Brought my 20202 992 to Performance Technic in Fremont based on positive reviews here and on Google. It was just for an oil change and brake fluid flush, so I expected a straightforward visit. Initial communication was great and they got me in the next day. The work was done quickly, but at pickup they couldn't clear the service and oil notifications due to a scanner issue. They said they'd order a new one and have me come back the following week. No big deal. A week passed with no update. I called and was told the scanner hadn't arrived but would be in the next week. This went on for about six weeks, with the same "next week" response each time. I had to call every time. By week six, I asked for a refund if it still wasn't resolved. That same week, they suddenly had the scanner. Based on this experience, I can't recommend the shop. read more

If you own a BMW G80 M3, BRING IT HERE! Outstanding workmanship, service, knowledge, and expertise! Their techs do some of the cleanest work that I've ever seen. Brandon is outstanding in coordinating services and always responds quickly to emails and questions. A true gem of a shop. I brought my 2024 BMW G80 M3 to them with less than 300 miles on the ODO so that they could install the OEM BMW M Height Adjustable Coilover Suspension (HAS) - the work was absolutely flawless, didn't even look like anyone had touched the car. Ride height was set to my exact liking and and alignment done. I brought the car back to them and they also installed a M.A.D midpipe and JB4 Tuner. The installation of the JB4 is some of the cleanest that I've seen (trust me, I watched countless videos of the install online). It looks as close to OEM as possible; wires cleaned up, JB4 unit secured perfectly, everything where it should be, cables routed into the cabin perfectly - too clean! Amazing service! I normally go to PT to get my VW GTi's APR retune/detune APR for the last 4 years and they've been accommodating and service is always above and beyond. I went for a re-tune on my last service and found out what seems to be a boost leak on the vehicle, without their thorough testing I would've never find out the leak. It's a bit inconvenient for me because I live in the South Bay, but after being turned away from local shops saying my transmission was a lifetime oil, and reading on forums if not done right it could harm your car, my peace of mind was greater than my inconvenience. Was looking for a place that do some modifications to my GT4. On the recommendation of a friend I contacted Performance Technic. It was a bit of trek and a Bart ride home from my place in the east bay, but we'll with it. Brandan was helpful and knowledgeable. Discussed my options, costs and and gave me a time frame for the repairs to be completed. The shop clean, organized and filled with very cool cars. I had some suspension mods performed as well as a track/street wheel alignment. "Q" was the technician and did a masterful job on all aspects of the repairs performed. Picked up the car and could not be happier with the way it drives. Now, just waiting for the next track day to really appreciate the mods. Price was more than reasonable, quality of work was unparalleled, the overall experience unmatched. The crew is made up of car enthusiasts and true professionals. I have brought both my BMW M2 and 318is to Performance Technic a few times now, and I have been very happy with the quality of work and service they provide. Brandon, the Service Director, is wonderful to work with and is highly responsive to both email and phone calls. I initially brought my M2 in twice for minor things (tire mounting & oil change) and I had a really good experience with them, so I decided to bring my 318is to them for a clutch replacement, driveshaft refresh, and shifter linkage rebuild. Not only did they have my car ready to go by the following evening, they 100% stood by their work when I discovered a rattling sound coming from the shifter area. When I came back 2 days later to show them the issue, Brandon and his entire team got my car on a lift ASAP to solve the problem. Within 10 minutes the issue was resolved and I was back on the road! We just purchased an older Cayenne that had a pretty bad vibration problem. My husband narrowed it down the the engine mounts. I inquired through email for a quote and got a timely response from Brandon and booked the appointment. Dropped the car off in the morning and had it back later that afternoon. They were also able to change out the transmission mount (on our request) last minute in the same day! Great shop to bring your Ultimate driving machine for service. I had visited with my classic BMW 2002 (70's models) and the service manager Brendan showed me the shop area, the BMW M cars being serviced and he told me about the services offered. I had indicated that my other BMW 135 with an M package was shooting a transmission service light code. He diagnosed that it might need a service and one of the gaskets was now faulty. I knew the service could be expensive but the dealer would be substantially more. I brought my car in the morning, had the service performed and car acted brand new again. I recently picked up a BMW M2 and finally had a reason to go here. I've heard a lot of great things about Performance Technic. It was my first time here and it was an awesome experience. I called and talked with Brandon on the phone about the work I wanted to have done. He was very helpful and communicative with all the questions and concerns I had. We eventually setup an appointment date to have my Ohlins coilovers, camber plates, and alignment done. I dropped off the car around 10AM. Their location was very easy to find. Their facility and workshop area, very open with several lifts was clean and organized. When I arrived, I was helped again by Brandon. Again very welcoming and helpful. Fast forward a couple hours later and the car was ready for pickup. The work was done promptly and Performance Tech did a fantastic job on the car. The install and drop on the car were absolutely perfect. I'm very OCD when it comes to my car and a shop like PT puts that at ease. Quality of work and professionalism are second to none. As always, despite having moved to a completely new location just six weeks ago, Performance Technic does it again! They take such great care of my cars I don't know why sometimes I bother going elsewhere because of convenience and proximity. Although I hike all the way out here to get my cars serviced, this new location is much better for those of us who may need to WF[wherever] to get stuff done but also take care of business and maintenance on our vehicles. They have a much larger area for the lobby and reception now with beautiful race photos & dark furniture. They also have a back area with a conference table, chairs, cables and fast wifi for you to work while your car gets worked on. The receptionist is extremely friendly and Joey & Matt as well as Ernesto are still amazing folks! Pretty much I've come here for everything from a subframe reinforcement on the E46 M3 to Inspections I & II. I will be back again for another Inspection II soon ... I don't trust anyone else to touch my car but Ptech. I think when you combine passion with knowledge you end up with a winning formula. Great job guys :) read more

Performance Technic - Best BMW Service in the SF Bay Area! - Auto Repair Near Me - Fremont, California

I just finished my second visit with the kind folks at Performance Technic (especially Brandon) and had to write a quick review to reflect my experience here. Certain cars, you can bring to any mechanic on any street corner and it's probably going to be fine (my wife's Acura TSX, for example). Some BMWs, however, require the soft touch of a Buddhist monk and century-long traditional experience of a Samurai craftsman. I go to Performance Technic for the latter, which was a rod bearing replacement on an E92 M3 which has been known to turn into a swiftly-moving grenade without proper care and preventative maintenance. It's a rather large job and I was happy to find someone as professional, competent and who had actually done this job several times. Long story short, making an appointment was swift, ordering the parts was easy, dropping the car off was reassuring and the job was done on time with no hiccups. There is even a follow-up visit to make sure everything was in order after 500 miles for the price of "on the house" which was appreciated. I cannot express the difference in feeling like I was driving a time bomb, versus driving a car that was cared for by the best BMW techs in the Bay Area. Add to that, an awesome location and shop with way more amenities than my first, second and third apartment. WiFi, drinks, awesome photos and posters of racing heritage and history and if you fancy it, a drool-worthy walk through the parking lot gazing at many-a-BMW race cars. It was a Bimmer nerd's utopia. I figured that if my buddy Amir trusted them with his beloved M6 then it must be a top notch shop and it certainly is. Im a new customer to this shop with great experience. Last November 15th 2017 I had my 06 M3 towed to swap or convert the smg transmission into 6MT everything turn out great Joe and Brandon who were very easy to reach out and communicate with over email and phone call. Very knowledgeable and very professional people including the rest of the guys that works to this shop to deal with. I highly recommend this shop specially if you own a BMW e46 converting it to 6mt there are only two shop who does this conversions that I know of in Cali this shop and one in South Cal by Lang Racing Developments in Irvine after I made so many calls trying to find out who does conversion nearby Bakersfield area because thats where my car stalled they are the ones who actually referred me to Performance Technic around the Bayarea. read more

While I had excellent communication with the employees, the garage misdiagnosed the problem with my car. I paid five hundred dollars for a fuel pump only to have my car stall again hours later because the problem was actually a cracked fuel line in the fuel tank. Sent an email to request a partial refund. No response. I would pass on a repeat performance. read more

This is supposed to be a very cool shop, but six month after some major work on my m3 I am very disappointed with them. When my m3 went past 100k I went to performance Technic for back end refresh. They did subframe reinforcement, bushings, transmition mounts and differential reseal. Pretty extensive and very expensive job. Withing a month after this work differential started to leak and I had to take car back to the shop. They took care of that and sold me more work. Soon after car started developing rattling noises under car. I did not have time to go back to the shop and was barely driving the car. Now that nice weather is back I finally crawled and the car and for my horror noticed missing bolts in transmition braket and improperly assembled heat shield. Not to mention half of the heat shield missing bolts. While fixing this problem I checked torque on all bolts that were part of the job and most of them were improperly torqued. I contacted performance technic to rectify this problem but they did not respond. I don't know if they are lazy or incompetent but I recommend staying away from this shop. read more

I am a little late on writing this review but I felt compelled too. I have 2 Bmw's I own that I normally took to the dealership or shops around my area (I live in woodland CA). A lot of the shops around this area aren't very good and the dealership gets pricey. I found this shop as I was looking for a tune for 1999 e36 Bmw. I looked it up through Dinan and I looked up reviews about this place and from reading it looked to be a really good shop. My first time here I was greeted by Brandon and he went step by step with the process of the tune. I must say he made sure I knew exactly what was going on. Few months later I had an inspection on my 2007 328i done and he let me know what the car needs and anything I need to keep an eye on for the future. About 1 month ago the starter on my e36 was giving out where occasionally it would start and sometimes it wouldn't. The dealership couldn't figure it out and recommended it was time for a new car. I took to Performance Technic. As it was there I explained to Brandon that the car needs a few other things such as control arm bushings and it had a thumping noise from hard accelerations and that since the car is already there if he can figure out the issues and fix it all up for me. I have never been to a shop who kept me on daily updates about my car and even sent pictures of things that need to be replaced. The fact he took the time to do all that shows how much they care for their customers. The day I picked up the car Brandon gave me a break down on what was done to the car. From reinforcements to things I should consider replacing maintenance wise down the road. Out of all the shops I been to this one sticks close. My friends and family ask me why do I drive 2 hours for a auto shop. I tell them there is no other shop that will take care of me or my car well as Performance Technic has. I am one of those guys that's fanatical over my car and have usually unobtainable standards when it comes to any work being done on it. That being said, these guys exceeded my standards. So the first 2 times of the service was good to me. Part of the reason is that it has very good reputation and so I just throw my car there, leave everything to them. But after the experience I want to buy parts from them and DIY a repair, it becomes terrible. The repair I planed is the thermostat replacement. First they charged me ~$100 to read the error code and tell me thermostat needs be replaced. I ordered the parts from them. And they give me the wrong parts ------ I did not find out the thermostat is wrong until the housing was opened and I took out the original one, which means I'll need to leave the car there, go to the dealer again, get the parts. Not to mention I was planing to repair the car on Saturday afternoon, dealer parts department won't be open util next workday. I emailed Brandon and got a simple reply with "That is the correct thermostat for the car." Luckily I took pictures when doing the repair. Parts eventually got returned. Not sure if I'll go there again. read more

I had a great experience here. The new place is very clean, staffs are professional, and most of all they are all BMW enthusiasts. The location is close to hwy 580. Ernesto, service specialist is easy to talk to, and you can get actual email from them! No other shops reply back through email ever! They are very honest about their price too. Usually, most of shops charge by the book. It means even mechanics can finish the job in 1 hour, if the book says it takes 2 hours, they charge 2 hours of labor. Not Performance Technic. They are expert on bmw, and I am sure they have done the same jobs over and over, which means they can do a job much faster than what the book says. Thats how they charge the labors. The lot is full of bmw M series and 30% of them are race cars with full roll cages. What a great site! If you are true bmw lover, you must bring your car here. The only down side is that you need to make an appointment at least 2weeks ahead of time. They are super busy. read more
