I went in today to find an outfit for a play I'm seeing tomorrow night. I have nothing to wear in…read moremy closet at this time because I have gained a lot of weight in a very short amount of time. I entered the shop feeling very uncomfortable in my own skin, looked around, and saw clothes that looked and felt nice, but I wasn't sure what I should try on, what size I should wear, or where to start. I explained my situation to Angel and she took me around the store and helped me to find clothes that I would feel good in. She assured me as that they it was "ok, they're just clothes" as I was tearing up and getting overwhelmed. I tried on several outfits and felt horrible in all of them. I took photos to send to a friend and was trying not to cry. Angel checked on me and encouraged me to come out if I was comfortable. I came out in the next outfit and even though I wasn't happy in it, I loved the feel and the color. She handed me a belt, and a scarf to try. I felt like I was being choked by the scarf so she handed me a thinner scarf. I took photos of those options and sent all the outfits to my friend. With my friend and Angel's encouragement I settled on the last outfit. I had been hesitant to even try on the outfit due to the cost, but it turned out to be 50% off. Even if it hadn't been, I would have splurged. Nobody helps you shop like this anymore, and most clothes fall apart. You get what you pay for. Im trying to learn to accept my new size, and the new way my body interacts with the world with all its limitations. Angel truly made me feel as comfortable as I possibly could during a very vulnerable situation. Yes, they are just clothes, but my body has been through so much 15 months, including multiple surgeries, and subsequent complications. Yesterday the thought of going out to buy a dress made me want to crawl into a hole, and today I left Lark with everything I needed for an evening to celebrate my birthday.

I believe this is my 4th possibly 5th Blue experience and I have to say, I don't like what I see…read morehere. Blue appears to be the product of someone sifting through donations and determining these items can sell retail. Ceramic mugs at $12.99? This is Goodwill and if someone gave you that for free, why are you charging $13 for an item that would be a max of $3 at a reputable thrift shop and truth be told, most thrift shops sell mugs for $.99. I saw a few things here I liked, but when I saw the pricing, I just laughed, I wouldn't pay their asking price if the same items were new. I was also offended while attempting to shop here. I was the only one in the store and the woman was doing something in the corner. As I starting browsing near the entrance, I felt crowded and when I looked up, the woman working there, had apparently decided to spruce up the area I was looking at. It was a poorly timed and placed attempt to discourage shoplifting, but I am a mature, educated man with more than enough money and if I had to guess, I donate thousands of dollar's worth of merchandise to Goodwill annually and are a little peeved then they don't provide coupons or vouchers for large donations. Actually, in the last year, I started donating to a place in Bellevue, they give either 10% or 15% off your bill when you donate and even though, I don't always find anything to purchase, at least I know my donation is appreciated. This woman made me so uncomfortable following me around, I left. It was a nasty atmosphere and not typical of the once Hippy Vegan vibe I would get visiting Olympia. Shame on your Goodwill, I expect far better from you in many ways.

I wish it was bigger. I know this is a small, boutique style Goodwill outfit…read more It just didn't have the more quirky and unusual finds I was hoping to "discover". Friendly worker there who was knowledgeable and so sweet. The focus, understandably, is on clothing and shoes. Again, I just wish there was even more of what they had. I was in and out in 5 minutes.

Great Vintage With Incredible Retro-Style!…read more SITREP We were looking for pizza and instead initially wandered into this store only to find some awesome retro-dresses! THE SETUP My galpal Jenner & I were on the way back to Central Washington (after she picked me up at SEATAC), and on our way through Olympia, we got struck with massive hunger cravings for Pizza. As we headed to La Gitana, HOT TODDY crossed out path (or rather, we crossed IT'S path) and we had to wander inside of it once we were *blinded by the light* of all it's colors inside! STYLES & DESIGNS! We were inside a virtual smorgasbord of crazy fabrics & designs! I played guard to the dressing room while Jenner tried on some awesome dresses. I also foraged around for some smaller, more palatable items for a guy to wear and found some pretty cool jackets and socks. THE LOWDOWN After grabbing a couple of dresses, we were ready to go and find our pizza stop (which we did since it was almost next door). Missions Accomplished!

Today I walked in, a white Oly couple a few steps ahead of me. The clerk completely ignored them, but as soon as she saw me she RUSHED out from behind the counter in a panic as if to block my entry, saying "CAN I HELP YOU" in a stressed tone. She only relaxed when she saw my shopping bag from Radiance. I can't think of what would cause such a reaction, except that I am visibly brown. I'd hate to think that someone at such a sweet staple of downtown was racially profiling me. All in all it left a sour taste in my mouth. In over 10 years, I've never been treated this way here.
