Was buying something at the store -- the cashier was extremely rude. I've made it very clear that I am not interested in sharing my phone number and personal information for future contact and emailed marketing ads. Isabel, the cashier, took it personally and proceeded to ignore me after the third attempt and focus on my partner who was with me. From then on treating my partner as the customer even though I was buying the items? I don't know what her problem was but clearly can't take no for an answer. I recently had such a good experience with this Hot Topic. I've come to this location a few times the last couple of years and it's changed so much! For starters, the team's customer service skills are great! I also had some $5 coupons that one of the workers (Alex if I remember correctly?) checked my account for, thank you! The 2 cashiers were so nice and friendly to my kids, who are whining about going back already This is probably the best I've seen this store run in a few years, so kudos to Newparks Hot topic! So I went here because I wanted to exchange my Anna jacket for a smaller size (and also visit the Disney store). Valley Fair didn't carry it in XS so I thought by going to another store and see if they have it. This store didn't, so I tried to get the girl with bleached long hair to exchange it for me. She had the audacity to smell my unused jacket (still tags attached, and has been hanging in my closet on a hanger for a couple days) and make up some excuse that it was used, because of a "smell." Really? She clearly made that up, or maybe because the whole mall had a food smell so she probably confused it with that. She returned me the jacket after writing some random crap on the receipt and checking my return history. Nosy bitch. And FYI, California has been rather hot for the entire Fall season, so I don't see a reason why I would wear it when the temps are mid-late 70's. Chick is obviously smoking something. I was so upset. I rented one of the single mall strollers for my nephew to ride around the mall in. It is the same said as his one at home. We went into the store to find a shirt for my 11 year old daughter. We were looking around the empty store and the store clerk came up and said I had to leave because they don't allow those strollers in the store. He said there was not enough room. The store was empty! I had to stand outside the store while my daughter made her purchase alone in the store. This is classic discrimination! They want to look a certain way and strollers and babies cramp their style!!!! Great way to get a civil suit opened against you! Guess I have to write a negative review! For some reason, if you buy ANY summer conventions Funko Pops, you can't return them. I called customer service and they told me YOU CAN return it; IF you didn't opened the item and have the original receipt. I am returning ONE Funko pop and that is NOT OPENED. I looked at the PRINTED receipt and it DIDN'T state ANYTHING about "Summer Conventions Funko Pop is FINAL SALE"... I looked ALL over the STORE and it didn't say FINAL SALE.. Also, THEY said there is an email regarding this BUT they couldn't find it... Really? So your store BEST option is for me the call my bank and do a chargeback instead of just returning an unopened item WITH original receipt... Very smart... read more

BUT, I digress and give this section TWO STARS for my sadness upon running into our home store, Newark Mall, on Monday night to be judo chopped in the throat by an unfriendly staff member and an enormous amount of merch off the walls and missing!! Like, literally, 18 years an avid HT shopper and I've NEVER seen the store so....sad. WA!! I'm going to shout out that it was certainly obvi they were having a humungo sale (hence the boxes w/ $ amounts on them) and because my kid and I just left the HT in the Meadowland Mall in Vegas and they had their biz together. I ran in Monday to grab a tank top for the last minute concert I persuaded my broken-foot boyfriend to go with me to (Vampires Everywhere & Get Scared w/ Aidan). When I ran in and was judo chopped, I said to the Debbie Downer behind the counter "Where's all the merch at?" He just looked at me and got back to work. I looked around, trying to find any ME tank (even in the guys sec) and nothing. I left, sadly. :( Again, I ah-dore HT. It's our first store to visit everytime at the mall. We both have our own rewards cards. The store mgr and assistant store mgr know us during Black Veil Brides season. This visit just left such a sour taste in my mouth that I had to write about it. Just a gripe: Dear HT, you're not supposed to have Taylor Swift merch. You're not supposed to have Lady Gaga blaring thru the speakers. You're are not supposed to have any Bieber gear. 3. 5 stars. I personally like the Great Mall and Stoneridge locations. For some reason this location doesnt carry everything other stores carry. The staff here is hella chill and cool. Though this place says women's clothing in the description, it has men's clothes as well. Great store for hipsters. The clothes are cool and relatively inexpensive especially the T-shirts. Love all the other thingamajigs they sell from beanies to wristbands. The young cashier was sweet and a hipster. read more

Very shady store... came in today and was told they just received the new britney spears funko pop which has a chase varient. they just put them on the shelf and said noone has got one yet. Yet there was no chase.. i asked the associate who then started to tell me they did not receive one... even tho every chase varient gets 1 out of 6 and each case holds 6 which means there is always 1 chase in the case... she then stated she was upset there was not a chase also... why would she be upset? Unless she planned to takenit for herself. seems these employees do not put chases on the shelves for the consumers who rightfully deserv a shot at rare pops. This is hard when employees hide exclusives in the back of the shop for eachorher, they had to have received 2 shipments as there was 6 commons on the shelf and no chase. very upset with hot topic and there employees, not cool to hide rare funkos and lie to customers stating they did not recieve any. I love this store because the employees have always been so awesome to me. I bought an Avengers Hawkeye Sweatshirt from the online store and I had such an awful time I was ready to quit them for good. First the package didn't ship for a week then it was tossed into my gutters by FedEx and finally it ended up being the wrong size! When I went to the store I asked what I could do and they were very upfront about the fact they could not offer me an exchange because they don't have the item in stock but they could look up who does stock it. When I told them that I could drive to another mall they started giving me options on what to do. The best to where to a) have them start the return/exchange process or they could order another one for me and have it shipped with their stuff to the store so I wouldn't have to worry about shipping issues this time. I went ahead and ordered another one because I could give the one that is to big to a friend. They walked me through the whole process and made sure that I would get email updates on where the package was and when I could pick it up. I picked it up yesterday and it was perfect. The outside packaging was clean and nicely marked. The other thing is the girl working the front counter handed me a pair of scissors right after checking in that I had gotten the package so we could make sure it was what I wanted. After that they gave me a shopping bag so that I wouldn't have to carry the bag it shipped in through the mall. The people at this store were very, very helpful and I will for sure be ordering through them from now on when I want to get something online. read more

I hate this location. It now sucks! I've been coming here for years. The staff was fantastic, always super friendly (without being fake). My kids and I were there so often it felt like we knew the staff and they knew us. Then all of a sudden, the cool staff was gone along with the cool merch. What the hell happened?!? I tried to get a few things one day and they were taking sooooo long I had to just put my stuff down and walk out, never to return again. This store is super packed and not in customers. They have merchandise EVERYWHERE... you can't really walk around without bumping into something. Not that I really mind, but I can't really visit this store when my son is with me, otherwise i'll just be picking up stuff and telling him not to touch anything... The few times I've been here there's different reps so they either have a lot of reps on their payroll or they have a high turnaround of employees. They are friendly though, they ask if they can help with anything and let you know about their current sales. I do like their roomy dressing rooms! read more

Been coming here since I was 10. It used to be my FAVORITE store. All the people who worked there were nice, and unfortunately the past year the store has gone downhill. There's new unexperienced staff members who aren't smart enough to even open a new cash register even though there's a long line and there's enough people to work on it, and unfortunately it was so ridiculous that I had to walk out the last time I went. Also, the place is MESSY! The clearance section has thrown clothing all over the place. If the staff isn't putting clothes back or working the registers, then what are they doing?? I visited this Hot Topic yesterday with the intention of purchasing some items that I'd seen photos of on the HT instagram page. The customer service was not bad, it was nonexistent. I was not spoken to once as I made my way through the store. I was clearly shopping as I searched for multiple items in my size. At one point my boyfriend attempted to pull a shirt down off of a high face out on the back wall an associate walked right past us on the way into the back room. No acknowledgement from her at all. I walked into this store sometimes previously not having an issue. Just browsing at least 5-10 minutes max. But I went in grabbing some merchandise my niece wanted from this band. (I do not recall the name) after all it was the holidays. But, anyways I walk in and I start scanning the sections looking for anything with this bands insignia or design. I soon realize that the manager was watching me. She at first was just scanning around, but then I felt targeted because well I looked out of place. Now I usually don't make things about race but I felt really targeted as if I was going to steal from a store that I barely even shop at. She was being an absolute helicopter and I totally didn't feel comfortable in the store. I purchased the items but I still felt like the manager assumed that I had something in my bag. 10/10 not going there anymore. I would much rather travel farther to a better store with less hovering employees on the floor. If there was such a thing as a -1 star I would surely choose that. 1 Star is being generous. read more

Came here a couple of weeks ago to get lip jewelry because I just gotten my lips pierced recently and wanted to change out the stud. The girl working here was very helpful and recommended me to get a certain pack of studs for my lip and I asked if I could return it if it was the wrong size/ type for my lip. She said it was okay as long as the product was unopened. The next day I come back to return the product because I showed the pack of studs to my piercer and he said the rods were way to long. The guy working at the store tells me that I can't return the product even though it is unopened but I can exchange it. This is the Hot Topic I most go to, since it's closer to where I live. The service is good, but there is one particular employee I dislike. I was shopping with a friend and I needed help getting some merchandise down. I politely went to ask an employee if she could help me. Since the product was out of sight from where she was, I asked her to follow me to where it was hung. She rudely said "Can't you show me from here?" Clearly implying that I was too short...? Anyways, she ended up following me to the merchandise (Side note, I'm 15 and pretty short for my age) When she was getting it down, she obnoxiously asked "YOU want a BLACK BUTLER SHIRT???" To which I replied to with a nod. She shot me a dirty look as she gave it to me and muttered "You shouldn't be watching things like that. It's more for the MATURE audience." As she walked away.
