I've been here before a couple of years ago. The first time I came here I had their banana pecan pancakes and they were amazing. The best pancakes I've ever had. So I knew I had to order pancakes here again. We got pancakes with strawberries cause my friend is picky about bananas and my other friend got the biscuits with gravy. The waitress heard us talking about how we wanted eggs with our pancake so she suggested the deluxe combo that came with eggs and a choice of sausage or bacon. We each got a different drink. We got tomato juice, coffee, and grapefruit juice. Out food came very quickly and was all delicious. The pancakes weren't as good as a remember. But I think the banana sauce was what made the pancakes amazing. It was a nice spot to visit in town. read more

The food itself was solid, but I was surprised, and honestly frustrated to find out it was $1.99 just to add a single slice of cheese. That's a pretty steep upcharge for something so small, and it definitely took away from the overall value of the meal. I hope they reconsider their pricing, because it's the kind of detail that can turn an otherwise good breakfast into a letdown. Disappointing. We had a great experience here, two days in a row! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. They have a great menu selection with lots of variety for breakfast and lunch. Pretty good place, in my opinion. Love the options for pancakes and waffles. Apple pie filling waffle was pretty good and made me want to try the cannoli one another time. My youngest liked the cinnamon roll pancakes. I do wish the corned beef hash would have been warmer when it came out. Parts of it were almost cold. Not dangerous level of cold where I could have gotten sick, but definitely at the point it affected the want for it. What a pleasant surprise! The restaurant is super clean. Our waitress Eileen was fantastic, such good service and gentle demeanor. I ordered the jalapeño sausage scramble, what a huge portion! If you don't want jalapeños, you can skip it, actually is not spicy at all. The portion of all the food is huge. I noticed the customer behind us ordered a club sandwich. I have never seen such a big portion. And then on top of all this, the restaurant gave us a 15% discount for the holiday season! Clean, with wonder food and service! We went on a Saturday morning. The parking of was full, but we were seated quickly. My husband ordered fish and grits. It was seasoned to perfection. I ate so much of his plate that the waitress suggested that I swap out my dish. Five minutes later I had my own fish and grits. There was a photographer who took our pictures. She was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. I would go back just for her!! We got the waffles, pancakes, grits, eggs and sausage. The waffle was the star. The pancakes were good with a nice cinnamon flavor? They were a bit dry though. Lots of syrup was needed. The eggs were fantastic. The grits were ok. There is a lot of places to have breakfast, but I found hot stacks to be clean, service was good, the food was delicious. We have been here three times during our week in Myrtle Beach. I enjoy the atmosphere of good old diner. This place is cute and neat and clean. Waitresses are all great! Kitchen is efficient and food is just great. They will make gluten free french toast, pancakes and waffles. I tried the waffle and pancakes and that is a huge treat for me. I was concerned that they forgot to do GF for my pancakes because they were so good. Husband got a normal pancake so when I compared his was just a little cakier. The eggs were cooked to perfection each day we had them. Home fries were not the typical deep fried type, they were like boiled diced potato, browned and seasoned lightly. The bowl had majority egg, would have been better with a better mixture of sausage. The pancakes were good with a hint of vanilla which made it them delicious! For a place that specializes in pancakes I was surprised by how dry mine were. I mean they were DRY!!! And I came here when it was slow. They came as a side with an omelette I order. The omelette was greasy and salty. I mentioned to the server TWICE that the pancakes were very dry and she did nothing to address it. I wasn't going to order a fresh set. It was just not worth it. When in Myrtle Beach it is almost customary that you need to go to a pancake house at least once. There are a ton of choices to choose from and we made our choice based on reviews and location to our hotel. Hot Stacks is a no frills place, even with the large amount of people there, service was quick and attentive. We had to wait to be seated when we arrived but got a table fairly quickly. We ordered Biscuits and Gravy and Pecan Pancakes. We did not have to wait too long before our food came out. My pancakes were decent but my wife's biscuits and gravy left a lot to be desired. The biscuits did not taste that fresh and the gravy had barely any flavor at all. We expected more from an establishment in the South. I have never eaten Eggs Benedict and I am glad my first time was here! The Eggs Benedict with Ham was so incredibly delicious! The Hollandaise sauce was creamy perfection. The eggs poached just right delivering additional richness to the plate. The ham slices were tender and flavorful. And I want to know where they get those English Muffins! HUGE! I had grits on the side and these are THE BEST grits I have eaten in my life! Not sure of their secret but they are killing it in the grits game! My girls had 'regular' non-GF breakfast. Food was amazing! I kept telling my daughters: 'this is the best GF waffle I've ever had.' It was so light and fluffy. But, the coffee was in a really small coffee cup. Have never seen one that small at one of these breakfast places, and it cost $3.99! I didn't order a refill so I don't know if refills were free. I can only assume so at that price. The 2 scrambled eggs were $8.99! No cheese, nothing...just eggs. Then with the toast (thin white sandwich bread type), total bill was right at $20! I understand cost of food these days is high. But that high to justify that basic order? Full disclosure, I did not look at the menu. I was in a rush and knew what I wanted to order.
