. It is a very small place that screams authentic the moment you walk in the door. No frills. Repeat, no frills. This isn't a date night place oozing with ambiance. I could smell the pit as we walked across the parking lot and my Pavlovian response kicked in. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese, baked beans and hush puppies. I know what you're thinking, it's a lot of food but hey, don't judge me...LOL. I was amazed at the portion size. There was enough pulled pork to make three huge sandwiches. The brought out a roll in a zip lock sandwich bag and I promptly made and devoured some heavenly pork. So juicy, smoky and flavorful. The hush puppies were so good...crunchy brown on the outside, sweet and tender inside. I was popping these in my mouth and at frenetic and calorically unhealthy pace. They are delicious but moderation is advised. The baked beans were good but the mac and cheese was not on par with everything else. That's the only thing that didn't knock my socks off. My friend had the fried catfish. "Excellent" he exclaimed! Again, the portions were huge. He had fried okra and collard greens as his sides and he proclaimed them "the ultimate soul food" side dishes. The service was homey, polite and simple. Nothing fancy, just right. Needless to say it was more than we could eat and we got to-go containers to wrap up the rest for later. I only hope I can survive the oncoming food induced coma in time to rally for a big weekend. Highly recommended for serious "Q" lovers.

The restaurant seats more than 50. It's sleek with lots of black and red (to match its name). Except for one other table, it was practically empty on a Wednesday evening. Our first waitress was friendly. She brought our beverages and took our orders. After that, we got a different young lady. She also was cordial. (But got a bit testy when I went to find her so we could pay the check and leave.) We got the smothered chicken, smothered pork, fried chicken, three beverages, and two desserts. Let's start with the desserts. The peach cobbler crust was a bit thick and the peaches tasted like they were from a can. The red velvet cake was mediocre. Definitely not specially made. Now the sides. The corn bread was perfect. The red velvet corn bread was a treat. The greens were good. The rice was soaked in gravy. The yams were way too sweet. The entrees were the standout. The chicken only comes in wings. Nevertheless, they were seasoned and fried well, had a light breading, and were meaty. The pork chops were moist and savory. The smothered dishes weren't really smothered and could have used some more gravy, which lacked onions. But that didn't stop us from thoroughly enjoying them. Dinner for 3 with 3 beverages, 3 entrees, 2 desserts, tax, and tip was about $110. We hope to return and try the catfish, the turkey, and the liver and onions. P.S. A small group came in while we were eating and one of the diners was vaping. Isn't that illegal in restaurants? I was hoping the management would stop him. But he was there for about the last 15-20 minutes of our meal and continued to vape a few feet away from us.

I started thinking... if the Chinese food at Flybird is anywhere near as impressive as everything else they do, this could be a revelation... especially considering the dearth of really good Chinese food in South Florida. So I waited for Sunday with anticipation. Yes... they had Egg Rolls! And I also noticed they recently added Egg Drop Soup to the regular menu. Perfect... now I could assemble a complete meal. In addition to the Egg Rolls, I ordered the Egg Drop Soup, BBQ Chinese Ribs, and Chicken Fried Rice. Wow! Winner Winner Chinese Dinner!! Everything was excellent. The Egg Drop Soup is rich and heartier than the versions you typically see... absolutely delicious. The Egg Roll is hand-rolled and feels like a gourmet interpretation... exactly what you'd expect if a serious chef decided to elevate a classic, served with housemade Duck Sauce and Chinese Mustard. The BBQ Ribs were also fantastic... fall-off-the-bone tender, meaty, and loaded with flavor. And then there's the Chicken Fried Rice... unlike any version you've probably had before. It's packed with generous chunks of chicken and real vegetables throughout. Broccoli in fried rice? When have you ever seen that? A huge portion too... loved it. Everything here always seems to be done with thought and care. We're lucky to have a serious chef like Michael bringing his culinary talent and creativity to Delray Beach. He keeps finding ways to surprise people... and that's a big part of what makes Flybird so much fun. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

As odd as it is to go during the day and have brunch, I would say it is the move. You pull into a plaza where everything else is closed except for this business and say hi to the security guard stationed at the entrance of the place---at 11 AM---to walk into a lounge beautifully decorated with green walls, floral accents and a disco ball. It is clear that the majority of patrons come much later in the day, like after 9 PM, to get bottle service listening to a DJ or any other performer. This would explain why the air conditioning was cranked so high, to accommodate the bodies and electricity that would pack the place much later. Our server didn't crack a smile but immediately brought us water after we asked and rounded back twice to take our order. Like I said, going during the day when there are only about 5 other parties dining seems to be the move for prompt service and food preparation. The dishes came out super hot and fresh. The Creole Seafood Omelette ($26) was chock full of well seasoned shrimp and lobster and cheese, with a creamy roux on the side that was good to occasionally dip a bite into but wasn't necessary all the time. The potatoes that came on the side were just the right amount of crispy while leaving some heartiness to them. The Fried Chicken and Waffles ($26) included flavorful fried chicken with breading that didn't quit when you tore it or cut into it. The cool part of this dish is the choice you have of the waffle it comes with. The Cookies and Cream Waffles should be your go-to. They were topped with the chocolate cookie sandwich crumbles and a great homemade vanilla icing. For a Lauderhill establishment in an area where you really don't know of anything else happening, this place is worth a venture out for your brunch. I'd go back to try the other items and drinks!
