Shoutout to my girl Megan!! I hope someone sees this and she gets the recognition she deserves! I stop by for pickup orders every now and then and everytime I see her working, it's a blessing. She always acknowledges me immediately and I never have to wait to be helped. Besides that, she's an absolute delight to talk to and speaks exactly my brain rotted language! I feel so seen and get so many laughs out of my visits, even if they're short ones. She absolutely contributes wonders to the atmosphere in here and really makes it feel like a fun and safe space to be. She also has historically gone out of her way to go above and beyond to solve problems and make sure I left with what I came for; even when I was perfectly fine just shrugging them off and going without. Even when she's not there, her presence is still in the room with us. She's decorated my online delivery packages and my heart really exploded over it! I haven't been to a Hot Topic in many, many years. I'd probably just make myself sound old if I told you how long it's really been. But I came in last week with my friend Sandi as we were wandering around the mall. Figured, what the hell. Let's go in for shits and giggles, basically. I'm actually really glad I did go in here. We had been to Victoria's Secret before that where I had bought some panties. The lovely employee forgot to take off the dye tags on several pairs I bought. I bought 7, she took one off, found a second one as we set off the alarm, and found 3 more when we walked into Hot Topic and set off the alarm there. That was embarrassing. Luckily, the employee in Hot Topic was super sweet and understanding! She volunteered to remove the tags for me, given I had set off the alarm walking in to the store. I explained what had obviously happened, and had to go through my entire bag and hand over multiple pairs of my panties. Again, embarrassing, but whatever. She treated it like it was nothing and was happy to help. I was just glad I figured out there was an issue before I made it home and couldn't wear half of what I had bought. After this, we walked around and had some fun looking at their funny stuff, I took a couple pics with clothes I was trying on for entertainment. I ended up buying a Star Wars tea pot for my kitchen. I'm not the biggest Star Wars nerd out there, but my husband has at least gotten me interested in it, and I was actually looking for a new tea pot. Score for me! Also found a cute set of Star Wars key chains for my husband and me. The thing I enjoyed most about this store was the customer service, as well as the music. Think mid-90's rock kind of thing. Listening to No Doubt and Crazy Town brought back some fun memories and it was great to just take a few minutes and rock out/sing along to some of these songs. My first thought was, I'd love to work here if this is what we're listening to every day! I could so do this. Lol. The woman who basically went through my panties with me cashed me out as well. She was again, super sweet. She signed me up for whatever rewards card they have, so I get points and emails and whatever other crap they send out. I don't pay much attention to them, really. She was fun to chat with in the process. Found out we have the same birthday. Which is actually kind of cool. I've never met another person with the same birthday as mine, so it was fun to chat about it. Would I return? Absolutely! The awesome music, fun products, and amazing staff will definitely bring me back in much more often than before. I am really glad I decided to go in here the other day. My second entry and my third call in the search for a very specific hat. I called in and spoke to an Individual named Cassie, and they were so sweet. Asked me how I was doing and was very fun and energetic in my "quest" for this hat. They did not know that this was actually a quest for me so I double appreciated their phrasing, enthusiasm and dedication in searching through their "thousands of hats" for this one beanie. This was another store that I couldn't find the hat at- however, this was such a pleasant, efficient and entertaining call that I feel like I took something home just from inquiring. They also sounded very knowledgeable about what I was talking about. Even recommended a similar beanie that was in stock. As a hot topic girl, I love hearing from someone who knows just as much as me or more. read more

I am severally disappointed in the way this location is handling the mask situation. I completely understand that Hot Topic has the right to now allow those without a mask in their store -- although I don't find it okay that your policies are going against professional health recommendations. Your employees should not be hassling moms with infants about putting a mask on their infant. I also feel it is unreasonable that your store policy won't make any exceptions for those who cannot wear a mask due to an underlying medical condition. I have gone to a different hot topic in which they allowed me to enter -- but stay 6 ft away from everyone (just as other small stores have done as well). read more

Yesterday I took my 10 year old daughter into this store to find FunkoPops and Harry Potter gear, we were so kindly greeted while waiting in line to enter. The guy was super kind. He was super informative and very personable, even to a kid. Was already making for a nice experience. My daughter wanted to see the Funko's on the top shelves and having a vision impairment she has to see them close up. The girl working (Rachel) went out of her way to get a ladder and give her the funkos and converses about similar interests and was so very patient. At this point in time she was the only one working the floor, while one was on break and the other had to run the line at the front door. I used to be a retail manager and I can tell you the girl managed this very well and communicated with everyone else in the store while on her way to help my daughter. When ringing up all our goodies I had a bunch of rewards and Rachel was so helpful helping my daughter and showing her things. This is a big deal to us since it takes us a bit longer having to visually see things for my daughter. I cannot express enough the experience was outstanding thanks to Rachel. She even gave my daughter a Harry Potter acceptance letter and talked about all the similar things they like. This made my daughters day. She left saying, "That girl was so nice." Again she's a kid. Thank you very much to the guy working the front door and Rachel. We will definitely come in more offen just because of the experience. read more

Pretty much my most frequented store in the city. Embarrassingly, I average 2-3 trips a week. Love the merchandise and have developed great relationships with the employees there to the point where they lovingly greet and farewell me by name most of the time. As a big collectibles guy, I know exactly what I want when I go in and so do they. The store is well set-up and was even aired out recently with a reduction of floor displays to reduce the prior claustrophobic feeling felt by some patrons. Staff is super attentive to your needs and items bought online are also handled with care when they arrive at the store (if you choose to ship there for pickup). Good discount options if you are a regular shopper that take off the fringe of the pricing! Highly recommended if you are into pop culture, collectibles, cult/geek memorabilia, alternative bands, and the Hot Topic signature goth scene! Definitely a highlight of the VRC mall. read more

I've been in to this particular Hot Topic location a few times, and I honestly think it's the only store in the Valley River Center worth visiting. When I came to the Valley River Center this past week to look for a Halloween costume, I pretty much went into every clothing store and then some (Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Hollister, H&M, even the Spirit Store), and this was the ONLY store who had helpful, friendly employees. When I was at the mall, it was around 10:30 in the morning on a weekday, so the mall was by no means crowded. Therefore, these other stores have no excuse for not greeting me at the door or offering to help me find anything, because most times I was literally the only customer in the store. Then I came to Hot Topic. An employee greeted me upon my arrival, informed me of the current store promotions and sales, and asked if I needed help finding anything. They didn't pressure me when I wandered around the entire store looking up and down every wall (if anyone has ever been here, you'll know that Hot Topic packs a LOT of merchandise into a very small space), yet they didn't completely check out and ignore me; they were around and willing to answer any questions I had. After wandering around for about an hour waiting for inspiration to strike, I wasn't having any luck so I left without making a purchase and moved on to other stores. I eventually decided to come back to Hot Topic since I didn't find any better deals or merchandise offerings at the other stores in the mall, and because the Hot Topic employee had informed me of their sale (all Halloween items were buy one get one for $1), I knew I would find the best deal here. When I came back, the same employee who had been so friendly and patient with me earlier in the day welcomed me back to the store. I ended up getting a Nightmare Before Christmas costume for 50% off, and a matching accessory to compliment my costume for $1! I wish I had caught the employee's name so I could inform all you fellow Yelpers of who she was since she was so friendly and helpful, but all I can say is that she had glasses on and a tattoo of a skull on her upper arm. I'll definitely be back to Eugene's Hot Topic! read more

Not all heroes wear capes and our cashier Nathan doesn't either. My girlfriend and I wanted to jump in on the buy one get one 50% off deal. I found a cool Dragonball Z shirt while she couldn't fine a Studio Ghibli shirt in her size. We asked Nathan if he could look online and for other opinions and he happily obliged. We didn't find the shirt my girlfriend was looking for but I just wanted to give a shoutout to Nathan for going the extra mile. Kudos to him for his excellent service. read more

I'm blown away with the customer service. I had an issue with a shipment to the store and an employee who was absolutely rude. I was called by so many higher ups! They got to the bottom of the issue and now I'm more than impressed. I was so fed up before that I was going to boycott it, much like I've done with a lot of corporations but now, I'm very impressed.
