A week later I booked appointment for my Tesla frunk and lighted door handles. When I arrived they quickly got started and the estimate time to complete job was 3 hours. We were surprised because it was a little less of 2 hours. I actually had him install a swivel for the monitor.that taken maybe 20 minutes at most. I was so against getting anything done to our car even if it would help me. I just did not think it was worth it and I could adapt like I have always done. I must admit hubby made a good decision here to modify the car. He got some other stuff done but I am only going to share the part that I am most excited about. Let me preface this with I am legally blind and cannot contrast or see the handles currently since they are black along with our car being all black. We were told it would take about three hours so we took a Lyft to get breakfast to kill some time and we got back in about two hours and the car was ready! I was so amazed and then later in the evening my husband showed the handle will actually pop out for me to pull instead of pressing or even trying to open as the lights were showing up too. We just bought a brand new Tesla model X and wanted to have a Frunk automatic lift installed so our front trunk would open and close conveniently. We researched different companies online and connected with Larry at EvMod. I can tell you that his communication is excellent. His follow up is solid. They even sent a representative to install this at our house! And John did a great job installing our new Frunk controller. Very nice, knowledgeable, and professional. I found Larry through Yelp and asked him for a quote for the roof sunshade. He was very quick to respond and even had an appointment the next day. I showed up and had to wait about 20 minutes as he was finishing up another appointment. I went in for only the roof sunshade but he sold me on the adjustable screen mount. He was able to install everything in 45 minutes. The only downside was the gloves were not switched so it left the interior roof fabric with black marks/stains. My 2020 Model 3 doesn't have the powered trunk that was introduced in the next model year. This was a convenience feature I really wanted so I was extremely happy to see there was aftermarket support to add this functionality and even more excited to learn about TeslaFrunk -- a Bay Area installer. After making my purchase on their website, Larry personally followed up with me to schedule an appointment to come over to my home and install the Hansshow V7 powered trunk. After promptly arriving at the scheduled time, Larry setup his table and tools right in my driveway, and him and another one of his assistants installed the powered trunk in almost exactly an hour. Seriously impressive how quick they are at their job. After the install was complete, Larry walked me through how to operate the trunk and answered any additional questions that I had -- a true professional. I consider myself to be a handy person and have done my fair share of car DIY in my youth, but this was not a project I wanted to take on, considering how many different parts of the vehicle needed to be disassembled. Having Larry from TeslaFrunk perform the install was the best decision I ever made. I am sure I would've broken something if I tried to perform the installation myself and would've struggled for hours in frustration. Larry installed the rear trunk opener two years ago, but forgot to reconnect the rear brake light. Luckily my neighbor noticed and I called Larry and he asked to reconnect myself. Fast forward two years later, the opener no longer work and I had to pay $750 for a new system which I paid. Keep in mind his cost is probably $200 or less for each unit. Again, he forgot reconnect the brake lights but this time I noticed before I left the shop. The passenger door trimming was not put in place which I had to put back myself. I later left then realized he didn't give my card key back which I had to spent another 1.5 hrs round trip to get it back. My friend went there recently for the same broken trunk issue, and this time he didn't connect the 12v battery causing the car to error out and warning to shut down. His shop is sloppy and has no concept of a checklist and safety of his customers and his staff. His staff went under a 4000 lbs car with two made in China Harborfreight jacks with no jack stands. I was extremely pleased with the service at Tesla Frunk. At first I was not sure if it was worth it to add an automatic Frunk and rear trunk feature on a Tesla, but then I decided to just go for it. I was nervous because Tesla doesn't offer the service so 3rd party install is the only way to go. I didn't want to try myself. Larry was the most responsive and had a very reasonable pricing. I looked at the cost of materials and the total cost and it look fair. I got a quote from many places in SoCal and they wanted almost double the price of the parts for the total installation. I looked at Costco and my free superchargering miles and thought a great excuse to visit NorCal. I booked my appointment on a weekend and it was easy and installed within a few hours. The Frunk is life changing. I no longer worry about scratching the paint when I access the front. I felt so cool when I opened it next to Porsche that did not have the same feature. I got automatic frunk opener installed on both model Y and model 3 and they are awesome. I don't know why Tesla didn't include it from the factory. Also, it's great to have it done by Evmods / Larry. We've used Larry's service twice and have had great experience with him. The first time that we used him was a few years ago to install auto frunk opener and auto trunk opener/foot sensor for our Model 3. Larry was very efficient and quick in the installation process. The second time that we used him was earlier this year to install the following on our 2023 Model Y. * auto frunk opener * foot sensor for the trunk * auto open front doors * soft close rear doors The entire installation took a few hours but there was an issue with the passenger side auto open door. It did not always close completely by itself. He made a few adjustments to the door to see if it would close. In the end he decided that most likely he would need to get a firmware update from the company to fix the problem. It took 3 more trip to fix the problem completely. On his second and third visit, he spent a few hours working on the car. He finally returned on the fourth visit with a new controller card, which fixed the problem. I'm really glad that I had Larry do the installation. From past experience I knew that he was very experienced. The auto open door ended up requiring a lot of trouble shooting. Larry was very persistent and eventually got the job done.. I'm glad that I did not try to do this myself. I have mixed feelings about the auto door opener. I love that I can close the door hands-free, just by putting my foot on the brake. But the product was a bit of trouble to get installed. Larry told me that he had install this for other customers but had not had any issue with this product. So I may have just gotten lucky. Regardless, I would highly recommend Larry to install these enhancements for your Tesla. He is very fast and provides great support. The auto frunk opener, foot sensors, and soft close doors have been trouble-free for me from the beginning. I'm hoping the auto doors will continue to work well. read more
