Mango Lassi
Wilsy A.

My first time here was back in November. I can't believe this was in my drafts for so long. If you really like Indian food, fried chicken, & good eats overall - this is a spot for you. This place's aesthetic is cool, ambiance is friendly, & the location is great. The lil Murga sliders were juicy, had a lovely crunch from the veggies, & were very tasty. I can't say enough about these, a must for sure! I'm a potato bun gal, so for me it just truly made it even better. The Murga Masala sandwich was still crispy even though it was coated very nicely in their Tikka Masala sauce. The mint chutney elevated it for me, I've never had a sandwich like this. I devoured that juicy Indian fried chicken sandwich. I love dips and was curious to try their coconut chutney, because I love coconut. I dipped my fries in that as well as their mint chutney to taste them alone & I don't regret it. I would've taken a bottle of each home if I could lol! One of the main stars of the show was their Badmaash's Mac & Cheese. Creamy, cheesy, & the nice crispy chicken on top made it all the better as if everything else wasn't already so delicious. I legit had some leftover & the next day it still tasted super yummy. I've never had mango lassi before or any lassi for that matter & I can say it was enjoyable. It's definitely a drink I think best drunk cold, had the right amount of sour touch to it. I truly enjoyed everything! I can't wait to visit them again soon, to try more of their other items. Their staff is also very nice, can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

First learned about this place during a Yelp Elite event they held and I have been back a few times since then. It's a unique eatery with an Indian-based menu, but not really the same food you'd find in an Indian restaurant. It's not really fast-food, but somewhere in between. The food is always made fresh and the flavors are excellent. As a pescatarian, I can only comment on the non-meat items, but I've had just about all of them and they never disappoint. You can take out, which most seem to do, or eat in. The space is very bright and clean. I've done both.

Really enjoyed our meal at Hot Murga. Its a great American/Indian fusion restaurant with many options - hot chicken sandwich, fries, rice bowls etc. It is a fast casual restaurant; with dine in and take out. Parking is street parking. The food is genuinely delicious; a cool blend of spices in the dishes. Do not miss the murga sauce (its an option for most dishes!) and the cardamom cheesecake ice cream; I still think about this ice cream. SO good.

Order and pay at the counter prior to receiving your meal. New to New Haven another hot chicken restaurant but with an Indian flare. We came at an off time so there was only one other party located in the restaurant. I think most order take out from here although there are a few tables inside to sit at which we did. We each ordered a mango lassi which was very refreshing and helped cool off the spice. The menu is simple but with lots of opportunities to customize. From salad and rice bowls to sandwiches to chicken and waffles they have it. I ordered a chicken rice bowl, that came with a ¼ sized pita bread, coleslaw and pickled onions. They have many different sauces you can add onto your meal, the server wasn't that clear on what each of the sauces were, I played it safe and got the "spiced ranch" which tasted mostly like mayo. Others in my party ordered the chicken and waffles and the French fry chicken bowl. Paid street parking is available out front.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I love Indian food and after seeing the posts on Instagram this place looked like an interesting visit. I had a chance to stop by over the weekend and I must say the food here is amazing. I love the concept of chicken with an Indian flair, and man this place did not disappoint. I had the regular sliders and everything was on point, from the warmth of the potato rolls, the tenderness of the chicken with its slight kick (got mine mild), the sauce, etc. It was just the best sliders I ever had. I will be here again next time I'm in town. The place is relatively small with a few tables in an area close to Yale. It is nice inside, clean and the design around the place is pretty neat. Can't wait to be in new haven again to go check this place.

I think this place is just ok. It definitely has great appeal but the execution of the food is just not that good. The chicken was not really seasoned so they rely heavily on their sauces to make up for the lack of flavor. The chicken itself was very meaty which I like but it kind of stopped there. The mac n cheese side dish is just flat out pathetic, maybe the worst I've had. That dish alone brought the entire score down overall. Food rating: Murga Masala Chicken Sandwich: 6.6 Masala Fries: 7.1 Spiced mac n cheese: 2.1 Several dipping sauces: all above an 8 I wouldn't try this place again though.

Hot Murga is a fast-casual Indian fusion restaurant that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in May 2023. It was founded by Rupinder "Romy" Singh. No strangers to the restaurant business, the Singh Family has been in the local restaurant business for several years. Romy's father Indi Singh owns Sitar, while his brother Harinder "Harry" Singh owns House of Naan. Before getting into the restaurant business, Romy was a lymphoma researcher at Yale University. He later realized that food was his true passion; it allowed him to get creative. In the fall of 2020, he and Harry co-opened Pataka: a fast-casual Indian street food restaurant. Although successful, the brothers closed Pataka two years later when they got the opportunity to relocate it to Queens, NYC. Romy came up with a new restaurant concept to fill the same space once occupied by Pataka. Inspired by a family trip to Tennessee, Romy came up with the idea to open a Nashville Hot Chicken restaurant that featured an Indian spin. He named the new venture "Hot Murga" which means "Hot Rooster". All of the chicken used for the dishes is 100% Certified Halal. My wife and I recently stopped at Hot Murga for lunch. We had heard nothing but great things about them and were eager to try their food. The interior of the restaurant was bright, white, and ridiculously clean. We were impressed with that alone. After looking over the menu, we decided to order a variety of different dishes to share. We ordered the "Murga Sandwich" (fried chicken, coleslaw, pickles, pickled onions, murga sauce on a potato bun), "Badmaash's Fries" (masala fries, fried chicken, murga sauce, pickles, coleslaw), "Waffles", and "Spiced Mac and Cheese". Everything was so delicious! KAPOW: an explosion of flavor in every bite! To drink, we washed everything down with some "Ginger Lavender Lemonade" and "Mango Lassi". My wife and I have definitely been caught up in the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich craze with other places like Haven Hot Chicken, but Hot Murga offers the same type of cuisine that not only adheres to Halal dietary guidelines but is also prepared with vibrant Indian spices. We can't wait to go back!

One 6 Three - Potato Head Pie

This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot. Excellent pizza. Super friendly staff

An okish first time visit. I wanted to try a new pizza place in New Haven for a birthday and chose…read morethis one. But the food didn't feel like a celebration, in my opinion. One 6 Three is an unusual name - it's a small and cozy spot with few tables and bar seating, set in a residential neighborhood. We tried the gluten free crust (available only in 12") American margherita pie and added mushrooms in half of it. The wood fired crust was well done, I really liked it. Lots of garlic, yum. However, the tomatoes on it were raw and that didn't feel very good. Also, there were no condiments offered on the side- like oregano- is that normal in a pizza place? Maybe I need to try more pizza places :)

Meat and Co is a creative sandwich shop in New Haven's upscale East Rock Market Food Hall. If you…read morenotice the sign, you'll see they've rotated the lower case "a" in "Meat" so it's upside down. Think of it as a culinary warning that they don't do things the normal way. I've had two sandwiches from Meat and Co. on two separate visits in 2025. The first was the Haute Tuna Melt. The tuna salad itself was good. It has some hot pepper and chive flavor. The tuna sandwich was on a panini-pressed ciabatta roll. I prefer some type of grilled sliced bread, which I think is more common, for a tuna melt. But that's fine. The biggest miss for me was the cheese. The American Cheese was not at all melted. So it's really just a tuna fish sandwich with American Cheese, Lettuce and Tomato. Good for what it was, but it wasn't a Tuna Melt. The second was The Rick Reuben. It must be more "Rick" than "Reuben". because it is the least "Reuben" Reuben sandwich I've ever had. It had pastrami, which is acceptable for a Reuben. That was about it. Instead of kraut, they had a mild red cabbage slaw. Instead of Swiss, they had cheddar. Instead of grilled rye bread, it was on a long panini-pressed pretzel roll. Admittedly, I didn't pay careful attention to the menu description because Reubens usually fall into one of a small number of types, and I like them all. Although, the online menu I saw did not reference the pretzel roll. This sandwich was too far away from any accepted form of Reuben to be called a Reuben. If it had been called a Pretzel Pastrami Melt, which is far more accurate, I wouldn't have ordered it. It was fine for it was. The pastrami was average though. Given how much I like the other East Rock Market vendors, I'm unlikely to return. If you go, pay close attention to the menu and maybe ask questions. 3.25 Stars

He was in his phone the whole time. I asked if it was a panini and he said "no, ciabatta". I ordered a Voodoo chicken which was supposed to be spicy but it was disappointing with no flavor . My husband ordered a steak and cheese and the steak was cheap cut mostly gristly. Our paninis were not toasted, COPD AND HARD BREAD and I'm not sure why as they have the equipment to do it. We also ordered fries but the person refused to make them and said " I don't have any ready ". Okay but can you get some ready? He was extremely lazy and didn't want to work. Cold hard ciabatta with sub par ingredients. $40!! 2 sandwiches. We will not be back . Extremely poorly managed. Lazy employee and sub par ingredients.
