the food was amazing to start. It was served hot and stayed hot for me and my buddies entire stay. I got a half Philly and chicken fingers on the side. these have to have been the most crispy chicken fingers I've ever had, but they weren't dry and the flavour was amazing. Onion rings weren't soggy, nice and hot and crispy, not greasy, same goes for the sandwich, everything tasted fresh and real, like it was actual good quality ingredients, service was quick and helpful, and the atmosphere was something to be enjoyed in person, one of my favourite new local restaurants I've found, highly recommended, and the portion size was filling, very worth the cost, and for today's prices it was very reasonable. read more

One of my husbands favourite places to eat, he always would point it out as we drove past. I never thought to give it a try until we were looking for something on the northside to check out. Family friendly with a moderate amount of seating. I wouldn't plan to come and stay with a large group, but for our group of 5 it was good. Wish they had some outdoor seating. Lots of parking in the area. This is the place to get a Philadelphia Cheesesteak sandwich. We ordered a couple- one with sauce and one with seasoning. The sweet chilli sauce was a amazing and definitely the group favourite. The seasoning for the other sandwich we choose was mango chipotle and it was not as power packed as the sauce. Next time I would try both a seasoning and sauce. We also ordered the poutine as they had quite a flavourful variety- the buffalo chicken poutine was good. Cactus cuts had the most interesting honey, dill sweet sauce. And the sweet potatoes fries were very good- the sauce that they came with with so good! If you order cactus cuts I would personally ask for a side of the dip that normally comes with the sweet potatoes fries. Tip! Orders don't come with drinks and unfortunately you have to order them separately and everything is bottled so it does add to the overall cost of a meal. read more

It's a nice alternative to the regular fast food chains, and the service is really great. It was our first time visiting and there was no one else around, so the girl behind the counter was really patient in making suggestions and answering our questions. We went with the 12" philly cheese steak and it was great. Cooked to order, everything was nice and hot and the vegetables weren't super mushy (hate mushy peppers and onions). Lots of cheese and a decent amount of meat so you didn't feel like you were just eating a mouth full of bread with each bite. We also ordered a side caesar (too heavily dressed, and with those weird synthetic bacon bits) and the cactus chips that came with an addictive honey dill dip that we couldn't get enough of. Finally, the philly supreme burger with cheese, bacon and an onion ring - it was good, but everything got soggy on it really quickly. I'd stick to the cheese steaks over the burgers. read more

Excellent simple cheesesteak with real actual cheese. Really enjoyable, held up the 20 minute drive home and was still warm and delicious.

I have cravings for a Hot Philly sandwich every few weeks. When I finally give in and go I never regret it! The beef is sliced thin, warm and juicy, and piled high. I usually try to eat in because take out can get the bread soggy and doesn't give you the full Hot Philly experience. The location leaves a little to be desired. Being attached to a Jiffy Lube and kind of in no man's land in a large parking lot doesn't give you a lot of confidence but don't let that deter you! Inside there are a few tables and stools with some newspapers for those that want to eat in. The price is definitely worth the portion that you get. They make it on the spot, to order, and they are consistent with their product. read more

They many great options on their menu, always takes me a few minutes to figure out what I want! I would recommend to anyone, prices are more than fair as per portions. I would say it's just below 4 stars, but not quite down to 3 stars, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I remember fondly when there was a Hot Phillys in every food court. It was usually my choice if I had to pick. When they started to disappear, I was sad :( Especially when the one in City Centre went away... I used to go there pretty often when I worked in that mall. So, I had heard rumours that there was a stand-alone location on the north side and was excited to check it out... low and behold... there it was! So, we finally went to check it out for dinner last night. The menu is HUGE now.. offering lots of sandwich and wrap options, in addition to the expected Phillys. We both kept it simple and went with The Works (onions, green peppers, mushrooms, cheese, mayo, mustard and your choice of steak or chicken). I got no onions, and added cajun seasoning and teriyaki sauce. My other half got cajun seasoning and sweet chili sauce. We both agreed that our sauce choices were delish, but neither of us could taste the cajun seasoning at all. The meat and veggies tasted good, but I have a big complaint on the bun. It was chewy and tough and not enjoyable at all. I noticed that there is now a Philly Rice Bowl option, which basically gives you all the same toppings, but served on rice instead of a bun... I would probably check that out next time. we also got a half order (4 pieces) of the jalapeno poppers, but were disappointed in this. it's filled with a cheez whiz type cheese instead of cream cheese like you'd expect. A big disappointment for me is that you don't get to watch them grill up the goodness anymore... that was always a big attraction for me. Oh well. Prices seemed a little steep for what you get. 2 full sized sandwiches and a half order of jalapeno poppers came to just over $27.00. No drinks or fries or anything. I'll be back... but I'll try the bun-less option next time. Oh, and I definitely want to check out some of their poutine offerings soon as well! read more

Shared a bbq Philly steak sub with the hubby. It was great. Lots of sweet bbq sauce. Fresh hot meat off the grill with lots of mushroom slices. I thought it was little odd that they added mayonnaise and mustard as well. Next definitely going to ask it be left out next time. There was a large seating area and things appeared fairly clean. The cook was helpful enough but not overly friendly. But sometimes that's okay too. Definitely going back. read more

I have visited this place for at least 10 years plus and it has always been ok for the most part. This past visit the beef was terrible and full of gristle and fat pieces. One of the worst I have ever had anywhere. I had to spit many hard chunks of meat and was very disappointed. I gave a couple of starts just based on the staff that are always good but food was bad. I hope that the store is not buying the cheapest cuts possible as nearly $12 dollars for just the sandwich should justify something less gamey tasting read more

What a big bun of deliciousness. I love mushrooms so had to order the one with lotsa mushrooms and they didn't disappoint. My son enjoyed his hot philly too. I like that there is a choice of salad or fries. I had the salad, which tasted nice and fresh, while my son had the fries, which he liked. They have a great menu with a range of items but you have to go for their philly steak or chicken. We both tried the legendary- which is either chicken or steak, onions, mustard mayo and cheese. One of my favourite places to eat in Edmonton. I've been to Geno's and Pat's in Philadelphia and this is as close as it gets to the real thing anywhere outside of Philly. My favourite order to get is the Super Big Bite, Steak with Out of Control (no mustard, no mayo). Buffalo Style fries (hot sauce and nacho cheese) is a solid side dish, too. read more

Well I'm disappointed. I bought a voucher off of WagJag "$6 for a 12-Inch Philly Sandwich Combo with Fries and a Bottled Drink from Hot Philly (A $14 Value)". Pretty good deal! I bought it since i've never been to Hot Philly I was excited to try! I went in to redeem on the day that the voucher listed as expiry and they told me it could only be redeemed the day before because it expired today. That sucked. I had my reasons for not redeeming sooner so I did not argue. But then I told them well I still paid $6 for it so you should give me $6 off my order since im already here. Nope! He told me go talk to WagJag. I was so upset I didn't even fight I just left. It made no sense... I already paid. I understood it technically already expired so I didn't expect the value offered. VERY DISSAPOINTED AND HUNGRY!!!! I ordered the steak and rice wrap, no green pepper, add mayo, add tomato, add cheese. Im not a huge fan of BBQ sauce because its pretty ordinary so I ordered the new Carolina BBQ sauce but they were out....so I asked for very little BBQ sauce. I paid for all my extras, got my wrap, had 3 bites, and left. NO MAYO, NO TOMATO, NO CHEESE, COVERED IN BBQ SAUCE, NO EXCUSE (we were the only people in there). My husband ordered the mushroom steak and cheese, add cheese, extra mustard, very little BBQ sauce... his was the same story as mine. No cheese, No mustard, DRENCHED with BBQ sauce. I am not the type of person to waste food so I gave it to someone who really aprreciated it... My German Shepherd Duke. He really enjoyed it... but he likes alot of gross things. Ordered the cajun chicken wrap which I thought pricey but hopefully worth it....very disappointed because it mainly contained lettuce and VERY LITTLE chicken. Drenched in some type of sauce (definitely not cajun). Pita wrap was cold and tasted day-old borderline dry. My companion took 1 bite and left his on the table. We split some sweet potato fries but they arrived greasy and overcooked. Wish I had tried sometihng other than the cajun chicken wrap. Very expensive for 2 people at $20 and it was mediocre at best....won't return. Stopped at A&W so my friend could get a decent burger. read more
