The bottom line is I would not recommend going to this location unless you want to damage your earlobes. I must preface this by saying I have had piercings at other Claire's locations in the past with great results and wonderful customer service. I am no going in expecting to have the same experience as I would at a proper piercing shop where they use a needle. I went there on a Friday around 1:15 in the afternoon.  I tried calling before I went, but their phone number does not work.  When I arrived the security grill was pulled down and the store was closed with a handwritten sign that said "Be Right Back."  I stood there for about 15 minutes and no one showed up.  I went to speak with a gentleman who works at a kiosk just outside the store and asked if he knew when the salesperson had left the store.  He told me that the store had been closed with that sign since the previous day.  I found this frustrating since I had even made an appointment on their website.  I went to do some other shopping and returned around 1:45 to find the store open and the young lady working there informed that she was not the one that had closed the store or placed the "Be Right Back" note.  I proceeded to ask her about getting a piercing and selected the stainless steel 3 mm cz earring set.  She marked my earlobes and allowed me to confirm the placement.  She did the right ear first which was fine.  On the Left side she did the piercing crooked (at an angle) so the front of the earring is tilted downward and the backing is jammed up again the hard part of theback of my ear.  When doing a piercing it should be done paralel to the floor and perpendicular to the ear lobe otherwise it ends up being crooked as it is in my left earlobe and the piercing goes through more tissue than needed.  This will also be a problem with jewelery as the earrings do not sit flush with the earlobe and are angled downward not to mention the backing digging into the back of the concha of my ear causing pain.  Had the piercing been done properly and not at an angle then these things would not be an issue.  Now more than 6 wks later that side has not healed and the stem of the earring (the long part that creates and sits within the piercing canal) has less room to move than the other side because it is going through the tissue at an angle so it ends being a thicker piece of tissue. I understand that the staff is not given a great deal of training but this is ridiculous. I even emailed their customer service to see if they would perhaps consider repiercing the affected side at the very least a discounted price (if I go to redo it in my own I will have to pay the same amount for 1 piercing as I would for 2). Their customer service did not bother to respond to my message. Poor quality work and even lower quality customer service from the parent company. read more

Took my 6 month old today to get her ears pierced. The manager checked to make sure she was up to date on immunizations. She sanitized, and put gloves on herself, sterilized and opened the brand new piercing kit in front of us. Made sure we were good with the markings of placement. It was so fast! My daughter cried after the second one. She didn't even notice the first one. We did the 14k solid gold flowers and there are so many options for baby/toddlers. After reaching out to corporate on phone and explaining my situation, they told me that a dis trick manager will reach out. The manager did reach out and gave us assurance that she'll take care of this. She gave us options to go to store of our liking and suggested times when the most experienced piercers were available. We went ahead at Stoneridge Mall location and got the piercing done and this time it came out great. Alexa did great with the piercing. (We didn't have to pay for this). The district manager kept in constant touch throughout the week and ensured that the process went smooth. Would give 5 star if the email communication with corporate was easier. When I go into a shop like Claires, I wish I was a teenager or at least 20 something so I wouldn't feel so silly buying the cute earrings, pretty headbands, lovely hair flowers and other fun fashion accessories. All the gals shopping at Claires were having a fabulous time! Everyone was happily finding and picking out a little something for themselves. The prices are cheap! The staff is friendly and welcoming! The merchandise is not fancy but you (at least I) feel like I'm diving into a huge treasure chest of my dreams! read more

Horrendous exchange policy! I purchased some tiaras and accessories for my daughter earlier today so we could play princess at home. We get home and realize one of the tiaras is broken (literally the crown piece is half separated from the headband portion) and the stick-on earrings were not sticking! I went back this evening (same day purchased) and asked to exchange them since they were damaged. Initially the manager and employee-in-training said it would be fine, but then at the end of the exchange the manager tells me that I have to pay the difference in the cost of the initial purchase and the current non-sale price of the item. The hell?! You see, I had purchased the items under "buy three get three" and they said I would have to return all the items in order to get a full refund and repurchase them with the sale price. I JUST WANTED TO EXCHANGE THE DAMAGED ITEMS! There is absolutely NO REASON why I should have to pay the difference in the current item if I am exchanging something sold me to faulty. I mean, it was the SAME DAY. I am a mom of two and I do not have the capacity to drive back home, find the other accessories, and drive back to the store. Not to mention that the manager should have told me this policy from the staff instead of wasting 15 minutes of my time. Jeez. Online is cheaper anyway...but I am not giving any more of my money to this stupid store. Customer service really does make or break it. read more

Would give 0 stars if possible. The employee was quite polite, but she didn't do her job properly. I got my ears pierced here during COVID and came back pretty happy, not knowing what was going to happen. Six weeks later, I take out my piercings in a LOT of pain even though I vigorously followed the after care guide, and I find out that one of piercings didn't even go all the way through my ear. I had to manually poke it through my lobe myself in order to actually pierce it. And even after 6 weeks of disinfecting, my piercings bled when I first removed them. Plus, the holes are so small that I doubt I can fit anything through them. read more

It really did the trick! :) If you want to get gloves or a boa, the boa is the same quality as Spirit and 50 cents cheaper. The gloves are $15, come in black and white, and fit like a dream, unlike the cheaper versions for $9 at Spirit that don't even fit right. Do ITTTTTTTTTTTTTT! I love this place. This is where I got my first piercings. Ear. Piercings. At the time, I thought they did a great job, and I was very happy with my newly hole-punched ears. At the time, I also happened to be a freshman in high school, so I really didn't know any better. Actually, my mom would've fainted if she had to accompany me to a professional piercing parlor. Then she would've stuffed me in my room until I turned 18 so she could arrange a marriage for me and throw me in my husband's house to be locked up, knocked up, and all that jazz. Bottom line: if she took one look at a piercing parlor I would never have been allowed to pierce my ears. I guess they didn't do a bad job though. But truth be told, there's a lot of stuff that could have gone wrong though. And it's not as though the people working there really get that much training. (No offense... but they're sales associates at a tween accessories chain.) I say shell out the extra 20 or so bucks for the real deal. I'd rather sac some cash than end up with giant keloids bordering my face. It's a gamble. Uhh... the accessories are cute though, not gonna lie. Kind of cheapish. This is for ear piercing. Please be aware of what can happen: I took my 7 yr old daughter in recently and Kat/Cat was the staff member who helped us out. She was somewhat friendly but she seemed to be knowledgeable about the piercings so we went through with it. She pierced my daughter's ears and my daughter started to say she didnt feel good. Her eyes rolled back, face turned white and faints on the stool. Of course I was scared out of my mind because I have never seen anyone faint before let alone my own child. I tried to stay calm and tried getting her off the chair as she went limp/got heavy. I looked at Kat for help and she just stood there and looked away and continued cleaning up the station/earring box etc. I was like WTF?!...so I turned back my attn & was able to get her down to the floor in my lap and kept talking to her (And this is on a weekend inside a busy store). I'm rubbing her face and getting her air so she could really come to. Kat finally handed me a little pack of something and I didn't know what it was or how to use it so I gave it back to her and she opened it and said it was for her to smell. I thought wow thanks I would have been helpful to know when you first handed it to me. My daughter finally reacted/came to with the smell of the packet. Kat stood there and she started to say that she sees this all the time...that the kids can faint from ear piercings. It would have been really helpful for her to give me the heads up and tell me you know what some kids do this but don't be scared.... just some sort of guidance/reassurance that things are going to be ok. She is the "proffesional" at this store. After all this went down, I was able to sit her up and explained what happened. Kat handed her lollipop and said her blood sugar levels dropped due to the piercing and it was good idea for her to finish the lollipop. I was upset/sad/scared that I wasnt prepared for this. I mean, I would have given her a lollipop in between the ear piercings if I knew there was a slight chance of this occuring. I think ALL their employees should give parents a verbal heads up of what could happen especially if they say it happens all the time. Sure they make you sign an agreement in size 8 font and I read through most of it. But still show some compassion and help if you see someone struggling with their child. TELL parents VERBALLY or if it happens to be in the contract, point it out to us. The entire experience sucked and scared the s*** out of me and my daughter. My daugther was so confused/felt sick after we left I just wanted to cry but held it together so she could stay calm. (The two stars are for the earrings. They are fine, we clean her openings/earrings them 3x a day w/ the solution and my daughter likes the look.) read more

Very friendly staff and always smiling and making useful recommendations. I stopped by to check out their earrings and I ended up leaving with a new headband, earrings, a bracelet and a super cute scarf. They have BOGO offers and they even do piercings, all in their tiny shop on the second floor at Newpark. She explained all the earring options available and suggested something that is best for the kid so that he doesn't pull it apart. She was so friendly with the kid and pierced both the ears. In the mall finding a dress for a semi-formal and stumbled in. The clearance rack was amazing. They had flasks covered in colorful faux croc skin material. I picked up 4 for my friends to use on the long bus ride to our semi formal (swig swag indeed!). Got a pair of feather earrings for myself and all 5 items were $10 total!!!!!! I am also writing this review about my ear piercing experience. I had already had my ears pierced since I was very little. I decided to go get my second piercings and went to Claire's. The guy that helped me was nice and seemed to know what he was doing. I decided to buy the "better" pair of earrings that were supposed to be better for the ear, and also paid extra for the "better" solution. The ear piercing process itself was not a problem, but the real problem came a few weeks after. I noticed my left ear was still in a lot of pain. I tried to take out the earring which was very hard to do because it was so painful. I eventually did and thoroughly cleaned my ear and earring. I put it back in for the rest of the day. The next morning I woke up in even more pain and the whole stud to the earring was stuck in my earlobe. There was no way I could get it out because it was so painful. I needed up having to go to the doctors where they numbed my ear to get the earring out. A few more days later and I noticed the same pain in the other ear. I took that earring out before it was too late. Long story short, please don't go here to get your ears pierced. Go to a licensed professional where they do not use a piercing gun. I'm really disappointed and feel that I got ripped off especially after following the cleaning instructions and buying the "better" products. read more
